  1. ^^^ Yes Kanaga, I told you, I'm using it for quite some time with BSNL EVDO. Kesav suggested on this to me.
  2. Hidden Menu On Android Phone

Here are some more hidden menus. I've used a few of them on my Fascinate and found really helpful for changing some basic settings. My phone is not a rooted one. Rooting is not essential for using these codes. I shouldn't have to say it, but I will.. I nor this forum or the op is not responsible if you brick your phone. Play with these things at your own risk. Even if I said it's been tested by me and confirmed to work. It's not my fault if your phone takes a crap on you. Make a backup of your phone. To enable Hidden menu, do the following: Go into the Dialer and enter *#83786633 then press the Home key Go back into the phone dialer and enter *#22745927 Now a box will come up asking for the SPC code. Enter 000000 Press the Hidden menu Enable radio button. Now these codes can be used. Audio Tuning *#28346# Several audio tuning menus. I've only tested the two items below: To silence boot and shutdown audio go to Situation/BOOTSOUND and turn the values to 0. I've tested and confirmed this works. To silence the volume key audio when turning the volume up/down go to Situation/VOLUMEKEY and turn the values to 0. I've tested and confirmed this works. Full Bat Popup *#3844228# This allows you to disable the full battery pop-up. I have tested this and it works successfully. HwCodec *#0002*28346# Audio path volume controls. Most importantly, it looks like there's a sidetone adjustment. I have not tested any of these items yet. Shutdown *#7594# This enables you to shut your phone off by long-pressing the power/lock key. No more pop-up confirmation. I have tested this and it works successfully. I also need to point out that this disables your slide lock screen. Diag/Testing Mode *#4636*1111# GPSSetup menu *#1472365# The settings are set to the "fixed" values by default. You can go into Command and then start GPS and force a satellite lock. There's other cool info there too. *#7594# If your enable this, it appears to not only shutdown your phone with a long press of the power key, but it also disables your lock screen (puzzle/glass screen). I found the puzzle to unlock very annoying, so I disabled it. My phone screen opens without any lock. Enter GPS debug/settings application by typing *#1472365# click "Setup" tab click "position mode" Click "starting mode Enable "Cold Start" Back out. Very useful tests for the GPS!!! Setup/Position Mode/ Operation Mode: (Standalone/MSAssisted/MSBased) Starting Mode: (Cold Start/Warm Start/Hot Start) Session Type: (Single Fix/Navigation) Setup/Command allows you to test the GPS and look at the results *#INFO*1111# - Testing Phone information/Battery information/Battery history/Usage statistics Very useful diagnostics *#0*# - LCD TEST red/green/blue/melody/vibration/dimming/megacam/Sensor/touch/sleepmode/LED/RECEIVER Very useful tests for the LCD *#DATA*727336*# - DataCreate Call log/System Space/User Space/Phone Book/Schedule/Message/Ring tone/Screen/IMEI/ESN/Error log Very useful information!!! *#0228# - BatteryStatus Very useful real-time battery statistics! 3. BSNL has rationalized the prepaid tariff and introduced all new plans and vouchers. The date of implementation of the New Prepaid Plans and STVs has been 21.06.2011 instead of 10.06.2011 that was announced earlier. There are now 7 plans in all - Saral Anant, 1p/sec, all@49, 2G Special, 3G Special, Pyari Jodi and Student Special. One of the best features of the new offers is a new STV which offers unlimited free roaming incoming for 15 days aginst recharge of Rs. 12 only. And another voucher of Rs. 50 will allow on-net local mobile calls @10p/min. Earlier it used to require recharge of Rs. 149/month which gave a talktime of Rs. 70 only. Now with the new voucher one can save Rs. 29/month for on-net calls @10p/min. But all my try to recharge with new vouchers are failing. I tried several times at BSNL main franchisee, at a good store and finally at BSNL's main office, but to no avail. The helpline IVR is not working. The uniqueness of the software is that when it reaches the point of choosing the option of talking to the CC executive, the call snaps. Can anybody throw some light on this. Anybody has any similar or other experience?
  4. Cheapest EVDO on BSNL CDMA Prepaid

    ^^^ That's true for 1X against GPRS.
  5. Cheapest EVDO on BSNL CDMA Prepaid

No, it is EVDO. I discussed it earlier here in some other thread. My plan is a special introductory one. I'm lucky.
  6. Cheapest EVDO on BSNL CDMA Prepaid

BSNL's 1X coverage is the widest. They use it for their WLL service in the rural areas. And EVDO is present in maximum number of cities. The private operators just cannot match BSNL's presence. Private operators offer good services only at few selected big cities. At small cities either their service is dismal or they are not present at all (sans the case of MTS, they are spreading their net quite fast, although they are not present in all circles). BSNL's EVDO is the only respite in most of the places nationwide. This is also the cheapest. The speed at my place is also decent (although not as good as it was at the time of its launch). And for me it is Rs. 250 for unlimited usage in a month. I too crossed 100GB in a month.
  7. Cheapest EVDO on BSNL CDMA Prepaid

