Request TATA Indicom To Activate EVDO on Non RUIM Handsets
sougatadc replied to gaurangbhartia's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Such an abject success rate, that too for a person of stature of Hetal! I'm pessimistic about handset sales to Tata subscribers by all the sellers here. Do something, friends. -
Request TATA Indicom To Activate EVDO on Non RUIM Handsets
sougatadc replied to gaurangbhartia's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I couldn't understand what Partha wanted to tell. Did he ask the members of this forum to write mail directly to Anil Sadarna or to the Mods so that those will be forwarded to Anil Sadarna? Partha has reproduced a portion of the MD's mail which is creating confusion. -

Kesav, no need to be sarcastic. It's a routine observation. Every year, Central Govt offices observe Vigilance Awareness Week. -

If only the UI is 3D, is it similar to Micromax X550 3D or Q5 3D? After all they are Chinese siblings. -

Simply a personal opinion. One shouldn't influence others like this. -
Image Quality of DSLR vs Compact Camera
sougatadc replied to drali's topic in General Technical Discussion
Thanks Parin. Rajan, that cute girl is my beloved niece. I just uploaded a few assorted snaps (The CST station-Mumbai, Utsav Chowk-Kharghar-Navi Mumbai (a long exposure), My pet cat-Pingley, A farmer, Butterfly in the rice field near our locality etc to show how different moods can be captured on a DSLR. After all a picture says thousand words. -
Image Quality of DSLR vs Compact Camera
sougatadc replied to drali's topic in General Technical Discussion
Only optical zoom is not sufficient. Compact cameras give flat picture, with DSLRs a photo can have depth of field. By controlling shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, exposure time among other things DSLR can create magic. For a potrait, DSLR can make a subject stand out of its surroundings, which is not possible with compact cameras. The CCD size of a DSLR is much bigger than that of a compact camera, hence with same mega pixels, its image quality is much better. I'm attaching a few snaps that I took recently on my Nikon D90 with 18-105mm VR lens. Just check the quality of the pics, the depth of field, the vividness. Then decide. P.S. I could not upload the original pics, they were more than 3MB of size. The quality is just amazing, but I cannot share here. The upload limit is the limiting factor. -
That can be 100% true, as it is BSNL. I'm sorry. I never used this service, so I don't have any hand-on experience.

May I ask Arun to make the symbol to appear a bit smaller? The size you made looks a bit large.

BSNL's CDMA signal is omnipresent, either 1X or EVDO. They use 1X signal for WLL service and offer remote places with FWT phones through this signal only. Internet on 1X is also very cheap @ Rs. 250/month unlimited. Mobile CDMA phones (service name: Tarang mobile) are also offered by BSNL but only for rural people. CDMA Mobile Sets which comply with specification IS-95A / 800 MHz can be used in WLL. One important bottleneck is there, they don't allow full function roaming with this mobile. These phones can be used in a particular locality bound by the STD code. The larger the area covered by the STD code, bigger is the area where this mobile will work. If a person takes this connection in Kolkata (STD 033), he can use it in a vast area from Kalyani to Budge Budge and from Barasat to Chuchura. But in a small town having only a few BTSs, the use is highly restricted. But BSNL has allowed roaming for its EVDO data device anywhere in the country. If EVDO modem's ESN is programmed into a handset, data can be accessed anywhere. But on that handset, will calls be possible?

Dot Rings Mobile Number Portability
sougatadc replied to coolrajiv's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
It was reported that there would be two portability zones in India. Can anybody throw some light on this? Which zone West Bengal will be in? And what will be the process? How much time will it take for the switch over? What will be the application procedure? Will there be a full-fledged online application platform for the subscribers? TRAI should introduce one such thing. Otherwise there is a possibility that a subscriber will get cold shoulder when he/she will approach his/her parent service provider with an application that he/she no longer wants to continue. This will be a very big problem in near future. -
Actually, it's all my frustrations which are playing while I'm writing anything against these marvels. I wanted to possess one on Tata with some preconditions. The Tata guys here at West Bengal will never co-operate to have it smoothly. Secondly, I live in a place where Photon+ signal is not there. I use data pack on my postpaid Tata which work only when userid and password are used as "wapuser" and it requires proxy settings on the handset also. I'm handicapped and the great sellers on this great forum are finding me nagging. Hence I became a bit skeptical.

