Nokia has an established base in the GSM market (mid-cost to premium) and has no real interest in catering to the CDMA market. That's pretty much the reason why companies like LG have such a strong base here (CDMA) but slowly, they're improving as well by proving the 'extras' of the GSM market.

Do Japanese cellphones support English language mobile OS? Just wondering.

Doesn't seem to be available in Mumbai as well. Hope it comes in by Diwali, this month end.

It Is So Easy To Recharge Tata Mobile
natjay replied to sougatadc's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Yes, the amount was deducted on both instances. Took over 2 months to get it back ... Horrible experience and waste of time / money I recharged using the credit card so additional interest for a recharge I didn't even get. It's better to walk to the nearest shop, pay money and get an e-recharge. That's the last time I refilled online. Reliance is extremely BAD in dispute resolution. Exactly! But Reliance CC likes to play hide-and-seek when it comes to refunding. -
Nice! Hope Reliance is listening as well before they get any ideas about overcharging for Mobile World

Recharging from the mobile shop is a much better option... Forget the convenience, your money is important. I tried recharging from ICICI & CitiBank to my Reliance Mobile and never got any of it. It was a refill for Rs 1100 and as usual, Reliance customer care was useless -
As of now, there's no data-based option on prepaid... It's only in postpaid. I too had to suffer minute-based rates till I shifted to DSL. Netconnect on prepaid is good only as a backup, nothing more

Don't go for Classic phones -- They just look good but they're a major headache. I got the Classic 731 just 3 months ago... Today it's lying in a corner, totally worthless. Have repaired it twice but the software just hangs every time I try calling... Really bad. Shifted to an LG phone and never had any problems.

I think I saw this phone on NDTV's Gadget Guru show last year (some expo in Shanghai / Beijing)... It was featured along with UTStarcom as planning an entry into the Indian mobile market. Wonder what guys like Spice are thinking about this Chinese influx when their own D-88 is on offer here.

Yulong is another Chinese company... Don't understand the Chinese fixation of Reliance. What's the built quality and performance like? It's an interesting phone but needs more reviews for a buying decision.

Nice! I'm a fan of flip phones. What's the performance like on the Reliance network? Moto phones are still making the transition from GSM to CDMA. They have been popular on GSM but their performance on CDMA has still to be seen. MotoRazr started the trend. Let's see how this works out.

Just go for LG RD 3100 It's got FM

I just noticed in today's paper -- Mumbai Mirror -- that MotoFlip W355 is being offered on Reliance (I didn't know this before). This is probably the closest to an official confirmation that the phone's part of their database -- though you don't see it on their 'Handsets' page. Availability is another issue, but given the reliability of Moto phones after Nokia, this one's an interesting buy. The retail price is Rs 3999 and it has done well on GSM. Anyone know if this is a good phone to go for on CDMA?

@natjay My dear friend, yes the Rs.699/- Garuda Lifetime Prepaid Plan includes handset also. Lifetime Incoming will be free. But you have to top-up your garuda a/c. every 6 months for a minimum of Rs.100/-. In this 699/- lifetime offer you will get the talktime of Rs.700/- free for local MTNL-MTNL calls. This 700/- free talktime must be consumed within 6 months. The plan is great. And Garuda's reception now a days improved. Regards. That's really great. Thanks, Honest! @ ani_meher http://mtnlmumbai.in (New Lifetime Garuda Prepaid)

Can anyone confirm if the Rs 699 Lifetime Plan for Garuda Prepaid includes the phone as well? The earlier Rs 999 plan with 2 yrs validity (discontinued since 15 Nov) had the handset bundled for free. Any info of a similar practice in the Lifetime plan too?

Hello, I'd like to know which of these two - LG 3000 or LG 3100 - has confirmed Netconnect access. I'm getting conflicting answers from different people (including Reliance CC) and so would like your views on this. Since I'm planning to buy one of these for the Phone + Internet access, I'll appreciate whatever info you have. Also, what would be the total cost (handset + gsk + data cable) to buy one of these in Mumbai? Thanks.
-
Oh! Thanks for the clarification.

Has anyone got this phone? What's the cost and pros/cons? I just noticed this phone among the listed handsets on RCom but the problem is they tend to sell out very soon. Diffficult to get 1 good Nokia CDMA but easy to get a dozen Classic phones from China

GTran is a discontinued / outdated model I've been using it since Feb 2006, and it started giving problems around May 2006. I took it to the WebWorld and they said they've stopped supporting it 10 months back (that was in 2006). Right now, though I still have it, it's barely functional. The built quality is poor and the display looks dated. It's run it's course and has served well while it did (specially for RWorld and Netconnect)... but now I just use it to see who's calling, so that I can call them back from another phone. Best option is to shift over to something else. GTran is over and out.
