That means that the rumors regarding the 9th April system maintenance release may be for a change more then just rumors, and we might see the official 2.1 coming out.
-
i sort of expected it that our inhouse doc would be already on it . i guess will wait for all the updates to finish before flashing it. I had been fooled by the "26\03" predictions so didnt touch my phone till now but now no more waiting for sprint. One doubt though how can we be sure its based on the official sprint one , and if that is true how come sprint has not released it till now.
-
On xda a new Damage Rom has come out which is suppose to be based on the yet to be released but real sprint official 2.1 kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653222 Anybody tried it yet??

Mobile Internet Rates Slashed, Quota Increased!
doc_anurag replied to Aussie's topic in Data services
Sir , i think you are confusing mobile internet with the data card. Am on Rs 99pm plan with a limit of 300mb per month for surfing through my mobile. Till now i have never cross this limit but this month i found a app which is suppose to monitor the net usage on the phone. That is when i discovered these values and in a dilema since then. Was planning to call up CC to confirm but u can never be sure with their information. -
Mobile Internet Rates Slashed, Quota Increased!
doc_anurag replied to Aussie's topic in Data services
How does reliance calculate our data usage. I have a network monitor installed on my hero and it shows i have already used up nearly 300mb of data this month, but when i check my data usage on rworld it shows a 8 digit no(33494404) which i guess is in bytes and comes to about 30mb. Now i dont know which one to believe, as am presently on 300mb per month plan i will have to change it or will be getting a hell of a bill next month if my counter is true!! -
i tried doing this but i think it just changes the proxy setting for the mobile internet because after setting the proxy the wifi still failed to work and my mobile net also stopped. After i deleted the settings my mobile net again started working. From what i could figure out from googling around was that andorid 1.5 lacks the ability to set proxy on wifi connection. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1273 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=545182 :Ohhhh:

need some help, in my hospital i can access the net only thorough a proxy. am not able to figure out how to set the proxy in my wifi connection. Neither the phone nor the browser gives the option of a proxy setting.

to forward a message to a group long press on the message then select forward. u will go to next screen where press on the "To" window and then press menu. In the pop up menu which comes on the bottom press on "people" and then u will get the contact directory in which groups would be the first option, press on that. Select the groups u want and press ok and then u will go back to the message screen, and then press send. I more thing i have noticed that unlike in my previous nokia i can forward a sms to more then 10 people at one time( i have a group of 36) and all the messages get forwarded.

I checked up on the rom and its 1.56 only. I was waiting for the android 2.1 to officially come out before fiddling with my rom. Any guesses to when it may be out. The phone gives me nearly 2 days of usage if i use data sparingly, but if i leave it on continuously it really drains the battery off in no time giving less then a day of battery life. I have switched off nearly all the auto updates still the battery usage with data is amazing. Is this normal??? I forward messages a lot but i have noticed that the moment u sent about a 100 messages in a short interval the phone starts showing a warning it has detected a large no of messages being sent and asks for confirmation for each message. I guess its like a spam filter but is there any way of increasing this limit.

No custom roms for me yet! Am on the stock sprint Rom as supplied by sadikk bhai.

Hi, I just now turned on the mobile data connection on my phone when I got a pop up saying that there is a system update available and whether I want to download it. I have just pressed to remind me later. Has anyone else also gotten this message, any idea what's it about and whether its safe to download or not

