  1. ^ @ Dipan, I have posted a request at the link provided by you for addition of Bengali language option to Swype. @Avishek, I know you are a fan of Swiftkey. I feel comfortable on Swype as I can type on keyboard without looking at it. If anybody is fast on touch-typing, he will feel comfortable on swype.

  3. I'm using swype for over 18 months and in love with this. I started using it as a stock application in Fascinate and I installed it in my hTc Incredible 2 also. I'm a great advocate for swype too and argued academically with many users of Swiftkey or other intelligent input methods here in this forum. Highlighted the fact that swype still holds the Guiness records for fastest input set in 2010 on Samsung mobile. But I didn't find HInglish after update on hTc Incredible 2. Although Hinglish is not required by me, I've made my Benglish dictionary ready by adding new words whenever typed. By this way you can do Benglish, @Dipan.

Will definitely ask my Bro-in-law to do this. Kindly tell me all the details. I could ask you through PM, but decided to write a post otherwise (if it could help others also). If it's possible, please provide me all the mail addresses and phone numbers to contact and also give me a copy of your complaint to my mail address: sougatadc@gmail.com
  6. Timtara.com Exposed on CNBC Awaaz

My Bro-in-law is facing problem. Bought a media player (video+audio) on 9th June. They postponed the delivery date twice, denied receipt of payment once (accepted their fault only after copy of credit card statement was mailed), order cancelled and payment initiated once, order automatically renewed now without consent. This has been a long exasperating story. What to do now? Should he lodge a case in the consumer forum? He is too busy with his work to do all these unwanted stuff against timtara.com

  8. Samsung has already started becoming serious on innovating features and designs for their new handsets and tablets. As a result GS3 is not getting affected by this verdict. I'm an Android fan because it has enabled poor people to use good smartphones and because it has restricted price of Apple's products (it compelled Steve Jobs to comment that he was "willing to go to thermonuclear war"). This was of utmost requirement for stopping monopoly (of Apple).

