I think the ringtones section has moved to the 'Hot and New' section with a slightly new name. I saw it yesterday and it had the same sub-categories as the ringtones section. I could successfuly download a couple of ringtones from there. Cheers!

There are several reasons that makes LCD displays a second choice for gaming. Couple of major problems that I have experienced myself are - 1. Response time - CRTs have better response times. It refers to the time needed for the screen to update pixel colors. They are important for gaming and other fast moving images, like playing movies. Ghost or 'Trailing effect' will occur when certain pixels seem to lag behind the action. Well, most high end LCDs now offer very good response times (below 16 millisecond), which makes them generally acceptable for gaming. However, CRT monitors are better, because their response time are not noticeable to most users. 2. Viewing Angles - LCD monitors have a limited viewing angle. They are not clear at edges of angles, compared to CRT monitors. However, most high-end LCDs these days have corrected this problem to a great extent. A CRT monitor is way better (at present) when playing fast games but LCDs are definitely better in strategy games or word processing...and other such non-motion or limited motion things. In the times to come(not very long I would say), we will surely see LCDs having better or atleast equal response times compared to the age old CRTs. My own idea for 'today'- Use a CRT monitor if you are a hardcore gamer and can't live a day without it. Use an LCD if you play 2D games or if u work on things like word processors, 3D Max or Photoshop OR if you can spend good money on LCD having response times below 12 millisecond. Cheers!

Hi guys! I am running a discussion forum using web wiz forum which uses Access database. For a long time now, I am willing to switch to Invision Power Board, but I do not want to loose data from my existing forum (though there is not much). Is there any way to upgrade without having to loose your existing data? Help requested. Cheers! Basant

Thanks Arun, I really appreciate that. I have emailed the IPB conversion team, hoping that they will have the solution for a reasonable fee. Cheers! -
Why I Won't Go For The Razr Cdma Or Rather Any High Priced Handset For That Matter.

Ok..so it seems that Rs 160 worth of talktime offer is available only to the DAPO customers mgrating to Delight plans (in lieu of 400 minutes Rim2Rim worth Rs 160). Anyway, thx. Cheers! -

Reliance website does not mention free talktime worth Rs 160...I checked on this link http://www.reliancecommunications.co.in/Co...ans_tariff.html Is the plan you are referring to different than Delight 399 and Delight 499? -

Yes, RIM2RIM std rates is a good reason to stick with Reliance. Btw, I think Reliance India One plans are comparatively better than Delight plans. You pay Rs 50 less in comparison to Delight plans (after including 50 rupees for RIM onnet SMS pack for RIO plans). -
Reliance Infocomm's website now has a all new look...complete make over of the home page..but only the home page. Check it out here Reliance Infocomm Guys, what do you think, is it much more apealing than the previous one?

I am using the GSM sim provided by Reliance. Infact, I had several discussions with quite a few Reliance technical support guys, and all of them gave me the reply - RUIM is made to ease the roaming issues, but currently we do not support international roaming with RUIM on 6265 I do not know how these guys work....Phone supoorts IR, but they are not prepared, RUIM support IR, but they are not providing that too...
-
Let me tell you that this phone (Nokia 6265, and I believe so are the other RUIM phones from Reliance) do not work internationally. You can not roam on CDMA networks internationally as the Reliance network is not yet ready to support the facility for RUIM enabled phones... I am in Canada now, and before leaving I made several enquiries from the Int'l roaming helpdesk. All executives told me that it will work, but when I could not update the PRL I contacted the technical dept and I was told that it will not work...and yes, it does not work. I finally am using GSM roaming... So may be PRL download is not needed for this handset, but the RUIM definitely does not register itself on roaming network....atleast not the Reliance RUIM. On the other hand, Tata indicom has not yet launched the handset but they are prepared to provide Int'l roaming on this handset right frrom the day one.

