  1. This offer along with 'Pyari Jodi' offer where landline customers can now take a free SIM card and make unlimited free local calls to his/her landline/WLL number are desperate attempts on the part of BSNL to save landline phone. This is apparent from MOS Sri Pilot's observation on the day of launch : "The aim of this promotional plan “PYARI JODI” is not only to boost mobile business of BSNL, but also arrest steep decline in the landline business." Time will say how these steps will be successful to save landline phone of BSNL.
  2. Post MNP launch, Tata Indicom is now luring subscribers from other networks (albeit for Haryana circle only for the time being). They have shown a list of reasons why a subscriber should switch over to Tata Indicom.
  3. Great, Sumit ji, you raised my hope.
  4. One point is clear it will be difficult for a caller to track which subscriber is with which operator. The apperant on-net subscribers might have left his network or subscribers from other operators would have migrated into his network. So it will be risky to use on-net plans.
  5. Now there will be Port-in offers galore like this This is what we are all waiting for. The offers should not be for one month only. To lure subscribers, there should be more attractive offers. I'll wait what RCDMA brings out in our circle for MNP.
  6. You still need an internet connection on your mobile phone. Not necessarily. Since IMPS can be made available in various form like SMS, USSD, thin Client and Thick client, it can support the transactions from low end mobiles to high end mobiles to serve everyone’s needs. IMPS based on SMS or USSD protocols (on GSM) will not require internet connection on mobile phone.
  7. +1 for you, Kesav for highlighting this. What is the link for Axis Bank? I couldn't find. I called the priority account relationship desk for this but they are in the dark about this. It will surely open new avenues for payments. However the mobile network should be more steady for this service. A momentary snap in the network, which causes call drops may also cause failed transactions. Exigent payments while on the move becomes sometimes a necessity, but network problem should not be the constraint.
  8. Reliance Calculated My Usage as Rs.6824

I think yes. They should give you waiver on rent and the add-on packs on pro-rata basis for the period your account was blocked by mistake.
  9. Today evening, it has been confirmed in the news that MNP is getting launched on 25th November in Rohtak district of Haryana.
  10. Opera Mini is quite good and it is considerably faster compared to Opera Mobile 10 or even Opera Mobile 9.7 beta. Internet explorer on mobile is not at all user-friendly which also lacks tabbed browsing. I love Opera Mini for another reason, it allows opening of vernacular sites by enabling "Use bitmap fonts for complex scripts". By enabling this, I can open any Bangla site on my mobile (any other Indian language site can also be opened). But Rimweb pages don't get displayed entirely on Opera Mini. This creates problem as at the lower side of the page, some entries get vanished. I'm attaching screenshots of my phone below (I could attach only the zoomed out first two pics to show the vanished threads/posts, the third one is of normal size, showing blank posts). I never found any problem in browsing any other website. Mods, please look into the matter.
  11. RIMweb compatibility with Opera Mini

Arun Ji, I was trying to point out that the websites which have options for mobile view (in addition to standard/classic/full) also open without any problem in full or classic view on Opera Mini. Most of these websites open in mobile view by default when browsed from mobile (their server identifies the IP as that of a mobile and sends pages for mobile only), but when those pages are viewed in classic/full view, those can be viewed fully also. Here, it is not the case in our forum. I've tested it by opening many forum pages based on most popular forum softwares like vBulletin, Vanilla, SMF, MyBB, phpBB, Phorum, FUDforum etc but never faced this problem. I understand, IP.Board has provided a mobile view skin, hence they will not recognize it as a bug. Still it remains a question why those websites with mobile view option are opening flawlessly on opera mini when I open them in classic or full view option. Whereas our forum fails. Anyway, I'll go on using our forum on mobile skin; or by refreshing parts of pages on standard skin.
  12. RIMweb compatibility with Opera Mini

