Hmm....Reliance pavilion was not too bad. Though there was nothing impressive for a Reliance Mobile users. They had mostly focussed on the value added services like Reliance World and My Tunes...and the talk plans, ofcourse. A few handsets were also in display.. Overall, nothing impressive as there was nothing new..Atleast not for a Rimwebian

Cool Ashok....very comprehensive dissection guide. All your 'keeda' things are fantabulous! Btw, I wonder if you could help me out too. My kyocera is lying dead with me, i was told that some connector is faulty (my set fell off from 3 storeys) and since the connector is not available separately, chip needs to changed completely...some 6k worth job. Any chances?

Now, mobile phones invade blogosphere This will surely be music to bloggers’ ears. Imagine using your mobile to post a blog entry from the lawns of Taj Mahal or a snap from the crescent beaches of Kovalam. Sharing your thoughts and pictures with the world is set to become instantaneous, with telecom operators in India planning to roll out mobile blogging, or moblogging services. Blogging allows people to share images, videos and their thoughts with a group of friends or with everyone on the net using the world wide web. A mobile weblog refers to content posted to the Internet from a mobile phone or PDA. Reliance Communications (RCL) is set to be the first operator to host a blogging site in India. “Our subscribers, who have MMS and video capability, will be able to send blog entries using mobile telephones. In case of other phones, only text blogging is possible,” Mahesh Prasad, president — Reliance World, told ET. RCL has partnered with the Hyderabad-based mobile content provider IMI Mobile for moblogging. RCL will charge Rs 5 per MMS/SMS for posting a blog. Users will have to MMS picture or video to 1234 with the keyword ‘mblog’ and they will be automatically registered on mblog. A return SMS specifies the user’s password and the website URL for her blog. “Bloggers can have a ‘buddy list’ specified from the phonebook, which can include both Reliance and non-Reliance subscribers so that everytime a blog is posted, they get an SMS alert informing them to check out the specified URL,” he explained. To view the blog, one has to visit www.relianceinfo.com/mblog and key in their password. “The community of bloggers is growing. We want to ensure that pictures taken on mobiles are not left just in the phone. They can be shared through moblogging,” said Mr Prasad. Over 8m of RCL’s nearly 25m users access Reliance Mobile. “We are optimistic that a large chunk of these customers will use our blogging services,” he added. Meanwhile, Greg Young, the CTO of Tata Teleservices (TTSL) said, “While we do not provide a hosted blogging site, with an appropriate handset our customers can access the internet and update their blogspots using the superior data capabilities provided by the CDMA technology.” The same is true of Hutchison Essar, whose subscribers are using the mobile to make blog entries. TTSL, however, remains bullish on moblogging. “We recognise the exponential growth of the blogging community and emerging internet and 3G services. We look forward to bringing to customers innovative services following the completion of the policy on 3G spectrum and our deployment of this new technology,” Mr Young added. Idea Cellular is offering moblogging through mygamma.com, a mobile networking community. Idea users can log on to this website and upload their pictures and messages and share ringtones. The service can be subscribed to for Rs 10 for a week or Rs 25 for two weeks (with online points). The company receives around 3,000 renewals every month for this service. As of now, telcos in India are not looking at moblogging as large revenue generators. “It is being offered as a service required by the fast growing bloggers community,” Mr Prasad said. @mehtakushal - Is this is the one you were looking for? @drali2 - It would be easier to find the tone if you tell us the source of the ringtone - the album, title etc. Do you know any paid website where it is available? Cheers! PS: Please excuse me, this is not the right thread, but somehow I thought it better to post it here as the request was made in this thread. Any action from admin/moderators, if required, is welcome. ADAGtone.mid -