(1)Well, if you are in the standby mode (without the lock), you can reach to the 'SMS Compose' box with a single click, and to 'SMS Inbox' in just two clicks. Infact, you can access mot of your favourite application in just two click by customizing the Shortcuts (SMS inbox shortcut is default). (2) Yes, you can set 'delivery reports on' for all SMS sent in the SMS settings. Hope this answers your queries.

Greatest shock of this year came to me in form of Nokia 6265. I purchased this set as I frequently use International roaming and really enjoy quality CDMA roaming while in US and Canada. Now, I bought this phone as it is a dual band handset (like Kyocera 7135) and I was sure that it will work in US/Canada. Now, yesterday I tried to download the latest PRL as I am leaving in a couple of days, but could not. I confirmed with Int'l roaming helpdesk and I was told that NOKIA 6265 DOES NOT SUPPORT CDMA INT'L ROAMING.... NOT EVEN ON CDMA 800 BAND!!!! This set is made for that, only the Reliance network is not ready to support...so disgusting, you can roam with a cheap handset like LG 2030, but not with the most expensive handset available today....On the other hand, Tata has not yet launched this handset but they have already mentioned that this handset will be supported for International Roaming...Simply ignorance! A bad bad deal for me....I don't have my Kyocera 7135 anymore, and on the last thursday, I even sold my Nokia 6630 GSM.... No triband GSM handset, a Nokia 6265 but does not support Int'l roaming.... Disgusting @Tanveer Skype won't work on this phone as Skype mobile is made for smartphones running on windows platform.

Great news! Motorola CDMA RAZR V3c will soon be launched in India. As per the information provided to my brother (he works in a senior position in Motorola) by the topmost Marketing and Sales officials from Motorola US, they are working with the Indian CDMA operators to launch the CDMA RAZR within June/July timeframe. There will be announcements as soon as the launch plans are finalized. Cheers!

Yes, it has video ringtones. I bought this handset through one of my contact in Reliance. Well, not exactly, but yes. My contact used to work at Vijaya building before but not anymore. He however gave a person's contact who he ped me get the set at this price. One thing though, if you have a proper and direct links with someone in Reliance, you can get the set at dealer price i.e. 14,500. Cheers!
-
Hey Guys! Me too bought 6265 today. I have not yet explored the handset but yes, I got a good deal at 15,200. I will post my experiecen with the handset in a few days. Cheers!
-
Oops! I just called up this Nokia Priority Dealer...and he says he did not sell any 6265, infact, he says hat he never got this handset from the distributor and will get the stocks tomorrow only... It seems to be me that after tapping the market demand, he now wants to charge more and is not willing to sell it in 15500 anymore. Any other dealer/WW/WWE selling it at reasonable rates in East Delhi? Cheers!

As per my information, MotoRAZR is a non-RUIM handest, so having a RUIM card from Reliance will not help you use that phone on Reliace network. Do confirm on this and let us all know. Cheers!
-
Yes indeed. It is available in CDMA too. Infact, this chocalate phone was made for CDMA first, and after its unprecedented success in CDMA, a GSM variant (KG800) was also launched in Euproe and now in Asia. As for CDMA, Verizon is soon to launch this set in US. Check out the exclusive verizon chocolate website at http://www.verizonwireless.com/chocolate/. Mobileburn had a good review alongwith some cool lookins pics of the GSM variant of this model. Check it out at http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=25...;source=BROWSER Cheers! PS: Unlike Nokia, the GSM variant of LG chocolate is much inferior to its CDMA counterpart. In other words, the CDMA LG chocolate is way ahead of its GSM counterpart.

Thanks Zappu... So it seems there is just the camera and the looks that had made this set so expensive, but no business tools. It is surprising that to know that it does not have any in-built email client, especially when even sub 10K GSM phones these days have the option to setup email account. Strange that GSM hansets supporting slower data rates have the features like this, but the CDMA handsets which support faster data rates are not having even email client...
