Indian Government Issues Termination Notice To Sistema Shyam Teleservices
sougatadc replied to faizca's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Nothing will happen. Take it from me, nothing will happen. No license will be terminated. The "Why your license will not be terminated.." type question is technically called Show Cause Notice (an SCN) which is mandatory for ensuring Natural Justice. A judicial body having power to adjudicate ought to provide ample scope to the respondent to defend himself. But the unique feature of Indian judiciary is that when a huge amount is involved, the justice is denied. Here also, the regulatory authority will be 'satisfied' with the replies from the defaulter lilcensees to the SCNs issued to them. Just see. -
This handset is available in letsbuy.com. By using Rajan's code 'camml98d3f609' it costs only Rs. 10,250/- Anyone keen can buy from there.

Used FF4 Beta for last few days. As I'm an FF fan on laptop/desktop, I'd love to use it on mobile also. Its lateral slide feature for accessing tabs, bookmarks, history, downloads and setting is quite a helpful feature. But the absence of Adobe Flash plugin is a big disadvantage. Will wait for the upgrade. I'm writing this using FF4 on my mobile.

Reliance Jio - Pan India 4G / LTE network
sougatadc replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Jio 4G LTE (Prepaid & Postpaid)
It has been apprised that through this move, Reliance will be first Indian operator to deploy this technology. But I read in this press release that Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL) signed contract with Huawei on 2 September 2010, to rollout an LTE-ready network in 5 circles- Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Kerala and MPCG. Great going. -
Reliance GSM - Problems ! Problems ! & Problems!
sougatadc replied to ipkonfig's topic in Miscellaneous
I never find anybody using RGSM here in West Bengal circle, at least I don't come across any person who provides his mobile number as RGSM. All of my friends who used to use RGSM have left it much before MNP. And it is now the turn for RCDMA. No postpaid, no EVDO, poorest 1X signal, not a single WebWorld in sight IMO, Reliance is not here to do mobile phone business. I mean West Bengal circle. -
BSNL Provide EVDO In SIM
sougatadc replied to me_saket's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
BSNL's Tarang uses CDMA2000 1X/IS-95A/ WLL / 800 MHz which was launched in March 2005 on an infrastructure by ZTE. Any 800MHz handset can be programmed as Tarang, technically it is feasible, but commercially not -
BSNL Provide EVDO In SIM
sougatadc replied to me_saket's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I agree with you, Raccoon. BSNL's Tarang and MTNL's Garuda were great but were not promoted at all. BSNL's 1X is almost omnipresent, but they didn't try to push either the FWT or the Tarang mobile as good services. Only they used to provide these WLL service to those places where laying cable for landline was not cost effective. Tarang is very much CDMA. The Fixed Wireless Telephone (FWT) phone of BSNL a la TataIndicom's Walky (using basically the same instrument, LG LSP 450T) as well as Tarang (CDMA mobile) and also MTNL's Garuda mobile, all use CDMA WLL (Wireless in Local Loop)technology, only point is that the FWT and Tarang are latched to one LSA by technical programming (roaming is not allowed) and that's why local landline tariff is allowed on these connections. For example, a Tarang CDMA mobile in Kolkata circle (STD 033)can be used anywhere from Budge Budge in the south to Kalyani in the north or from Barasat in the east to Uluberia in the west. But it doesn't work in West Bengal circle. The hardware in Tarang mobile is capable of working in any CDMA network but it is restricted in one circle through software programming. Thus the area of coverage of a Tarang mobile depends upon the jurisdiction of the STD code of that LSA where it has been subscribed. Larger the LSA, more mobile it behaves. In fact, any CDMA mobile handset available in the market can be used as Tarang mobile, but BSNL will not allow that. -
MNP Retention Offer You Received

This is cheating! I'm frightened -
Tata Indicom is much better, much transparent on this count No NUC, nothing. Just subscribe for the internet, use it and pay for it. That's it. No back-biting like Reliance. Netconnect plans, as suggested by Parin, is also too costly, 60p/minute :'(

