  1. ^ Sanjay ji, my contention wasn't about readability or ease of writing of indic fonts on android handsets. The topic is on a dual sim android phone which supports indic fonts. The question is which one is the first in this category. Question of rooting or installing fonts doesn't arise here.
  2. Forum Software Upgraded to IP.Board 3.2

It can be seen from my attached screenshot (I posted it at 5:57pm) that amit.shah started a topic under Mobile OS/ Platform Discussion at 6:15pm today but I came across it before 6 'o clock in the evening. Hence the inference. It appears that he might have started the topic at 5:15pm (similar to my case).
  3. Forum Software Upgraded to IP.Board 3.2

My time zone was correct but DST was enabled. I've disabled that. I'll check. Thanks Arun ji. Yes, now it is showing the correct time. So it appears that amit.shah has the same glitch in his profile.
  4. Forum Software Upgraded to IP.Board 3.2

Arun ji, current time for a post sometimes gets wrongly reflected ( see the attached screenshot). I posted a few minutes back (around 5:58pm) but the time being shown as 6:57pm and one from amit.shah on twiking Play Store is being shown as 6:15pm. Now the time is 6:07pm, let's see what time is getting reflected in the post.
  5. ^^^ I checked Ace Duos and Galaxy Y (Galaxy Y Duos will be similar for sure) for access of indic fonts on various applications. As there are resident fonts on the handsets, vernacular websites, posts, SMSs, mails etc open flawlessly through all the stock applications. I checked by editing phonebook contact name replacing English with Bangla. It showed caller's name in Bangla. Only requisite was installing an input application (Multiling or Panini are free on Play Store) which are not pre-loaded. So imho, Ace Duos may well be crowned as the first indic language dual SIM android.
  6. Rajan ji, I've found on made-in-india Samsung Galaxy Y and Ace Duos (GSM+CDMA) handsets indic fonts open on stock applications like Gmail, messaging or Facebook and Bangla, Hindi etc text inputs can be done using Panini or Multiling keyboards. As these handsets have installed Indian language fonts, real-time rendering of texts occur while typing, making it easy to compose. Can Galaxy Ace Duos be classified in this category?
  7. Airtel Launches 4G LTE Broadband

^ I agree with Rudradeep. AirTel will never do anything for the common people. AirTel and Vodafone are like Pepsi and Coca Cola - two multinational giants fighting a false tariff battle. In a country like ours if there aren't aggressive players, we the small subscribers will never benefit.
  8. Airtel Launches 4G LTE Broadband

Also, this service is to be available for the time being on USB Modem and 4G enabled indoor wi- fi devices only (no smartphone). The technology is TD-LTE with a frequency that is power draining. Batteries on mobile devices will not be sufficient to cater for long time. USB modem takes power from the computer and wi-fi devices are externally powered.
  9. Airtel Launches 4G LTE Broadband

This has been in the news for some time now and Mr Kapil Sibal is here to launch 4G today. Kolkata has a history of having many things ahead of rest of the country (e.g. mobile phone, metro rail, rev B EVDO, Audi car etc) but in the long run it lags behind the other metros when the services get full swing. I don't know why companies prefer Kolkata to launch their pilot projects while they ignore this city and the state altogether afterwards? Anyways, the tariff of AirTel 4G is not good at all, beyond the reach of common users of course.

  13. Swiftkey 3 Beta Starts To Make The Spacebar Obsolete

Guiness world record is still with swype, [see here] (unbroken since it was set by Melissa Thompson on 22nd Aug 2010 inn UK) and this patented product is the most popular smart-phone input system. There must be some reason to be the fastest and most popular. Well, there can be personal choice always for products or applications to be used. e.g. I love Swype. And I wanted to post my view here because of the topic's heading (SwiftKey makes space bar obsolete). Swype made it also. There is no need to use the space bar.
  14. Swiftkey 3 Beta Starts To Make The Spacebar Obsolete

Is it better than Swype? I feel typing discreet alphabets will take more time than swyping. Swype adds space bar automatically when a new word is swyped, so no need to use the space bar. And also Swype can learn from SMS and other inputs (e.g. while typing text in Word or Excel file etc). I can swype really fast even Benglish (Bangla in English alphabets) as I've added most commonly used Bangla words in Swype.

  17. For almost last 5-6 months Reliance GSM was being sold as pre-activated 3G SIMs around Kolkata region @ Rs. 35 with 500 MB data valid for 30 days. 500 MB against Rs. 35 was a good choice without any document or photograph. It seems that this are not going to work any more right now.

  20. ^ Why Kanaga? MTS's voice and SMS tariff are also very attractive. Rs. 122 gives 30,000 sec off-net which is better than any operator's similar offer (even if you don't take 70,000 on-net secs into consideration); Rs. 9 gives 100 local+national SMS with 30 days' validity; Rs. 95 gives one year's 1p/2sec local calling; Full talk-time recharges (some top-ups even provide more in the form of promo balance which is helpful). Moreover, the voice signal availability/ stability is very good. It is better than Tata's CDMA network here. (I'm using Tata CDMA since its inception)
  21. ^ I'm getting optimistic day-by-day about MTS's prospect.

  23. MTS is celebrating 3rd birthday today by allowing unlimited On-Net local calls and more importantly unlimited EVDO data usage free for this day. So, whoever has MTS enjoy this. Download as much as you can and share your internet with others over Wi-fi generously.
