  1. Google Shows Off Maps 5.0 On Samsung Nexus S

Simply great! I wonder when Indian networks as well as maps will be mature enough to cater to 3D details of any city in India like this. Let's hope.
  2. Samsung Gloria - New Tablet?

    Good observations.
  3. Me too. Used to use a batch file to automate downloads (previously queued in download manager) during night. By that process, my usage used to cross 60-70 GB every month. Now with unlimited usage internet, no such planning required any more.
  4. Copycat of PPC from Reliance. But Rs. 24 for 7days only is too high. It will be a flop.
  5. Is this speed at your place (Meerut), Dhiraj ji? If yes, your decision to stick to RCDMA (post MNP) is a prudent one.
  6. Me too. Now I voted negative. My primary number on TataIndicom will stay with me. Because of the same reasons: best voice tariff, best voice quality, best 1X internet tariff and availability. My rent of Rs. 291 includes .unlimited Tata world local calls, .conference calling (which I use to the fullest and save lots of bills for my on-net family members and relatives who talk relentlessly using my conference call), .350 SMS, .per second billing with 3000 sec free, and .1GB data. The only bottleneck is that I'll be required to go on using my good old hTc 6900 (no wi-fi, registive touch screen, no accelerometer) Owing to non-avilability of voting options, I couldn't vote +ve for prospective porting of my second number (a BSNL one) which I may port after observing the post-MNP offers of the other operators. Thus this thread will not project the proper picture. Persons having more than one number and having mixed decision for porting either cannot take part in this voting or if he votes for one number, cannot vote for any other number.
  7. Any reviews for BSNL 3G Data Card?

Tariff vis-a-vis speed for unlimited is much better in case of BSNL's EVDO than 3G at our place. The tariff for unlimited usage in 3G is just double to that of EVDO ( Rs. 1499 and Rs. 750 ) and the speed is almost comparable. Speed is still a bit better in 3G though.
  8. Non SMS Stuff