^ As you have rightly said, it is really a personal choice...physical or soft keyboard; mine is soft one. Please read the detailed topic on Swype here you will find how fast it is. There is no question of reaching 40 WPM with physical keyboard of a mobile, and tap-typing (ABC keyboard) is much slower, everybody knows that. It's really bad that I'm repeatedly failing to make you understand what I'm intending to say. Anyways, I can type really fast as I can touch-type on computer keyboard. And that's the reason why I can type really fast on Swype too. And there is an added advantage of Swype... once a new word is tapped, it stores that word in its custom dictionary. Thus Hinglish/ Benglish etc messages can also be Swyped fast from next instance. Every friend of mine gets astonished about the speed with which I reply their text messages from my Fascinate, be it in English or Bangla (written with English alphabets).
-
No, Racoon, I got the point. Somehow, I failed to make you understand what I was telling. Typing on physical QWERTY pad on mobile phones with two thumbs might be not very helpful, but if somebody is comfortable with touch-typing, he will save considerable time and effort on SWYPE virtual keyboard, which is much much better than tap-typing (ABC keyboard). SWYPE is the fastest text input method on a touchscreen mobile phone, and the world record for text input on a mobile stands for 60 words per minute using a Samsung Galaxy S phone and this is possible with QWERTY keyboard only. Thus QWERTY can be used with one finger also
-
^ The rationale behind using a full keyboard on a mobile phone will be best understood if there is SWYPE. If anybody is comfortable in touch-typing, be it on QWERTY or DVORAK, he will find it fantastic and incredibly fast to type on virtual keyboard of SWYPE, either QWERTY or DVORAK. But I'm afraid, physical keyboards on mobile are QWERTY always. Anybody who loves DVORAK, will have to practice QWERTY for use it on physical keyboards of mobiles. Personally I prefer soft keyboards. And after using SWYPE on my Fascinate, there is no question of looking back.

There is no such option in Samsung Fascinate I'm unlucky. True, Dhiraj ji. Small prices paid for great flexibilities. But I couldn't pair my WEP 200 (Samsung made) bluetooth headset on Samsung Fascinate. But it recognised Jabra 3030.

Please Suggest A Good CDMA Handset Between 10K And 15K
sougatadc replied to joshm's topic in Handset Suggestions
Well, everybody here was noob at a point of time. And to be humble enough, everybody remains a noob till he dies. Hence a newbie should receive a cozy welcome from all of us. Everybody should be given ample chance to express himself (remember, master cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar scored his first century after 17 tests). To my mind, we all are Schrödinger's cats, marred by the famous paradox. Anyways, @Josh Mckinzie, you can follow Rajan brother's suggestions blindly, he'd never suggest you a wrong thing. He is a great researcher. -
How to Increase the Streaming Speed of Videos on EVDO connection?
sougatadc replied to drali's topic in General Technical Discussion
Isn't your connection speed the culprit? If your EVDO speed is itself low, you'll face these problems. Check the speed first. -

^ Or was it going to be a failed essay like Simputer, the "Poor man's computer" that was launched in 2004 by Picopeta Simputers Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru with much fanfare and finally couldn't live upto the expectations and succumbed to much better hardware and software alternatives from the international giants? -

Aircel India Mobile: Aircel Unlimited Gprs Service For Rs. 98 Per Month
sougatadc replied to iammanuarora's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Yes, it is aircelgprs only. I confirmed from one of my friends who uses this. -
Yes, almost all of the imported CDMA handsets by the GURUs here are non-RUIM handsets. And this is not easy at all to make it unlocked and particularly activation on TataIndicom is the toughest part of the whole process. If you want a new phone for TataIndicom, go for the one that Tushar has offered. He is highly dependable for getting a new handset on TataIndicom.

Updated: Pesky SMSs/Calls: Major relief to users from March 21, 2011
sougatadc replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Absolutely exasperating. -
Dhiraj ji, android is so open for all other applications, while it is not so user-friendly for settings like this one. It appears a paradox to me. I could not even find a way to make SMS delivery notification active on my Fascinate. I asked the question to everybody here, but nobody seems to have an answer. Even I could not pair one of my bluetooth headset to my Fascinate. That is Samsung WEP 200. Samsung handset fails to recognize own brand bluetooth headset, which was otherwise easily recognizable by my hTC Touch. These are somewhat offtopic, I beg apology for that, but I felt it necessary to tell it here.

As you are a heavy SMSer, SWYPE would be the best option for you. It can save a lot of time and effort in typing words. For this you have to have a touch-screen phone. If you can stretch your budget a bit (by 2K more), you can have a decent touch-screen, SWYPE input, android smart phone, which has 5MP camera, GPS and WiFi among other goodies. I'm talking about Motorola CLIQ XT which you can buy at Rs. 10,387 from ebay. Check it friend, before taking decision otherwise.

Isn't there any simple way to do it on Android as it can be done on Windows Mobile? Why there is no way to do it on the handset itself (by not connecting to desktop and doing it through CDMA workshop etc)?