Amazon through their indian counterpart Junglee.com launches their immensely popular Kindle (reader) here in India. Kindle's 'e-ink' makes it unique in the sense that it is almost like a printed paper to read a book. The page is highly readable until it is refreshed to a new page. This technology uses very less energy, thus battery consumption is very little in Kindle. These will be available at the Croma stores. Details below: Kindle - the world's #1 e-reader for five years running - is now available for purchase at Croma retail stores across India. Amazon Kindle is a convenient, portable device built for one purpose - reading. Its electronic ink display uses actual ink, so it looks like text on paper. Kindle is as thin as a magazine and weighs less than a paperback, and holds up to 1,400 books. A long battery life means you can read for up to one month on a single charge. With Kindle's built-in Wi-Fi, you can download your next book wirelessly in less than 60 seconds. Amazon launches the India Kindle Store with the biggest selection and lowest prices in India. You can now pay in Indian Rupees to get access to a vast selection of titles, new releases, bestsellers, and works from a range of Indian and international authors. Readers will also find exclusive Kindle books, as well as over one million free classics available to download and read on Kindle. Amazon also launches Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) for independent authors and publishers in India. KDP is a fast, free and easy way for authors and publishers to make their books available to Kindle customers in India and around the world on both Kindle devices and free Kindle reading apps. Authors and publishers in India can now set prices specifically for India, as well as receive royalty payments in Indian Rupees.
  10. The behaviour of R Venkateswarlu is exasperating. He should be warned for his misbehaving. Most of the buyers are not like him. And very few remain 'unsatisfied' after buying from a seller like Parin. I'm one of them, Parin will definitely agree, I know.
  11. Only 2GB 3G under FUP for an 'unlimited data' bundle of 2G for a minimum bill of Rs. 1460 !
  12. The Smartphone recharges are also having some bottlenecks. I'm reproducing below my latest mail to the nodal officer regarding this: Dear Sri Sambit Patnaik, Nodal Officer, MTS West Bengal Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd. PS Srijan Tech Park,DN-52,Sector-V ,Salt Lake , Kolkata - 700091 This is to draw your kind attention to the fact that after the conversion of my general OMH (9434353637) into Smartphone number, I'm facing some unique problems as depicted below. Kindly look into the matter and take necessary action to resolve these. Problem #1: As required for data access, I recharged with Rs. 246 for which I got a confirmation message that I've been credited with 200 sms (as the daily quota of the unlimited sms). As per the tariff plan I'm getting 1GB of EVDO data beyond which it would be 1X unlimited. But sms by dialing *225# isn't showing any data balance. It is very difficult to plan my HSD usage for 1GB without knowing how much balance I'm having at a particular moment. Kindly make arrangement to provide balance statement for EVDO data. This is urgently required. Problem #2: I tried to recharge my number with SMS recharge of Rs. 9, 'All 30p' of Rs. 73, Voice call recharge of Rs. 122 (giving 70K secs on-net and 30K secs off-net calls), but all failed. Why on earth there are restrictions on these recharges for Smartphones? What prevents you to allow a Smartphone subscriber to recharge 'All @30p' for Rs. 73 or local voice call pack of Rs. 122? What's the logic behind this? If any Smartphone user wants to stop using data for an interim period and uses his number for normal use why he will not get the opportunity to recharge for SMS pack? While none of the GSM operators impose any such restrictions on recharge options if a subscriber goes for 3G data use on his mobile, why MTS is adopting this negative stand? Problem #3: All the Msavers are not available for Smartphones. I conclude with a pertinent question - why have you designed the recharge denominations giving full talk time of Rs. 600, Rs. 700, and Rs. 800 while the recharges for the denominations of Rs. 500 gives a talktime of Rs. 525 and that of Rs. 786 gives talktime of Rs. 800. Who will go for recharging with Rs. 600, Rs. 700, or Rs. 800? With regards, Sougata Dhar Chowdhury 9434353637
  13. MTS officially launces MTag 351, MTag 352 and MTag 281 Smartphones that comes bundled with Unlimited data plans and unlimited on-net (MTS to MTS) local calls for 3 months. All these phones are powered by 800 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 Processor and run on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). These support EVDO data speeds up to 3.1 Mbps. Rudradeep (Inception) provided scoop of launch of MTag 351 and MTag 352 here earlier in a thread. The third one MTag 281 has 2.8-inch (240 x 320 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and 3MP camera at the back. It has 1200 mAh battery, 3 additional back covers (red, white and blue) and priced at Rs. 5,499. It will allow 512MB of EVDO data (and 1X unlimited thereafter) per month and all local calls at 1p/2sec for first 3 months as bundled offer. Like other two models it has 256MB RAM, 512MB internal memory, 32 GB expandable memory and pre-bundled 2 GB card in the box. Other features include, FM Radio, 3G EVDO 3.1 Mbps, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and aGPS. It has Live MTS TV which offers over 100 channels, Online Music Application and Nimbuzz. source
  14. ^ These are Smartphone plans. The OMH connnections which have recently been robbed off the EVDO activation cannot recharge with these denominations as of now. MTS officials have apprised that they are still working on it and may come up with better over-all tariff plans for voice and data. I've converted my OMH number into smartphone one and is able to recharge the above plans (I'm using Rs. 246 plan now) but the subscribers with pulled-down 1X connectivity are still failing to recharge with these plans.
  15. In my place also the COCO (Company Owned & Company Operated) Exclusive Store has been shut down few months back. The stores in Kolkata don't deal our problems as we fall under Rest Of West Bengal circle. It's now a difficult proposition altogether.
  16. After the great disaster I wrote a series of mails to the nodal officer, appellate authority of MTS. Finally my number got converted into a smartphone one. And I continued to get EVDO signal. I continued to get the benefit of my last recharge of Rs. 140 for 6GB of data. This 12:00am that validity expired. Before the expiry I tried to recharge my number with SMS recharge of Rs 9, 'All 30p' of Rs. 73, internet recharge of Rs 90 and Rs. 140, Voice call recharge of Rs. 122 (giving 70K secs on-net and 30K secs off-net calls), but all failed. Finally I gave up and recharged with Rs. 27 for 2p/3sec (validity 90 days) and Rs 121 (full talk-time) and Rs. 246 for 1GB EVDO and unlimited 1X beyond 1GB along with unlimited free (200/day) SMS. This is for checking. I'd rather go for Rs. 48 recharge which will allow 1p/2sec calls for 90 days. But after that when I'm checking my balance, the data volume is not showing. Then how can I plan my data usage? Disgusting
  17. I whole-heartedly support Avishek. I'm a part of his movement.

  22. Call Conference Trick On Motorola Droid 2 & Droid 2 Global

^ It matters little what name you provide for a contact with number '3'. It is better to provide a name with number or alphabet A so that it remains at the top of the contact list. It seems this handset has issues regarding conference call using CDMA segment.
  23. ^ @Krishnendu, I know about Incredible 2 and already using it on MTS. Quite a few of my friends (5 in number) are also using it. However, Faramroze Chyella is referring about imported non-RUIM handsets for MTS. This is what I said not yet available on our forum. Even the reputed sellers are yet to get persons from MTS who will do the back-end MEID registraion/A-Key configuration. That's why these good non-RUIM handsets are still elusive on MTS network. If somebody can do this for MTS with data, I would probably be one of the first buyers of a good handset (non-RUIM) e.g. iPhone4S/hTc EVO 4G LTE/Google Nexus/Samsung GS3/Moto Droid Razr Maxx etc.
