Billing after termination and forced to pay
sougatadc replied to dr madhusoodanan's topic in Reliance Communications
I've a similar issue with Reliance Insurance. My brother flew to US on 22nd Sep. I was paying for the travel insurance of his family. The process failed after the payment and the policy didn't generate. We were in a hurry, and I bought a fresh policy against a new invoice. But I'm yet to receive the amount which I paid but the policy was not generated. It was supposed to be reverted within 48 working hours. In similar failed transactions earlier, I got my money back from IRCTC or MakeMyTrip etc. The Toll free line is not helpful, leads me to blind lane and the complaint cannot be lodged. -
Internet Explorer Market Share Dips Below 50 Per Cent
sougatadc replied to kesav's topic in General Technical Discussion
IE always copies Firefox (starting from tabbed browsing). I'm a Firefox fan. But recently Firefox is crashing sometimes, I don't know why. And some payment gateways have problems with Firefox (applets don't open) and some houses still consider IE as the standard browser and design their sites for IE only. Bitstream vernacular fonts don't get generated on Firefox. To the best of my memory, opera started tabbed browsing, In that sense firefox has also copied. Both me and Tanveer are wrong, check it here. Netcaptor was pioneer in tabbed browing (1997). Firefox was first to copy (September 2001) and then Opera (December 2001). Apple did it in 2003 and IE in 2005! -

What will the numerous subscribers of EVDO based wireless BB from Reliance, Tata, MTS or BSNL do? Avoid this Dell tablet? There are drivers for Windows, Linux or Mac. No way? -
Good features vis-a-vis low price are taking Micromax through. Micromax handsets' build quality are not at all bad either.

Dell Streak Launched For Rs. 34,990 In India with Tata DoCoMo

Affordable compared to HP Slate or Ipad but costly compared to Binatone HomeSurf which is sub 9K. I want to know how to use wireless broadband modems (Photon+, NetConnect, MTS Blaze or BSNL EVDO) on these droid tablets. Can anybody suggest where the drivers of these devices are available? -
The reason might be that the ROM has been cooked on a non-GPS platform. e.g. there are otherwise nice ROMs available for Touch which are cooked on Touch Viva platform, a non-GPS model.

Carrying two Gurus in your two pockets is a good idea. I use one GSM Guru for my BSNL connection. It is a nice phone vis-a-vis its price and features. And the CDMA one is good also as suggested here.

Idea Launches 3G Net Setter .
sougatadc replied to viper_in_blood's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Everybody is waiting for 3G. All the operators have spent a lot on this count, and when it will be launched, they will have a huge burden of interest on the principal they have invested. So, what will be the tariff to reach the break-even point for 3G? This is becoming a bigger and bigger question with passing days. -

Government bans all Bulk SMS / MMS temporarily?
sougatadc replied to thilak.kmb's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
They blocked even the NetSecure code SMS facility of internet banking! So, I could not do any online transaction for these days. It cost me a good amount of time on the bill payment and railway reservation queues. How come a government think that banks will send bulk SMSs which are communally inclined? So exasperating! -

Rajan might have missed one important word 'handsets' which I uttered while commenting on the success or failure of brands in our country. Otherwise he wouldn't be required to take so much of pain in describing success of these brands in electronics industry. Asus, HP, BenQ, Acer, Sharp, Toshiba are no doubt leaders in their respective fields, but not at all successful handset sellers in India. Rajan should know that Pantech and Palm are very much in India. Their presence can be checked from here and here. For Pantech there were some CDMA sets like PA 711 or PA 715SC also which were very much in TataIndicom's stable. Palm succumbed to Microsoft's popularity in smartphone's OS market and rolled out their Windows Mobile Palm Treo which was here being officially launched by AirTel (check it from here). Kyocera's 7135 which was a flagship CDMA smartphone launch by Dhirubhai Ambani ran on Palm OS (check it here). It didn't have many takers like TataIndicom's Windows 2003SE phone HTC Konquer. One can have bitter experience with one particular product or brand, that doesn't necessarily generalize that brand's quality. Some of my friends have similar bad experience with even Nokia and Motorola. So, no moral story please.... -

I differ. If O2, Asus, i-Mate, HP, Acer,BenQ, Pantech, Toshiba, Sharp or Palm are not as successful as Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Micromax, hTc or ZTE in India, they can not be termed as bad companies at all. Success of handsets in India depends on many factors. Alcatel is a successful brand in USA. -

Total redundant exercise! There should be ban on promotional SMSs prefixed by TM / TD/ BV etc sent by operators themselves which override DND registration. -
BSNL Slashes 3G Data Pricing
sougatadc replied to prakritish's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Yes, in case of EVDO also, they have hiked the tariff considerably, started with Rs 250/month and now it is Rs 750/month. -
I don't consider myself to be that important person. And there might be exigencies from any end, so no switching off in any manner, manual or auto, in my case.

Dual SIM but not Dual Standby -
My dear Parin, just think about Mac or ibook. Are they sold in that number as the cheaper alternatives (Windows laptop/ netbook or desktops)are sold? No. It is because for most of us, the cheaper alternatives serve the purpose. That's why the superb quality of apple doesn't count, quality alone cannot carry.

Tatadocomo Orders 3G Dongles
sougatadc replied to ravi_patent's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
BSNL 3G service through Micromax dongles is quite poor and above all is not omni-present. Let us see how Tata fares in GSM field.
