    ^^^ I second Kanaga. Apple sued Samsung only, but every smartphone manufacturer has copied apple for one or other feature to be precise. So why apple didn't fight for patent infringement with LG/hTc/Asus/Motorola/Huawei/Dell/Acer/Sony/Sharp/Toshiba/ZTE/Spice........? The answer is clear. Apple fears Samsung and that's why they consider Samsung as their greatest rival.
  4. I was a windows fan before I switched over to Android. Used 3 phones and was in complete love with them. Now it must be much improved still I'll remain stuck to Android only because I'll not get enough applications there.

    ^^^ True. There should've been an exclusiveness for pricey handset like S-III. The rear view also doesn't have much difference vis–à–vis S-III's look. This is S-III And S Duos's rear look is... Only size of the phone is different. At a glance it is difficult to differentiate.

  9. If this deal really happens, then MTS is going to gain 6.5 crore customers (another 5% of the market share). In that case MTS will start GSM business (?) And Maxis being Malaysian company (having largest stake in Aircel), the deal will either take place in Moscow or Kuala Lumpur. Chidambaram will cry for alleged tax evasion in the takeover as in the case of Vodafone deal.

    Kunal, you are right that wifi drains battery like anything. Still, if you don't have the Samsung driver installed on a laptop, it is always handy to use wifi tethering. I often go for wifi tethering from my phone to any laptop at my office while keeping my phone connected (for power) through USB cable. This does away with the need of installing the driver to each and every laptop. This also simultaneously allows other few phones/laptops nearby to use my internet, if I provide them the access.

    ^ In addition to above method of USB tethering, you can make use of your phone's wifi hotspot to share its internet. To make the wifi safe, use a WEP/WPA password to protect any unwanted access.

    Ankit, I'm afraid, in that case, all the other operators would lose signal strength as well and this would happen pan-India. And consider the case where Tata is subtly handing over the business to MTS but not paying them for the data use, eventually subscribers are suffering as the data packs are not working.

    This is true for Rest of West Bengal circle also. They are doing it subtly but steadily, shutting down towers and their Exclusive Stores. In our circle where they are finding it profitable, they are expanding (e.g. they have launched EVDO in Sikkim, entire North Bengal upto Malda and Asansol) but taking MTS's service on rent in other places. In my place along with many small towns the data sessions are showing MTS (with TATA DoCoMo's configuration on device intact). As a result the data packs are not working, the subscribers are getting charged for each data session. An OMH RUIM of Tata in Moto XT800 fetching MTS as operator name on screen (!) and most obviously is deducting from main balance for each data session although there is data pack recharged and there is Tata's configuration in it. When approached to TATA DoCoMo's Exclusive Store at Durgapur, it was found that each data session was accessed through MTS's network, thus was chargeable. This is not a stray case. The Photon users having monthly data recharges are getting their balance vanished within half an hour for the same reason. TATA has definite instructions to their management not to entertain complaints, otherwise our mails wouldn't be ignored like this.
  21. @joshm, does this JB or the ICS roms allow conference calls? I'm on GB on my Fascinate and use conference calls on a regular basis with TATA CDMA. I've found conference call not maturing (the first call remains on hold and cannot be merged) on a few ICS handsets like Galaxy Nexus, Moto Droid Razr etc.
