  1. Sellers here cannot configure imported handsets to MTS network. Only Sadikk Seikh was selling MTS-enabled non-RUIM handsets. But he is not at all regular on this. And also he cannot sell handsets for MTS of non-Mumbai circles. So almost No-No for imported good handsets on MTS as of now.
  2. EVDO Speed Is Too Slow As Like 1X

Jd seems to be evading Administrator Arun ji's pertinent question, "who is the seller?". This is required here as a general issue is being discussed on Jd's initiation and he has raised finger at the seller too.
  3. I can fathom Avishek's sentiment very well. He's the person who indirectly introduced me to MTS. Because of him only I got interested in highly lucrative data tariff of almost omnipresent EVDO of MTS. Now the eccentric decision of MTS is compelling us to think otherwise. They don't have large user base; they have their licenses quashed. Instead of luring more subscribers with better tariff (like that of Uninor), they're going in a wrong direction.
  4. Yesterday I wrote the following mail..... Thank you for your response. I have thoroughly compared the tariff structure of MTS smart phones vis-à-vis other 3G services. This makes me to ask a few questions about the scenario we are presently in. Have you designed the tariff structure of smart phones for only those places/towns where there are no other 3G operators present? Your tariff structure are so non-competitive/ non-attractive that people from cities where other options are available will never go for this service. Why have you made the tariff the highest among all operators? Compared to that of the cheapest 3G available from Aircel, your tariff is just double. All other GSM 3G operators have reduced their 3G data tariff considerably and are around 25% cheaper than that offered by you. With a subscriber base of one of the lowest among all, don’t you want to attract more subscribers before the ensuing spectrum auction? Do you think after 7th September 2012 even if you survive the auction for being the only pure-play CDMA operator, you will continue to gain high ARPU subscribers with this tariff structure? Do you consider your smart phone tariff is MNP proof? Hope you understand my concern and convey this to your management. As a bonafide subscriber, I seek passionate view on this matter. With regards....
  5. News Snippets

^^^ I'm rather sceptical. I think 'Har Haath Mein Phone' is a big scam in the making. How many handsets of which make will be bought at what price?
  6. The nodal officer has apprised about the tariff just now: Ridiculous, in deed. I'm fed up with MTS. Yesterday I was informed that my number was already converted, but now in the last mail the nodal officer is telling that my number is under the process of conversion. Ridiculous again.
  7. Rudradeep (inception) is right to point out that there was no secrecy in MTS's offer of EVDO on OMH. In my locality the shop-owner who recharges for all operators showed me leaflets, folders and posters giving details of EVDO activation, tariff of EVDO (at that time it was Rs. 97.99 for 2GB, and Rs. 147 for 6GB) published by MTS itself. Telecom talk has published today an article on this unethical move of MTS.
  8. Contacted the nodal officer of MTS, West Bengal. He apprised that for EVDO, it's now needed to convert the existing numbers into MTS's smartphone's number. Then only EVDO will work, that too with SMART STVs. I'm going for that.
  9. ^ I don't think so. For the ensuing spectrum auction, one operator would like to vie for bigger subscriber base. MTS will lose subscribers by this move for sure, will not gain anything. If they wanted more subscribers to join (where there is already EVDO network), they could have allowed EVDO activation more in number and make the hsd tariff a moderate one so that it can be competitive in the market. MTS has a good network base where they have invested quite a good amount of money.
  10. This is unfair on the part of MTS. If they want to stop abuse of hsd on OMH, they could raise the tariff to make it at par with that of their smart phones. Who stopped them? I'm ready to pay the smart phone tariff for hsd. We, the subscribers did not compel them to float cheap hsd tariff on OMH. They allowed EVDO activation through SMS, allowed different hsd tariff for mobiles and Mblaze and smart phones. Now if they want to raise their income, they could have sent messages that the tariff of mobile hsd is being made at par with Mblaze/ MTS branded smart phones. Why they deactivated the EVDO?
  11. ^^^ Yes, I too suggest this buy from Parin. You'll find it excellent experience on the run.
  12. Do something, Kapil to find out way to use cheap EVDO of Tata. This is required if MTS loses its license in September.

  15. Video Calling On Reliance CDMA

I too agree with Avishek. GSM's video calling is a feature which just exists in paper. I never come across people making pure video calls over 3G. I never find anybody sending any MMS. Most of my colleagues/ friends who are using smart phones are using GSM connection. Haven't come across anybody sending any MMS or making any video calls. On the contrary, I make VOIP video calls using MTS's EVDO or BSNL broadband over wifi at my office on a regular basis. When there are good options of video calling using VOIP over 3G/EVDO at a very affordable rate (and across international border), what's the use of operator supported video calls? It's just a mind block, I think.
  16. Does CDMA support Video Calling?

For directly answering the query raised in the topic, I can say video calling on VOIP (Skype/Gtalk/Fring etc) is possible using EVDO (and wi-fi). I use my hTc incredible 2 regularly for making video calls on Skype using EVDO of MTS.
  17. Discounts & Deals For Non Electronics/Gadget Stuff

Bangkok and Pattaya: Rs.22,499 for a 4N/5D Ex-Delhi Fly & Stay Package! Includes Flights, Hotel Stay, Breakfast, Airport Transfers, Tours etc. Link
  18. As an MTS customer, I'd hope for aggressive marketing from them like this in a greater magnitude before the ensuing spectrum auction.
  19. iPhone 3GS at Rs.9,999 From Aircel

I'd never go for this. Very old phone with only 256MB RAM and other features which would be considered outdated. Similar offer from MTS with rebranded hTc Hero flopped. This is another temple where India is being used as dumping ground for an outdated product and in this case, Aircel is abetting that essay.
  20. The best thing about shopclues is that it allows simultaneous redemption of cluebucks (no upper limit) and discount coupons. Other similar sites allow either accumulated points (that too with a limit of around 10% for a transaction value) or discount coupons. Recently I bought a 16GB pendrive for Rs. 108 only after using up all my accrued 191 cluebucks along with discount coupon available on that day.

  23. There is something very special about Tata always right from its inception.
