These 'open/unlocked' sets are picked up cheaper from the US & other countries where operators follow an agreement system with Customers (free phone) which is binding for 12/24 months etc. You now know what happens to these agreements. Although not all phones fall in this bracket, they're anyways 'unlocked' somehow & shipped for everyone to benefit ! One can still do it for BB's bought in India.. but they have to pay a full price unless you trick TATA into 20 BB phones EMI scheme & dupe them.

By the style in which they're mentioning names of citites/towns, its really gonna be difficult for any new provider to cover Nationwide Customers. You see.. Delayed SMS? Care for a few more.. 1) STD Calls from Rel do not reach Airtel phones 2) 1 SMS from Rel hits 3 times on 'Airtel Prepaid phones' in particular. The sad part is, that we are also charged thrice.. proven in bills. But i doubt that spectrum etc. is to be blamed here.

The huawei modem looks really world class.. Very beautiful. And whever i see the ZTE HSDC, i get reminded of MG 880 1x modem.. horrendous installation process that one.

I saw the working today.. Youtube was working fine without any breaks. But the funnies part was, the varied results from diff Speed testing sites. Speedtest was funny - 50% difference in 2 mins (500/400 & then 300/120 kbps for Up/Down) Another site said 1.8Mbps download.. I have no experience normally with these sites, so it was very confusing. (BTW, tested near a window in JP Nagar 6th phase, South Blr) They have their own Tariffs, cmon. Unless.. ofcourse..

In reference to the above, off-late we have seen members giving links to other websites, profiles, selling their wares etc. Therefore not exactly abiding by the set rules. (The Signature rules aren't very clear for 'Sellers') For eg. The below post has a Signature i.e. half a page long. I too am eager to know if anything like this is possible. So many ppl are suffering where wired line services like Ait\rtel & BSNL can't reach & they're instead using the failed Wimax Technology for single/multiple computing. This will help them immensely.

^^^^ As there's no Unbilled usage which can be caculated, there's no Credit limit calculation in Data Services before Bill generation. Only once bill is generated, will they bar the line. But in case ppl use CDMA 1x DC also for Voice communication, this could be possible but no point discussing this. I have seen DC Bills with Credit limit 2400 & bill for 4500. Its big money Guys !

^^^^ Pretty hilarious.. P K Daga would have started TATA Dealership long back as RComm Data Cards were problematic & inferior. Therefore, we have TATA photon still selling despite RComm coming with a more superior product.. correct? @ Rahul Bhansali, Give it a thought.. Photon give 400kbps dowload but only gives 30kbps upload i.e. no Voice/Video Con & slow mail/mmedia upload being Rev-O. Only available in 3 cities as of now..

But i doubt if the above plan will be valid for multiple subscribers.. that too multiple locations. Generally dealers do not get benefitted if the deal's outside their Circle. Or at least they should have some connection, i.e. all are working in Accenture etc.

Its surely heart warming to read whenever ppl are successfully able to pull compensation money out of Tele Operators especially RComm. But my only issue is the Time & Money normal consumers spend to get justice from these Consumer Forums. Probably they are initially feeling that they should not take things lying down or have to teach RComm a lesson by dragging them to court. But on the other hand all service providers have lawyers specially stay put, for such cases only & simple instructions are given - "pay whatever deems fit & see that cases are to be disposed quickly". Which means for them, this is nothing but some money being parted for Service related issues. On the other hand, consumers go thru hell & only manage to get respite at the end when justice is pronounced. Here too, indian 'mental agony','damages' are nothing compared to citizens abroad & still end up losing the winning battle. If we look around the Forum, we have many cases where ppl have 'spent' much more than the compensation awarded & finally felt eveything was a waste. The requirement is - the entire process of Consumer redressal should be simpler & cheaper.. (or has it really become?) Due to this, nowadays ppl only like to email, email, email & cry, cry, cry. Who goes to court for all this?

What about sale of Dual Chinese handsets.. should the few brand-less Chinamen also be bothered ?

I know someone who has taken the HSDCard. Had to wait for 4-5 days more after commitment date, as stocks couldn't be billed at RComm's warehouse. Is still waiting since the CAF/Bar code couldn't be recognised by their systems for activation. The new HSDCards are pre-provisioned. No separate GSK activation required.. in built number.

Also, as he is in business & could be on roaming etc. you can suggest him to go for a BSNL/VSNL GSM LT Prepaid card as a second SIM option which has excellent coverage where RComm cant reach. Activate GSM only while on roaming so that youre never out of reach.. something has to work right ?

I strongly feel that you have activated BIS 249 Plan i.e. 50p/kb download. You can simply change this plan to BIS (BB Internet Services) Plan 1099 Unlimited. This way, your hardware also has use & you are carefree while browsing. Alternatively, you may list out the details of 'Charges'/Rentals as appearing in the bill. We can then come to know which subscription charges are these that appear for Rs. 2000-3000 continuously.