I pointed out in the thread I initiated on the Opera Mini issue that with all the skins I had problem. But now mobile skin is working well. I think there was compatibility problem with Windows Mobile. Kumar Shah was also facing problem with Windows Mobile, while you were not. But I wonder why there are issues with our forum, while any other website opens perfectly on Opera Mini. The websites, which automatically sets into mobile view (by identifying the IP of mobile) also open without any issues when I select classic/full view (e.g. google, IBN live, CNN etc.) Also it never failed to open popular forum xda-developers.com on full view (it doesn't have any mobile skin - only XDA 2010 or XDA Classic styles are available, both open on opera mini flawlessly) This is why I raised the issue of compatibility of opera mini for our forum. Anyways, I'll now use it on mobile skin.
  13. RIMweb compatibility with Opera Mini

But the Opera Mini issues are yet to be resolved. I've got used to the problem. Partial blank pages of this forum on Opera Mini. After zooming in, refreshing the page removes the blankness. This process is required to be repeated whenever a new page (of course of this forum only) is visited.
  14. There was a thread on T24. So this thread might be merged with that. See here.
  15. Reliance Website New Look

    No issues on FF also.
  16. This is a typical problem with prepaid connections. Unavailability of proper recharge coupons, non-conversant vendors selling recharge coupons, finishing balance at odd hours, non-transparent billing, roaming problem in certain parts of the country (J&K or North Eastern states)........
  17. Reliance Calculated My Usage as Rs.6824

The credit limit should be high otherwise the unbilled usage will automatically bar calls after certain limit. Prompt bill payment helps in increasing the credit limit. I pay my bills promptly and my credit limit has gradually increased to Rs. 13,800/-. No fear of call-barring owing to high unbilled amount.
  18. So, the chances are bleak that this new venture will be a hit
  19. I agree fully with you, my dear Kesav. I've used GPRS/EDGE of BSNL, TataDoCoMo (2G), RGSM and AirTel or even BSNL 3G. My 1X is far better (in terms of stability and avilability), be it at home or in roaming, in towns/cities or in moving train. It seldom disappoints.
  20. Tata might have named these packs as Internet packs, but I've activated it and use WAP, and my itemized bill shows I've used Internet and it gives a list of the innumerable webpages I've visited along with other details like usage amount etc. I'm charged as per Internet Plan's tariff only. Tethering is not allowed with these packs. It is clearly written in the terms & conditions.
  21. I use 8080 on it. Push email I never require. Social Network is accessible, I can go for classic view or mobile view of Facebook. I also chat on facebook. I listed above the access I enjoy with WAP. I face little problem with this for surfing the net on mobile.
  22. Good suggestion, my dear Kesav. But how many active/ regular Rimwebians reside in West Bengal, I think at the most 3 or 4. There may be other members from WB circle, but they don't visit the forum regularly. This is why I approached all the members. Yes, as the tariff is almost similar, the deciding factors will be Network quality/VAS/Billing/CC etc. Also GSM/CDMA or Post-paid/Pre-paid factors are also very much important. So, isn't it proper to ask all the Rimwebians on this? Please reply.
  23. Dear Kesav, I also noticed that. But that cannot be a plea to hike the tariff. This is not ethical. Snatching Rs. 320 from customers for 1GB (that too 1X data) is too much. Thank God, I'm on postpaid. I'll enjoy cheap tariff both below and beyond the usage cap.
  24. Full Internet can be accessed with these WAP plans. I used it considerably on NOKIA 6255/6275 and currently using it on a regular basis on hTc Touch with postpaid tariff plan. I access all html websites including banks/rail/gmail; use my Employer's (Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue) websites [ CBEC or ACES], download /upload attachments, access Google map with GPS, read newspapers in English and also Bangla, chat with my friends on facebook, download and watch youtube clips, check weather data and read/write on this forum...... all with 1X data only (our place is not covered by Photon+ signal, so no question of using that). But I couldn't access VOIP (e.g. Skype)on my mobile. So, is it useless?