Thanks dkaile, i have been able to remove that irritating on air activation thanks to ur advice . But i think u have missed an important command without which i was getting a read only error. I would like to restate the steps especially for other noobs like me who have no prior experience as somethings assumed as basic by gurus are quite puzzling to us( well to me atleast they were ) 1. First to back up your pre installed apps: a) i made a new folder "hero" on my C: drive on the comp b ) Then i opened command prompt from the start folder c) typed in "cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools"( assuming u have installed the sdk software on ur C: drive while rooting your phone) d)typed in "adb pull /system/app c:\hero" this copied all the apps to the hero folder i made on my c drive 2. Now to delete all the apps u dont want a)type "adb shell" * daemon not running. starting it now * * daemon started successfully * u will get this screen followed by $ symbol b ) type "su" u will get # c)type "mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system" d) type "cd /system/app" Now we are into the app folders and then to remove various apps i just typed rm followed by various file names given on the first post on this link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581976. Each file name has to be typed separately with the rm command. e)type "exit" f)again "exit" g)type "adb shell reboot" and ur phone will reboot and be ready to use I have removed all the sprint apps and the over air activation as per dkaile, without yet killing my phone. I was initially scared but guess its not to difficult to do even for noobs like me. and most importantly as told by all the gurus before starting anything always make a nandroid backup before fiddling with your phone.

Well i finally took the plunge and removed all the sprint apps. Although the phone does not show any increase in memory it seems to be working faster and bootup is definitely faster and for the first time i saw the phone looking for network after bootup, otherwise it used to show reliance by the time it used to be fully ready. I have removed sprint tv, navigation, stock apps, nfl and nascar and amazon mp3, the following guides were helpful http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581976 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581635

i am a old dapo customer, presently in simple 299. My r world plan is still L1 with rs99 mobile internet plan. My last months bill does not show any NUC charges even though i heavily used opera in my old nokia 6275 to browse the net. Now i have got the Hero so if the same holds true this month also i guess i can think about leaving my data connection on all the time without having to worry about obscene charges, But knowing reliance am going slow this month and will wait till my next bill.
-
I have just rooted my hero following the link given by dkaile. thanks a lot that was easier then i thought. Now i was wondering about deleting those sprint apps ( NFL, Nascar etc) which have come preinstalled with the phone. is it worth while and does it really speed up the phone. Can the gurus tell whether its safe to follow the instructions on this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581635

This is very confusing!!. I would be getting my hero soon, Now my current plan is L1+99monthly internet plan. So now if i use my phone for surfing , mail etc i would be paying NUC or i would just have to pay the monthly rental. I have gone through my previous bills but have not seen any network charges applied till now, but the problem is i have just switched from DAPO to simple.

i have recently switched over to windows vista home premium from XP and now i find that every time i try to transfer a file from the phone to the comp using nokia pc suite via bluetooth the file it self doesn't transfer, but forms a small .tmp folder with a phone file in it. I am able to transfer files on to the phone, use it as a modem, sync it etc. Although am using the latest pc suite which according to nokia is vista compatible, if u try to download it from the nokia website using their phone wizard it just hangs up and says the detected OS is not compatible with the available suite for the phone. Has anyone else faced this problem

The chocolate looks tempting so when is it coming any news on that. Come on people use ur sources and find out
-
Does anyone have any news when is reliance finally planning to launch these models!!!!!!!!
-
It does look like the chocolate now the question is would it have features similar to the GSM phone ie KG800 or would be like the CDMA VX 8500 launched by Verizon in the US this month. The big difference i could make out was that the CDMA version has an expandable memory card slot but the GSM model has only 128mb internal memory, and the CDMA has ipod like controll buttons on the front. Check out the VX 8500 http://www.verizonwireless.com/chocolate/

The menu clearly states that R world is a part of it so it has to be for Reliance. If u check out the website the various documents were submitted in july with a letter to keep the pics and manual confidential for some time, and have only been released to the public in oct\06, so i guess they must be near ready for launch.

I had the same problem with my phone finally got a charger which connects through the data port of the phone after that no problem of babysitting my phone to make it charge . Cost me 250/- from LG service centre guess must be available cheaper outside

here is proof that the phones are coming check out this web site found it while searching for the phones on google click on the Rd8000 link http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/07/28/fcc-fridays/ The two Pdf attachments have the photos and the manual looks like the choclaterd_8000_manual.pdfrd_8000_pics.pdf These have been submitted to FCC for approval in July\06. And the manual clearly states it has R World in its menu so they must be headed to india soooon.
