Reliance Capital group to buy Adlabs in Rs 360 crore deal 20% open offer to follow; stock price surges 20% CORPORATE BUREAU Posted online: Friday, July 01, 2005 at 0009 hours IST MUMBAI, JUNE 30: Reliance Land Pvt Ltd, a part of the Anil Ambani-led Reliance Capital group, on Thursday said it planned to acquire 51% equity in Adlabs Films Ltd for around Rs 360 crore. Reliance Land will first invest about Rs 250 crore in Adlabs through a preferential offer. The deal is subject to Sebi’s takeover regulations, and shareholder and other requisite approvals. The acquisition price is Rs 183 per share. Rs 100 crore more would be pumped in to buy the stake of Vasanji A Mamania, one of the two promoters of the company. Reliance Land will then make an open offer for a further 20% of the company, which if fully subscribed will entail an investment of another Rs 150 crore. Ambit Finance will be the lead manager for the open offer. Reliance Capital already holds 5.84% in Adlabs. The Adlabs acquisition by the Reliance Capital group, which now comes under the newly carved out Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Enterprises after the settlement between the Ambani brothers, is the first major acquisition by the group. The group sources said more such acquisitions are being planned. The Adlabs stock was locked at the 20% upper circuit on both the exchanges on Thursday. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, the stock ended the day at Rs 240.6, up Rs 40.10. Over 16 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE, while onNSE, the stock ended 20% higher to end at Rs 241.50. Source

ddr is today's standard, SD ram is past. but the choice is not in your hands, it depends upon what motherboard you own. just check which one is compatible with your mobo.

512 mb generic is costing Rs. 2300. (1yr warranty) 512mb transcend with lifetime warranty costing Rs. 2850. 1gb generic costs Rs. 4400. (1yr warranty) will have to check transcend 1gb pricing. note that these are all DDR RAMs.

yes, usb hdd consumes power from usb port itself, so the battery's power will be used. although it consumes very very low power. but to run this you also need usb 2.0 ports, otherwise transfers will be deadly slow. generelly its used as a backup device only and not for frequent use on the laptop. so i would suggest either upgrade laptop hdd to 60 or 80gb or think of buying a hdd for desktop and use LAN to transfer data from laptop to desktop.

the performenace of externel hdds generally depends upon casing. if the casing is good, then it should not give any problems. and the performance in these is superb. iomega are damn costly here, and again they are bulky.

seagate 40gb harddisk for laptop costs Rs 4000 plus fitting charges about Rs 500. it carries 3 years warranty by seagate service center. one more option is a usb harddisk. a usb casing for above laptop harddisk is available at Rs 600/-. so the harddrive becomes an exteral usb harddrive.

he''s talking about corporate servers. i think thats off topic. we are talking about stand alone personal desktops.

another strongest doubt of cold restart (after ram) is power supply. try changing that and use it for a few days and see if the problem solves.

dear chirag, xpsp1 is a big NO NO. please install XPSP2 integrated setup of Win XP Pro. Pro is a better version with better networking features, and if you get Corporate edition of WinXPPro SP2 then it wouldnt bother you for activation. after insalling, run windows update on your pc and let it dowlnload and install all the updates. after that, start loading all the softwares, and use norton antivirus 2005. above combination is tried and tested by me on 100s of pcs and it works flawlessly. in case if you need more advice, feel free to contact me. i would be glad to help you out.

guys, be careful, its tricky. look at what rakesh5295 says, or in that matter, any advertisement says, 1000 talktime to reliance phones, i.e. rim to rim, not any other network or any landline. dont get misguided or misunderstand.....

sorry to discourage you, but kams19, you did a mistake buying samsung drive. you should have bought sony or liteon. samsung has a typical problem of tray not being ejected properly. this particaular problem popsup after 6-8 months. again its lense is also too bad, and it rejects scratched and olders cds after a few months. life of samsungs optical drives is very less comparing to sony and liteon. do exchange it if possible, or else cross your fingers and hope for the best.
-
rightly said deepu. sony is one of the best brand available in optical drivers. kams19, i would suggest to buy dvdrw only if you are really going to burn dvds. if you have no usage of burning dvds, and you are only going to read dvds, not write them, then i would strongly recommend you to go for combo drive. todays optical drives are not so good, if you dont use them for 3-6 months, or use it very less, they start struggling to read media. so using them on regular basis is very important. take the decission depending upon your usage. hope this helps.

the above prices are only for leased data circuits. they do not include internet. plain leased data circuit also can be used to join 2 offices in a different, or far locations. following page has the tariff of internet... http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/internet_tariff1.htm that would be additional cost on leased data circuit tarrif to get the internet running on the leased data circuit. 2mbps is the maximum bandwidth capacity of the line which has 20k annual tariff. for 2mbps internet, annual rate is Rs. 18,92,500/- plus taxes. one can even go for a lower speed on the same line, ranging from 64k to 2mbps. so dont dare to dream that 2mbps internet on leased lines are coming to us @ 20k annually. abhi delhi bahot doooor hai ..!!!

harsh replied to saurav123's topic in General Technical Discussion
u cant move an OS to a different partition. you will have to reinstall fresh OS on C drive and install all the programs you use in your D drive windows, in order to work all of them in newly installed C drive. no other way. -
Restrain Reliance Infocomm, Say Cell Companies
harsh replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Communications
rim is set to eliminate the concept of STD. all india will be one local circle for all rim nos. once their wired lanlines start, they will be giving such schemes more and more cheaper to attract more subscribers. so ultimately all rim nos. will be at local cost all over india. that is what they are already doing but the scale is still smaller. -

64bit computing's main drawback is drivers. they have to be completely redesigned. all big companies have already started making current products compatible with winxp64 by bundling 64bit drivers while shipping. but re-developing dirvers for older hardware is gonna be difficult for all of them. its gonna take pretty much time. lets hope for the best.
-
i dont think its gonna work out. xp64 will require newly designed drivers for 64bit platform. existing 32bit drivers will not work on 64bit platform.
-
yes deepu, it can be used to transfer any kind of files as well.
