Updated: Pesky SMSs/Calls: Major relief to users from March 21, 2011
sougatadc replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
^^^ But you cannot term it USSD in case of CDMA. -
For a drive max of 800km/month (average 600km), is it better to go for the petrol? He is inclined for petrol. What is the mileage in petrol & diesel if considered against new Mumbai conditions (he gets 13-14kmpl on Honda City)? Do you suggest the VL considering its features against price?
-
Thanks for your detailed suggestions. My Brother-in-Law will surely test drive the cars, but as per your experience, the Altis is going to be THE choice, most likely. Wait for i45/i40 doesn't seem that worthy as per your suggestion. Since he will be required to pay the ex-showroom price only, what are the features that can be added to reach around 14Lakh? And what about the colour of the body you suggest (metallic vs non metallic as black/white Altis looks astoundingly good)? And any other suggestions on Altis those I'm failing to ask you?
-
Please also take into account Civic, Renault Fluence, VW Jetta, MS Kizashi and Sonata Transform. Can you throw some light on ensuing launch of Sonata 2012 version which is selling at around $20.8K in the USA? Does Altis supersedes all these cars vis-a-vis price/after sales/resale value/mileage/cost of parts?

^^^ This shouldn't be termed as USSD, because USSD is a feature of GSM. 'Flash Message' is more correct, I think. -
Thanks a lot @Dhiraj Kaile, Rajan Mehta and Abhishek for suggestions. I'll ask my brother-in-law to see the new Mahindra XUV 500, still the choice is narrowing down to Altis. He have already had a test drive on Cruze and disliked it. He was telling me about Laura but taking into account its poor after sales service, costly parts and low resale value, the choice surely takes a backseat. Today I rode a Superb, but it was so noisy, may be the particular car required maintenance. If it is 18.5L on-road, the budget of 14L is still to be extended, even if the registration, one-time tax and insurance is not to be paid by my brother-in-law, am I right?
-
Experts here especially @Dhiraj Kaile, please suggest the best option around Rs. 14 lakh (petrol/diesel) (exclusive of registration, tax and insurance) to be bought at New Mumbai (by my brother-in-law). He drives a City and wants an upgrade. He doesn't love SUV.

Airtel Faces Fine of Rs.50 Crore For Masking Caller ID
sougatadc replied to kshah's topic in The Lounge
^^^ And what about the SMS staring with TD, TM, DM, TZ, LM etc? Those are so annoying! Most of the pesky messages start with these. Although the Netsecure code from bank also bears this prefix. -
Just Superb Me too, like Niraj Desai is still will CDMA even after MNP only for this beloved forum. And this effort by Hetal ji will provide new scope of using the world phones as OMH. Thanks a lot again.

^^^ One correction: The packs (Tata Zone Internet Packs) will not work with username and password as 'internet'. To avail the packs, the username and passwords must be 'wapuser' else the charge will automatically be 40paisa/minute.

MTS Launches EVDO Data Plans For Mobile Customers
sougatadc replied to avishekghosh's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I went to the MTS franchisee here, OMH RUIM is available. But I'm not sure (the guys there are dumb) whether these RUIMs are for mobile phones only or can be used on MBlaze? The MBlaze available with them don't have RUIM slot. The MBlaze (unlocked) offered by Mohit Prakash (weapon-x) seems workable. I don't need another mobile connection (that too from MTS), but only for checking this special EVDO recharge of Rs. 97.99, I need to spend the following: Rs. 1600 for the modem if bought from weapon-x, (or Rs. 978 from the ebay seller for the same product, unlocked modem of MTS) Rs. 299 for the new activated RUIM (with Rs. 95 MSaver and Rs. 155 of talktime, which are not required by me) Rs. 97.99 recharge for EVDO i.e. Rs. 1996.99 for this experiment (Rs. 1374.99, if the modem is bought from ebay), which will be costly for me, if fails. I'm telling this because Avishek's post in Telecomtalk.info shows that it requires special activation from a handset. I didn't get any response from him regarding this when I asked some questions on this activation through PM. As per the conditions, it is mandatory to buy a netphone from MTS for this offer, but Avishek is using it on Galaxy Pop. I don't know the secrets of this special offer on OMH phones other than the netphones of MTS. This offer is still not avilable pan-India, hence very few people can throw some light on this. Rudradeep (inception) also couldn't get hold of it. If this offer is not launched pan-India, it will not last for long, I fear. -
^ There is no such Rs. 100 or Rs. 200 packs on MBrowse. You have to go either for Rs. 350 pack for 1034MB or Rs. 549 pack for unlimited usage of 1X data. Rs. 111 gives only 175MB and Rs. 175 gives only 300MB. These figures are for your circle. Check here:mtsindia.in/Karnataka/mbrowse.html

MTS Launches EVDO Data Plans For Mobile Customers

^ If that is the case, then point number three is my 'Khonj'. A new connection on an OMH RUIM, along with the recharge of Rs. 97.99, if works on a USB device, what else is required? Who will go for a locked phone that too with a mapped RUIM? Anyways, @Rudradeep, please let me know your experience. -
MTS Launches EVDO Data Plans For Mobile Customers

^ I want to know the case particularly for the OMH phones (like Avishek's G Pop), which are not net phones of MTS. If the plan allows this benefit only on net phones, how come Avishek uses the new recharge of Rs. 97.99? If this recharge is allowed for OMH phones, how MTS will know whether the OMH RUIM is being used on an OMH phone or on an MBlaze? Please let me know your result of recharging an OMH. -
MTS Launches EVDO Data Plans For Mobile Customers
sougatadc replied to avishekghosh's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Avishek has posted in Telecomtalk that the offer is available only when the OMH RUIM is bought bundled with the 'Net Phone' handsets offered by MTS. Such phones are Ivory, Buzz and Alive. But my questions are: Are these RUIMs handset locked? Or can I use a RUIM on an MBlaze? Avishek's post in Telecomtalk shows a screenshot of Galaxy Pop (OMH) with the particular recharge. Then the exclusive bundled offer with handset doesn't hold good. Is it so? I wanted to ask these questions in detail from Avishek. Sent a PM to him. But he didn't respond. Does anyone know? I want to use this on an MBlaze over wifi router. -

^^^ Why only RCOM? It should be the wake up call for Tata Indicom also. Karthik ji, you are a Tata subscriber, let's give them a strong dash. What's going on? We are sticking to Tata Indicom for cheap voice tariff, but no better handset, no good data! -

BSNL on the other hand is much transparent and cheaper also. It is maximum Rs. 3000. You will get hexa also.I bought 9434353637 for Rs. 1K only. Go for one, and then transfer your number through MNP. Simple. Check it here: http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/vanity.htm -
All 3G operators except Reliance GSM have tied up for all India 3G roaming

^^^ Yes, MTNL has interesting ISD rates. It's good to have an MTNL connection for ISD calls. I think it allows same ISD tariff on national roaming also. -

TATA & ZTE Tests Evdo Rev. B

^^^ @Santanu, you are an old corporate subscriber of Tata Indicom. You must have connections at the higher level of the company. Please try to convince them to consider potential subscriber base of Photon+ in large cities of West Bengal, Bihar & Orissa. This will be of immense help for the general subscribers like me.
