I wonder why on Earth better versions (over gingerbread) of android have been robbed off a simple and basic but indispensable feature of telephony, i.e. call conferencing, which is otherwise easily available on basic no-frill cheap phones. BTW, any suggestions on USC S3 custom ROM which can support call conferencing?

Stock ROM. I haven't gone for any custom ROM yet. After the recent recovery from data mishap owing to the latest OTA update, it is clear that no more official update is safe. So, better to root it off. It's running flawlessly as ever. However, one lacuna of stock ROM on JB (unavailability of conference calling) will probably drive me towards a custom ROM.

And I remained silent about the bundled unlimited sms pack with data (capped @ 200/day by TRAI) because otherwise the combination of data & voice is deadly on this new recharge, and how many sms we do in a day after Whatsapping and Hangouting?

After launching attractive on-net voice packs (bundled with huge off-net minutes) of Rs. 199 and Rs. 249 (offering unlimited on-net and 500 and 1000 off-net minutes), MTS is going to launch attractive data pack bundled with voice pack from tomorrow. It is Rs. 349 for unlimited 1GB (post 1GB of HSD, it is 1X unlimited) along with unlimited local on-net and 1000 local off-net minutes . Undoubtedly it is the best data+voice pack among all service providers.

At last!!!!! Finally android has provided the update which should've been given long back. In the new update of Gmail along with some cosmetic changes it's now possible to pinch zoom mails after opening. In the last update it allowed slide to archive and now pinch zooming. IPhone provided slide to archive/delete and pinch zooming long back (from the days of 4S at least). Google was too lethargic to introduce in its own product what ought to have been introduced at least before iPhone did it.

Tata's 1X packs are dubious. If you want to use EVDO (you have to, 1X on S3 is an unsamrt proposition), you have to have HSIA pack activated, which is not at all cheap ( Rs. 100 for mere 256MB, Rs. 300 for 1GB andd Rs. 500 for 2GB). And post these limits (which may be crossed subtly any time which you'll not notice) the tariff will be like hell. That's why unlimited packs are always better. Even in prepaid CDMA of Tata, if the pack limit is crossed, internet doesn't cease to work and it continues on the expence of the main balance which may go negative to thousands of rupees. This is very dangerous if you use it on your primary number and you have to keep that number whatever negative balance it accrues. If you were not from Maharastra, I would ask you to port out to an MTS smartphone connection and use EVDO on recharging STV of Rs. 246 which provides 1GB HSIA, unlimited 1X afterwards along with unlimited local+national SMS (capped to 200/day by TRAI) for 30 days. This is much better compared to that of Tata.

Please give it to me. I'm now compelled to port out of Tata CDMA and my only option is MTS. I need a number of MTS handsets for my near and dear ones. It will be of genuine help for me. See, I was the first to forgo the projector before Sadikk bhai opted it for an NGO. This time I need this. If there is any lottery, count my name please.

I use MTS and I'm satisfied with its voice + data tariff on smartphone (Galaxy S3). Voice & data tariff is the cheapest among all. I don't know whether CUG is available from them or not. Even if they go according to TRAI's rules, it is difficult to clear unbilled amount as this amount is getting increased as and when I'm using my phone (after clearing the unbilled amount). I generated the porting code while being at the Brand store and paid an average monthly billing amount. They are not sure whether the extra amount I pay as unbilled amount will be refunded along with the security or not (neither CC nor the Store people could give the answer). What to do?

Still facing problems. Tata Exclusive Brand store (Company owned & Company operated) at Asansol, WB could not guide me. The one at my place (Bolpur) has been shut down already to curb expenditure. So, I've to visit nearest store (at Bardhaman, Durgapur or Asansol). I've made up my mind to leave Tata. So, I approached the Asansol brand store where I was told that the basic necessity is the same both for porting out and converting into prepay. I've to clear both outstanding and unbilled amounts for that. As I've already cleared the outstanding bill the next day it was generated, the outstanding is zero. But as I use Tata2Tata free calling pack,and as I make a lot of on-net calls, my unbilled amout soars (which eventually comes down to minimum due to the free calling pack). When I visited the store, my unbilled amount was Rs. 1587 (this will surely increase every day). I asked if I'm required to clear the unbilled amount as well, what will be the fate of it when the final bill will be of much lower amount, and what about the unbilled amount getting higher after I clear it, and after creating the porting code still continue to use the phone and there will even more unbilled amounts. The executives present there could not give any solid answer. I generated the porting code, paid an amount of my regular bill (my outstanding became negative of that amount as per the received sms & mail) and came out. Nobody is there to guide, what a dismal condition of Tata!
