In a bid to fulfill social responsibilities, telcos have come up with reduction in ISD tariff for calls to Japan. MTS has slashed its ISD Call charges to Japan by approx 78% from existing tariff. Now ISD Calls to Japan from MTS Mobile and Land line phones will be Rs.1.99 per minute. For MTNL, the tariff reduction is around 75%. It will cost Rs.1.25 per minute to any Fixed line phone and Rs.4 per minute to call Mobile Phone network in Japan. Aircel was first to reduce the ISD tariff for Japan calls. It costs Rs. 1.50 per min to Fixed line and Rs. 6 per min To Mobile from Aircel. These are very commendable moves. Although mobile network in tsunami hit Japan is badly hit.

Fundraiser for MEID Registration and EVDO Activation on Reliance CDMA
sougatadc replied to Arun's topic in The Lounge
I'm also ready for such payment. Please think about the Tata Indicom MEID registration also, with EVDO. -
Will continue using my Fascinate till a much better handset comes into the schene or Tata Indicom forces me to port out my number to any GSM operator. Tata Indicom is not moving at all. No EVDO, no expansion, no choice of better handset, deteriorating customer care service are common features now.

Wrong info. There are a few lucky users like me, who are using imported handsets on Tata.

MTS Launches Android Phone MTS Pulse
sougatadc replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
An hTc Hero without any plan for Rs. 18,000 is bit costly especially for the Rimwebians. As considerable amount of talktime, SMS and data are available for free for one long year, that too on installment-based payment, why should one go for the handset without any plan? Anyways, thanks Rajan brother for the information. I don't understand why TataIndicom is still stuck to cheap crappy handsets only. They have gone upto corby but no android smartphones yet. -
T24...it's Not Prepaid, Not Postpaid, But The First Unpaid Mobile Service
sougatadc posted a topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Tata Teleservices Ltd and Tata Tele Maharastra introduces a new concept mobile service named T24 (see here). This is basically targeted to urban population and presently it is available in AP, Orissa, Kolkata and West Bengal. Although the tariff is not at all competitive, the pioneering concept introduced by them is attractive. One can earn talktime by shopping at Future Group Stores like BigBazar, Food Bazar, Central, Pantaloons, ezone, Home Town and Brand Factory or one can win potato, T-shirt or gift vouchers at different stores while recharging his mobile. Per second billing is default but one can shift to per minute billing by recharging with11 and can revert back by recharging with9. Daily 100 sms are free after 2 paid sms, i.e. by paying1.2 -
Nokia is set to launch its all-in-one smartphone Nokia E7 in the Indian market. The company has commenced pre-booking for E7 smartphone. It will be available for Rs.35,000. It has large 4 inch screen with a 4 line QWERTY keypad. It offers multimedia performance and a host of productivity applications including live stock prices, 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, secondary VGA camera for video calls, able to record video in 720p and is powered by Symbian^3 OS. But isn't it too costly vis-a-vis features? IMO this price would suffice a bit if it was on Windows 7. Source: ibnlive.com

Good comparison. I do realize, if Swype is present, physical keyboard is not at all necessary. It makes the handset much sleeker and lighter. I'm using it on my Fascinate and is in love with it.

What happened to Sadikk? Launching iPhone for RCDMA on facebook only, keeping silence here! The cellwalla.com page on facebook reads: CDMA iphone 4, Pre-Booking is here. Delivery in 10 days, 16 GB, Voice and sms working on delivery and data to work in 10 days. 10 handsets to go. get urs NOW. Price 31500/- call Zayed on 09819515198. Note - Its for Reliance only as of now. Coming soon on MTS. So it is Rs. 31500 for first 10 customers, friends. It's 16GB, not the 32GB one. No news of iPhone 4 on Tata. Long way to go for me, as my Fascinate is still quite new.

BSNL is not coming up with any new attractive plans.

