Really? a member from Bihar? Wait minute........you mean they have the internet there? No.....wait.......they have ELECTRICITY there??? :'(

Speed is what you should watch out for. Both RAMS should have the same speed. Also, if your current PC has only 128 MB RAM, it probably has an old motherboard which doesn't support a single chip of 512 MB. Check it out......

DADP Self-testing Tools For J2me Applications
adwait replied to StaticElectricity's topic in Data services
You have to mail the Reliance people and ask them to enable DADP on your phone. Simply signing up on the site is not enough.....you have to mail them as well. -
The only response you qre going to get from the charimans office is that the messages are not received on their network from the Airtel side and hence its their fault. Anyway, a friend of mine with whom I message quite frequently uses Airtel and we were having the same problem. But apparently, if she sends me the message on the number with the prefixed zero (ie: 093240xxxxx) it usually reaches, but if she drops the zero, then the message might or might not reach. That apparently is a stop gap solution.....

What about the post paid users then? Hence the card...

Ok sorry for off topic posting........but I am really remindef of this quote "Theory is when you know something, but it doesn't work. Practice is when something works, but you don't know why. Engineers combine theory and practice, nothing works and they don't know why!!" -

I don't see how you can do that either? You would still have to change the routing tables right? And if you change them, they work on both connections right? -

Possible......yes, how, that's what we are trying to figure out. Lets see what linuxguy thinks of my last idea, cuz I don't really know much about the internal working of TCP/IP. -

Hmm.......point taken. So modifying the routing tables is not exactly a good option (maybe theres a way by which we can set it to respond to a request on 1 interface on the same interface, but I dont know it..) But there has to be SOME way.....how about you put a link to some small image or file on the public IP (common) of sify? That way, the client will establish a connection there too......and when it starts getting packets from there, it won't think WTF. I am just guessing here.......so don't laugh linuxguy -

Dude, I don't know the EXACT commands to do this since I am on linux......I can do this easily on Linux, but on windows I don't have an exact idea. But Ill try anyway, Once you put in you second LAN card, run ipconfig. It will show you some hexadecimal number for each card.....convert this to decimal and that's your interface number. Now route -p ADD 0.0.0.0 MASK 0.0.0.0 10.12.44.1 METRIC 1 IF <interfaceno for sify card> route -p ADD 192.168.1.0 MASK 255.255.255.0 METRIC 1 IF <interfaceno of lan card 2> What this does is, the first line adds a route to the internet as a whole through your sify card, so that whenever you try to access any IP address (any site) it will be routed through the sify account. The second line adds a route to your MTNL router, so that you can access the config pages of the router for config purposes. So when you are trying to access an IP 192.168.1.*, the request goes through the MTNL LAN card while all other requests go through the sify card. Now open the router config page by going to the address 192.168.1.1 and forward the port 80 to your computer. Again, all this is theoritical, there maybe practical difficulties which may arise at the time of connection......so I can't really say this will work 100%, but theoriitically it should work fine. -

why not linux guy?? With the method I suggested.....he can have two connections going at the same time. If one of the connections has a public IP (MTNL), he can host his website fine. right? -

Here's a link on how to modify the routing tables in windows: http://www.ss64.com/nt/route.html Now I think what you would have to do is, route -p ADD default MASK 0.0.0.0 if <INTERAFACE NO> or something like this. This will ask your computer to route any requests for any website, through the x.x.x.x (1st LAN card). The interface number can be found out by using the route -print command. Look at the hex no. that appers.....convert that to decimal using a calculator and thats your interface no. check out this site : http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documen...cc_tcp_gvuf.asp This way, your MTNL connection is not used at all. -

Well.......like I said get another LAN card and get the MTNL connection. Now, find a way to edit routing tables in windows (google it.....its gotta be there in settings>control panel). Now set the sify router as the primary gateway. That will direct all outgoing traffic through sify. Also, each lan card will have a different IP, so when people try to access your public IP, the request will automatically go to the MTNL LAN card (you'll have to configure the router for port forwarding btw). You'll also need to configure your server software to listen to the appropriate LAN card. -
Virtual LAN card huh? How does that work? Where do you plug the cable in??

Help Needed! Some Netwroking Problem
adwait replied to abhay's topic in General Technical Discussion
If I understand correctly, you want to have two internet connnections on the computer, one which you use normally and the toher one just so that you can have a public IP, is that right? Well, I guess you should be able to do that. Just put in another LAN card, then get the MTNL connection and connect it to that LAN card. Now comes the hard part of configuring your computer to use nly one LAN card...........I don't really know how you would do this in Windows since its been a VERY long time since I booted into Windows, but I guess there must be something somewhere in the Control Panel>Network Settings. BTW, MTNL provides a public IP, but its not static so you would have to look into a dynamic DNS provider if you are planning to host a site on the computer or something. Another thing is that, when someone requests a connection to your computer, some data is sent to your computer and that will be counted on the MTNL connection as download, It won't amount to much if the traffic to your site is not very huge......but just something to consider. -
From me too! Happy budday guys

Actually.....I would like to know too....Java is supposed to be platform independant, so an application written in Java should look/work the same way on any machine that runs the Java interpreter....

What philantrophy boss? It doesn't cost them much to introduce a new handset.....and its not like they are giving them away for free or subsidising them. Whatever it costs to introduce a handset, they recover from the people who buy those handsets.
