Little off topic but: Has anyone faced a problem where you have to enter akey in iphone4 cdma once every 4-5 days or so ? It stops making or receiving calls suddenly and starts again once i have entered akey. I haven't connected to itunes & done any update etc. Only games/apps are installed from app mkt on the phone itself over wifi.

What an Idea ! Don't know why i never tried this. Will try today. I use only USB pendrive to listen to music and keep music on all the time so I can't do it all the time, but good in emergency. I don't think there can be any problem at all, just keep it on radio/cd/aux mode so that it doesn't try to mount usb filesystem again and again.

I haven't used prepaid earlier, so am little confused - have just bought 1 prepaid reliance 3G sim for my laptop's internal modem. RCOM 3G Speeds are amazing though, at least in Mumbai. I regularly get 3-4MBPS.

You may already know this, but few months back i had booked some rail tickets using 1 of the 4 alternative private sites ( cleartrip, makemytrip, thomascook etc ) which have partnered with irctc. They are great, you can see reservation status for the whole week for all classes and to/fro etc etc just like airline sites, see next week/previous week etc and book every thing in 1 click. I had done multiple options and cancelled later and the refund experience was also good. Much much better than irctc which would make you wait 2 minutes for every single database query.

I am planning on buying CDMA iphone for my daughter to play around. Its registered with Reliance and i understand 1x data etc won't be possible but it can be used on wifi and calls/sms etc. Are there any other big issues I should be aware of ? Do I have to be more careful in upgrading or jailbreaking CDMA iphone than the GSM ones ?

Would this really be covered in Cyber Crime Cell's jurisdiction ? If yes, can some one tell me if i can complain to CCC for online ticketing fraud which seems to have been started by Kingfisher airlines nowadays. They are booking people on flights which they know are cancelled and accepting payments and later they give you only option of going on some cheaper or indirect route or later date when tickets are much cheaper. If flights were genuinely cancelled and they told you in a day or two about it then it might be acceptable, but when they know the flight is not operating and still accept money it borders on fraud. And I have met over 20 passengers with this issue so I have complained to Ministry of Civil Aviation, but maybe cyber crime cell in Mumbai would be a better agency. Have been a Jet Platinum member since 5 years an started shifting to KF some time back (mostly because of their better cheesecakes) and am really regretting the last 2 experiences with this issue now.

Downloaded 32 bit version (2GB) yesterday but couldn't install on VMWare & Virtual BOX as it seems to needs hardware virtualization switched on in bios (& supported in CPU) Will try it on desktop tomorrow. Laptop already has 4 partitions with 3 OS's so can't meddle with it any more specially with such early release things.

Now, i have read on that post that Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD is available for 9,994/0 at Chroma. So, should I buy that or S2950. Former seems to be better model with HD etc but it has lower megapixel rating than S2950. Pl Advise.

Offline GPS maps in Palm Pre is working perfectly through the following process:- No more missing calls if using GPS w/ Google Maps ! Download MapTool (available free in the app catalog) or download ipk from precentral or attached here: de.metaviewsoft.maptool_1.0.1_all.zip Download Mobile Atlas Creator from this site: mobile atlas creator, or attached here: Mobile Atlas Creator 1.7.zip Install Maptool (MT) IPK on Pre. Then Unzip the Mobile Atlas Creator (MAC) on your PC in any folder and run the exe (or jar if in linux) Move around to the city you want the maps for (use cursor keys to move around; click on the map once if cursor keys are doing zoom in/out instead of panning) Mark a rectangular area for the whole city after zooming to appropriate level (11 works for me). Click on left panel to 'select entered coords' for the area marked. Select 'Google Maps' as the source Select appropriate zoom levels which you want to use (16 works best for me, so i usually select 15,16,17 - initially just select 16 to try out as higher numbers have zillions of map tile files. After selecting these levels it'll show you the no of tiles to download. Give some name if you want in 'Atlas Content' section and click 'add selection' Select 'OSMTracker Tile Storage' as the output format Give a output folder by clicking on 'settings' and going to the 2nd last tab. Then you can give proxy etc if required. Pl note that the default no of threads is set to 4 and some ISPs restrict the no of requests/sec so you may need to reduce it if you get failures or a message in your browser (while MAC is downloading tiles) that no of requests per second exceeded. Now click Create Atlas and it'll download the map tiles. If MAC gives a dialog box that downloading of some tiles failed you can click retry a few times (you've click pause/resume after retry as it remains in paused mode after clicking retry) or click ignore/continue or just tick the 'ignore all errors box' Once done, open the output folder & browse inside 2-3 levels till you find the folder Google Maps. Copy this folder to the Pre USB Drive / (root - top level) as .MapTool This folder will have subfolders like 15, 16,17 etc. Download other cities you want and copy them also over the same folders. Run the MT on your PRE and go into preferences and select 'offline' as the renderer. You will now be able to see you GPS location on the Map w/o turning on the data (provided you are in the same city for which you downloaded the maps !).GPS will take a minute to get first fix. MT will also show the GPS error (for eg if you are inside a building with bad GPS signal reception) and elevation etc. Here's a screenshot of maptool on pre and mobile atlas creator on windows: I've got Mumbai & Delhi (NCR) downloaded and can upload the zip files somewhere if someone has problems and needs them.

I need some advice about buying a Digital Camera - budget between 5-10k with at least 720p video and hdmi out for seeing on tv. Just for normal use by family members Some time back there was a discussion about Fujifilm FinePix S2950 (9,299 on lsb) but i can't find out if it has hdmi out. Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD mentions hdmi out. though its for 11,499 on lsb and is only 12MP compared to 14MP for S2950. Or should i just buy sony cybershot or nikon coolpix type of models? or any other model ?

Also, when i pair any mobile bluetooth with my laptop and use sound recorder then i can record both ends of the call while talking/listening on the laptop or through a wired headset connected to the laptop; so the points in the linked discussion about there being any restriction on BT recording aren't valid.