Reliance Seeks 3g Spectrum For Gsm, Cdma Services
basant_jp posted a topic in Reliance Communications
NEW DELHI: Even before the real 3G mobile services takes off, competition at the trial level is hotting up with Reliance Communications applying for the radio waves for testing of interface for both GSM and CDMA based services. Reliance Communications has applied for 3G spectrum in seven circles, Orissa, West Bengal, Kolkata, Madhya Pradesh, North East and Assam on 2.1Ghz band while for CDMA-based 3G trial services, it has sought spectrum on the "appropriate band", a company official said. A Department of Telecom official said Reliance has sought 3G spectrum for trial on CDMA-based mobile services on the same 2.1 Ghz band. The company spokesperson declined to comment on the band on which it plans to go for testing for CDMA services. Reliance Communications had earlier also applied for 3G trial spectrum to Department of telecom but their case could not be considered as they had sought spectrum on 1900 Mhz band, which did not conform to the NFAP for their CDMA based 3G trials, according to DoT officials. Third generation mobile services, which will offer broadband on handsets, operate on separate spectrum bands than the existing 2G or 2.5G. Mobile broadband can help users access high speed data, browsing, streaming in all voice, video and data. Industry experts said 2.1Ghz spectrum band can also offer CDMA 2001 (EVDO), a version of 3G services. Going for 2.1 Ghz band will be helpful to Reliance as the Anil Ambani company is seeking a national presence in GSM also. Reliance will conduct CDMA 3G trials in six Unified circles of four metros and Bangalore and Hyderabad. Tata Teleservices had earlier sought 3G trial spectrum, it did not get it. The dry-run for roll-out of 3G mobile services has already started as the government provided low-power spectrum to GSM players like BSNL, MTNL, Bharti and Hutch to carry out interface check on a non-commercial basis under the National Frequency Allocation Plan on the 2.1 Ghz band. The trial spectrum has been given for one month and is 1/1000 of the actual 3G spectrum capability. It has to be used in a closed campus to see inter-operability of the interface with the existing system and is only for technical demonstration, the official said. Some time ago, vendors had also asked for the 3G trial spectrum and we had given it and now whichever service provider seeks it under the NFAP, we give it, said the DoT source. GSM players operate on 900 and 1,800 Mhz while CDMA players operate on 800 Mhz. As for NFAP, 1,900 Mhz cannot be used for commercial purpose and DoT is still undecided on its allocation. GSM operators feel that the spectrum should be in the 2.1GHz band whereas CDMA operators are of the opinion that it should be in 800MHz or 1900 MHz band. GSM operators claim that 1900 band is likely to overlap and interfere with 2.1GHz band. -
My set's side camera key had stopped working. It seems to have stuck and has become completely non-functional....I took snaps yesterday and it was working well, but today...it is not. Any suggestions?

IPTV set to be launched this Diwali New Delhi: Trials for the Internet Protocal TV (IPTV), through which one can enjoy TV programmes on PC's and surf Internet on TV sets, are complete and the state-owned MTNL is all ready to launch it in Mumbai and Delhi from this festive season, but for some clarifications from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The MTNL would be launching the service for the first time in the country in collaboration with the Time Broadband Services Pvt Ltd. The new technology will deliver a superior and interactive television experience with the industry's most advanced voice, video and data services. All broadband customers of the MTNL can access to the IPTV. Subcribers to MTNL's broadband service marketed under the Tri-band name, can make and receive phone calls, surf the Internet and use IPTV simultaneously. The IPTV will offer a bouquet of television channels and video-on-demand. For accessing these services, a set-top box will be needed. The box connects to the TV on one end and the MTNL line on the other. Several services will cost roughly about Rs 400 a month, which might be a little more than the subscribers get under CAS, but then under CAS one can't get interactive services and Internet. The state-owned telecom service provider would have launched the service even earlier too but it is waiting for TRAI's view on its bid to air Free to Air TV channels through IPTV's. TRAI is grappling with a number of legal points on this issue. It has been indecisive about which category, whether of telecom or broadcasting, the IPTV should be put into. It is also grappling with the point that if the IPTV is also allowed to air Free to Air channel, it would contravene CAS. However, TRAI sources said that if the MTNL wanted they could still launch the service with only pay channels, as taking care of legalities later was their problem. Director Operations Time Broadband Services Amit Dev told UNI that their trials were complete and they were ready to start operations as soon as asked by the MTNL. Source : UNI

Some more ringtones - in AMR format. AMR ringers are not high quality but they are good in size. If anyone wants these ringers in mp3, can ask me. Btw, the last one is the title song of teleseries 'Malgudi days' and is in AAC format, a good one infact. AAC and AMR are not supported directly for upload, so I had to zip them.