Hide And Password Protect Your Files And Folders For Free
sougatadc replied to abhi.r's topic in General Technical Discussion
In my case it didn't work. In the batch file, I replaced "My_Folder" with "My_Nikon_D90" and when I ran the file, it made the folder just a bit transparent. And when I replaced "My_Folder" with "C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\My_nikon_D90" and ran the batch file, it not only made the folder less opaque, but renamed it as "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" Mine is Vista Business original on Dell Vostro 1400. -
Thanks for pointing out the weakness of EPIC especially in GPS is very important. From the pics it is very clear that EPIC is quite bulky (in terms of depth at least). The days are over, people wouldn't mind to handle bulky phones like Jasjar or Mogul.

BSNL Slashes Its 3G Internet Further
sougatadc replied to in.raghav's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I wish if the signal was a bit stable and available at more places. At our place, 3G signal fades away even at an aerial distance of 2kms. -
Yes, it is working. Thanks a lot Arun. I think you modified further, so it is working. I edited my post number 11 a few times. But now it is showing that the post hasn't been edited ever. Anyways, thanks again.

I wanted to see whether it is working for me or not. Because in Arun's post it is showing and in Tanveer's post also it is showing but I cannot see when I'm writing as Arun has guided and clicking on the 'Preview Post' button. Also these days, I cannot just try a post and if not required, delete the post. The 'delete' option for a post has been withdrawn. I don't know why. Can anyone tell what wrong I've committed? I have written a capital 'R' and a small 's' with no gap in between; and then I've put a '.' there. Why in my case the symbol doesn't get generated? I've cleared the cache and also tried Ctrl+F5 but with no avail. I'm on Vista Business on my laptop where I could not load Rupee Foradian font. I use that font on other computers on word processors and spreadsheets. But here in Arun's and Tanveer's post I'm able to see the symbol, but not in my post. Please help. Rs.

Tata Indicom Fly Mobile Launch Dual Sim Gsm+Cdma Phone Cd588
sougatadc replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Strongly promoting! BSNL officers in most of the places have not even heard about EVDO on mobiles. It will be like their 3G venture. After spending crores of rupees on 3G network, BSNL has little more than 7 lakh subscribers all over the country after almost 2 yrs' of its launch and it is less than what MTNL has in two circles. I've seen only BSNL officials occasionally making video calls to their colleagues, that too for fun only. -
Now Possible - Tata Indicom Migration From Postpaid To Prepaid Migration
sougatadc replied to HetalDP's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
TTML operates in Andhra? IMHO it's not true. Check this. TTML and TTSL are different entities, registered separately in the bourses. They also offer different plans and tariffs in prepaid and postpaid. e.g. Pay Per Call is not available in TTML circle. I wanted to mention that when Saket from Nagpur could migrate long time back, it was surely available in Nasik also. I voted Hetal's post nonetheless, wanted to cheer up the positive move. -
Tata Indicom Fly Mobile Launch Dual Sim Gsm+Cdma Phone Cd588
sougatadc replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
In India, there are 39732 postal codes (PIN codes). If we consider on an average 3 PINs in a locality, that gives a whopping 13244 towns/cities. India is a very big country, and its population is even bigger. EVDO coverage is not only negligible, statistically it is beyond reach of most of the mobile user masses both geographically and on monetary count. EVDO on mobile will remain a thing of the rich people for next few years. The crores of mobile users who save money to buy mobile handsets and recharge coupons will not be able to use EVDO/3G in near future. BSNL's EVDO is not for mobile phones.