Google is showing its humane face. It is not just a 'doodle' flashing website, commemorating important days/events only. On its homepage, google has posted messages regarding tsunami and earthquake. At the 'resources' link, google is providing the 'Crisis Response' a quintessential project which is immensely helpful. The page features: Alarm and warning, Disaster message boards, Transportation status (by trains and flights), Blackout information, latest news along with the all-powerful google map embedded in the page and also the newly launched 'Person Finder' service, which they provided during New Zealand disaster also.

I was watching the devastation on BBC. Highly shocking. Hope that the casualty will not be high in view of the preparedness of the Japanese especially regarding earth quake and other natural disasters.

Tata Indicom Introduces New 149 Pre To Post Plan
sougatadc posted a topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
A new plan with rental of Rs. 149 has been introduced for the existing prepaid customers to migrate into postpaid section. Against a monthly rent of Rs. 149 they are offering free talktime of 300 minutes. With local and STD calls @ Rs. 0.5, this is a no-loss-no-gain tariff offer. SMS is also @ Rs. 0.5 For roaming calls, outgoing and incoming calls are @ Rs. 1 while roaming STD is Rs. 1.5 This plan has no freebies. Will the prepaid subscribers move into the postpaid arena only for add-on pack options? -
This is micro usb connector. The micro USB specification is now scheduled to replace mini USB connectors in many different types of portable devices, including cell phones and PDA's. The micro USB technology was developed by the USB Implementers Forum, Inc. (USB-IF), an independent non-profit group that works to advance USB technology. When compared to the mini USB, the micro USB offers many advantages. The most obvious benefit to this new technology is its smaller size. As cell phones and PDAs become thinner and lighter, consumers are frequently finding the mini USB connector is simply too large for practical use. The micro USB will allow manufacturers to push the limits of this trend towards sleeker design. In addition to its smaller size, the micro USB is more durable than the mini USB connector. A micro USB features a stainless-steel shell to allow for over 10,000 insertion cycles, as well as a latching mechanism that provides higher extraction forces without sacrificing the USB’s ease-of-use for synching and charging your portable devices. The Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP) group has decided to standardize on micro-USB as the charging interface for mobile phones. The OMTP includes Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, LG, and Nokia. So let's hope all the manufacturers switch over to micro usb connector without further delay.

Tata Indicom Introduces New 149 Pre To Post Plan
sougatadc replied to sougatadc's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I meant to say that @ Rs. 0.5/minute, 300 minutes call cost Rs. 150. So, actually there is an offer of only 2 free minutes To lure prepaid subscribers into more loyal arena of postpaid section, they should offer a bit more. -

Kanaga is damn right. When will EVDO be launched at our place? Only God knows the answer. -
Tata DoCoMo introduces 3G wireless internet (they have named it 3G e-stick). The price of the device ranges from Rs. 1999 for HSUPA to Rs. 4000 for HSPA+. The unlimited tariff (both for prepay and postpay)starts from Rs. 1000 (3.6 Mbps till 5 GB) and it is Rs. 2000 (21.1 Mbps till 15 GB). Nice tariff range along with choice of devices although there is FUP.

Feeling proud to be someone from Shantiniketan, the place of Rabindranath. Rabindranath received Knighthood in 1915. But In 1919, he wrote the historic letter to Lord Chelmsford repudiating his Knighthood in protest of the massacre at Jalianwalabag, Punjab. Thence, 'Sir' is not used with his name.

Samsung Fascinate dialer does allow Call Conferencing. I'm using it every day. It's very simple. While on the first call, just dial the second number (either by putting in the number through the dial pad or by searching from contact list), the first call will go on hold automatically and while the second call will be initiated, the 'add call' button will change into conference call icon. When the second person replies, just by tapping that button, the conference call takes place. But there is obviously a problem with Fascinate. This process doesn't work while on roaming. Earlier on hTc Touch I needed to dial '3' before adding the second call while roaming. But adding a '3' doesn't help on Fascinate. Can anybody throw some light on this? How to do a conference call while roaming on Samsung Fascinate? I was going to ask gurus on this.

Arun ji, please make correction on the typo error for Samsung Fascinate. It appears 'Samsing' in the profile field.