    Nice moral story...
  9. There has been a definite survey on this by Neilson and Networth which I attach above. The subscribers are ready to port for different reasons like brand value, better offers, better handset options, better Value Added Services, better network coverage or mostly for tariff. Indian telecom market predominantly comprises prepaid subscribers (more than 91%). High-end subscribers are mostyly postpaid subscribers. However it is only possible if such high end customers are unhappy with their present operators regarding quality of services and network. Therefore with rise of MNP all operators are trying to improve the quality of services so as to retain their subscriber’s especially high end users. However, such high end users will not be attracted much by low tariffs because their mobile usage expense is much lower as compared to disposable income and that is why they would like to remain stick with their present operators. Also with the 3G launch which will provide better voice quality, lower dropped calls and improved network along with enriched VAS experience which will be enough to attract high end subscribers. In case of CDMA subscribers MNP is going to hit more due to boundaries of limited number of mobile handset. For a subscriber like me with great expectation on high-end handset will suffer if service provider like Tata Indicom continues with their policy (not being broad-minded at all). To grab the opportunity through MNP telco’s have started aggressive promotions & marketing campaigns along with fresh offerings for new customers, such as: • Idea started the advertisement “switch to Idea” and is also providing many attractive offers as well. • Tata DoCoMo has launched a section on Mobile Number Portability. The offers include free talk‐ time and Free 3G services usage. • BSNL is also offering free talk time of Rs. 100, and free unlimited GPRS for a month. The survey by Neilson and Networth projects that the impact of MNP might be neutral on AirTel, Vodafone and Aircel and positive on Rcom, Tata and !dea.
  10. This is what I wanted to ask but couldn't because my friend Rajan would take it otherwise. He takes great pain in designing (e.g. the one for voting for the Member of the year which also didn't fare upto his expectation. The mods put in the first page of the forum, requested everybody to vote, still only a small percentage of us bothered. There is only one way left, it can be made mandatory...you vote first to add a new post ) Mobile Number Portability: Not much of a game changer The initial reaction of the introduction of MNP in Haryana indicates minimal churn in early days but Haryana circle represents only 1% of the total subscriber base and may not give a right indication. Less than 2% prepaid subscribers and 4%-5% postpaid subscribers in Haryana circle are expected to opt for MNP noting the current porting requests in 14 days. Tata Teleservices have got about 21% of the customers who have opted for MNP while for RCom out of the total movement on postpaid, 80% are port in (those who want to join RCom). In value terms, this is 73% of the total value of port-ins and port-outs (those who wish to leave RCom) put together. RCom has been concentrating on getting only high paying post-paid customers as ARPU in this category is equivalent to 10 pre-paid subscribers while Vodafone Essar is assertive on retaining existing customers and attracting fresh high end customers. Post pan-India MNP launch we might get a better view of its effects on different service providers and 3G launch at the same time would also play important role in MNP,” says Networth Stock Broking research report. 11. My Dear Rajan might have missed my intended pun. Anyways, it would be great if there was option for nested questionnaire. The first question should start with Y/N. If Y, then proceed to GSM/CDMA, if GSM then BSNL/AirTel/Voda/Uninor/DoCoMo..so on and if CDMA then RCDMA/Indicom/MTS etc. In this way, whole picture can be obtained...how many numbers are going to get ported, to which technology and to which service provider. My dear Rajan please don't get angry on me so easily. With the word 'redundant' I wanted to say that all the polls that took place could have been merged to make a fruitful one.
  12. All these exercises are getting redundant. The voters will get confused just like other votes (loksabha or Bidhansabha) There already have been similar votes earlier here, here and here. Only change is the voting on whether a subscriber is leaving his current operator or not. This portion can be incorporated in the first voting.
  13. Tata Indicom has partnered with eSSecom to offer CellPay (Direct Debit to Account) Solutions. According to the company, eSSecom's CellPay solutions will provide consumers efficient, convenient and secure way to make their payments through their mobile phones using funds in their bank accounts (Direct Debit to Account) or through credit card. This service is available for all Tata Indicom postpaid mobile subscribers across Karnataka. Commenting on this strategic alignment, Sanjeev Khera, regional head, South Hub and chief operating officer, Karnataka Circle, said, "Our tie up with eSSecom's CellPay is a great opportunity for us to continue to provide the best and advanced services to our customers. With the launch of this revolutionary service, Tata Indicom subscribers will now be able to experience a robust and powerful payment gateway service application on their phone. We are confident that this service will change the way people transact and we at Tata Indicom are happy to partner and pioneer the revolution." K Sambasivan, managing director, eSSecom, added, "CellPay is a part of our unified payment processing suite that encompasses the mode of mobile payment. We are pleased to collaborate with Tata Teleservices Limited and are confident that this service will redefine the way financial services are approached." The CellPay solution is available for customers who are registered for mobile banking with CellPay connected banks. The registered customer has to create a unique PIN by calling the CellPay IVR. Once the number is generated, the caller is eligible to avail all the benefits. Customers using CellPay service have two options to make payments. One, they can either use an SMS requesting for payment using their CellPay virtual number where in they will get a confirmation of the payment via SMS on their phone. Secondly, the customer can also opt for an application available on the handset to make the payment. Here the customer has to simply select the CellPay application on the phone as a payment option post which a confirmation SMS will be sent to the phone once the payment is received. Source: 91Mobiles
  14. Yes, EPIC's multi-touch is superb and its performance is mind-blowing. And it has got everything. Its Wi-fi also works great.
  15. RCDMA has recently raised its Pay Per Call tariff to Rs. 1.2/3min(local or STD). Previously it was Rs. 1 for the same pulse.
  16. @Saket, both Rs. 248 and Rs. 598 are for Mblaze, that's why the confusion. In the same page the EVDO limit has been shown as 15GB and 12GB
  17. Then what about this link? And what about my other question (regarding unlimited usage tariff)?
  18. Nice initiative Kamal bhai. I use 1X 2.5GB plan on TataIndicom. I use it extensively for browsing, chatting, watching youtube movies, emailing to name a few. This is really handy. And unlike RCDMA, here is no network usage charge So I'm quite satisfied.
  19. If you have a Micro SIM Cutter in hand, this offer looks redundant
  20. Can anybody tell what is the difference in the EVDO tariff difference between MTS's Rs. 248 and Rs. 598 cards? In their official website, against both the cards validity of 30 days and free data usage limit of 1GB is given. Also in the unlimited data usage page (Rs. 999), at one place it is written the FUP for high speed data is 15 GB and just below it is given as 12 GB Which is correct? This is relevant because Cellwalla's latest USP is handsets bundled with EVDO from MTS.
  21. OS vs OS (Mobile)

In love with Windows since 2003 SE days and still using 6.5. Had to use Symbian (because I used Nokia). Wanted to use Android on a new handset, but Tata is stopping me to switch over.
  22. Nothing will happen to them. Nothing happens to errant biggies in India. They have almost 1.5 crore subscribers.
  23. What will happen to unwanted promo SMS such as those prefixed by TD/TM/TA/BL/TI or BV received from none other than the operator itself and some advt calls requesting the subscriber to download songs or caller tune although he is registered with DND?