The thread is getting OT. Avishekh was trying to draw attention of the gurus to the fact that BSNL's cheap unlimited EVDO can potentially be activated on imported good handsets. BSNL's 1X is also omnipresent. So can this be tapped as a new option in using good CDMA handsets on BSNL network for Data/Voice?
  8. The new-look website of BSNL is stylish, non-clumsy and user-friendly. I wish their service also becomes good like this. According to the new site, some new STV and recharge vouchers have been introduced and some STVs have been withdrawn. A new voucher for 20p/min on-net has been introduced, but the STV of Rs. 50 for on net 10p/min is no more there. The Rs. 149 recharge voucher is not there but Rs. 65 STV has been introduced.
  9. How man? I was suggesting him to access internet over wifi on his hTc EVO only. So no question of selling it off to you
  10. Generally plugging a US device into Asian voltage (without step-down transformer) damages the device itself. You are lucky, your clock is still working. The clock must be having a backup battery inside which keeps it ticking inside when display power is off. That backup battery at least have been damaged, if not some more power-section parts have been damaged. Get the backup battery replaced, I think that will solve your issue.
  11. Help for selecting best HD DVR DTH service

Videocon offers best regional bouquet and it is cost effective also. At least here in West Bengal, the number of Bangla channels are the highest on Videocon and it is the only one DTH which offers some popular channels which no other DTH operator offers (e.g. Kolkata TV or TaraMuzik). So, my choice is Videocon. If HD signal is the choosing criterion here, I've nothing to say.
  12. You are using a very good handset. Based on your requirement, I can suggest you one cheap alternative for internet use on your handset. You can use any 3G usb modem with a portable wifi router and access internet on your handset over wifi. That will greatly reduce your mobile internet usage bill.
  13. Tata Indicom has raised the usage cap for internet both in prepaid and postpaid Starting from Rs. 5 prepaid daily pack which had 15MB cap (it has 50MB cap now), postpaid packs usage cap have also been doubled It is now 2GB for Rs. 43 and 5GB for Rs. 94 only. For details tariff on prepaid, postpaid mobile internet use and HSIA tethered use, see here.
  14. Also, no discount coupon can be used on mobile site. There is no option for that.
  15. letsbuy has come up with mobile site : m.letsbuy.com May be this was the reason their technical team was busy, configuring the new platform. I'm using it on my Fascinate.
  16. Bomb Blasts In Mumbai

The politicians and the media expressed their idiotic elation about the "Resilience of Mumbaikars". What about the sufferings?
  17. ^^^ Strange experiences galore with BSNL, in deed.
  18. Finally I could recharge my mobile with new Rs. 50 STV for 10p/min on-net local calls yesterday. The franchisee was at first refusing, but on my insistence he tried and it was through. I think, the problems in new STVs are over in our circle.
  19. Using 2-Way Walkie Talkie In India

^^^ Also, if your staff members work in a premises, you can use wifi internet to enable handheld devices into full-duplex walkie talkies over VoIP. Palm OS supports this feature. For this even Sony Clie, a very cheap palm OS PDA can be used. I've handled Sony Clie, it is a nice cute product. See here how to make Sony Clie a full duplex walkie talkie over wifi.
  20. It's opening here too. But it's so slow that it will surely fail in the process of payment. I've tried once. After the payment gateway pages, it failed at the confirmation page. The CC executive told me to wait for money refund. Try to buy something and confirm yourself. Just opening the index page is not sufficient, I think.
  21. Using 2-Way Walkie Talkie In India

Mobile on-net packs/plans are so cheap, it's far better to go for subscribing to same operator for all the staff members of a company than handle the hassles of using walkie talkie. Even if it is not CUG (that needs postpaid connections), on-net packs can reduce calls to 10p/min in many cases and even to 2p/min in Uninor. Some packs allow free on-net minutes/seconds which can extend upto unlimited duration e.g. Tata Indicom. Moreover, it is not user-friendly to use a walkie talkie. The mode of talking is mostly simplex. Unlike full duplex type of talking in mobile phones, where both persons can talk simultaneously, walkie talkies are mostly simplex types. Some are half-duplex types. Talking with someone by pressing a button and releasing the same for hearing what he says is cumbersome practice. Full duplex walkie talkies are costly.
  22. Talked with them few minutes back. The CC executive told me that their technical team is working 'very hard' to find out the problem. It will take some more time to get fixed.
  23. Even changing to Google DNS doesn't help now. I faced the problem and Pranav suggested the fix. But it is failing again.
  24. ^^^ It's great that you are using the phone. Please let us know your experience on it. What is the processor speed, 800 MHz or 1GHz? Dealsupto is giving two values in the same page. And what is the OS version?
