If I get the number on my PRE transferred to a new handset, can i ask webworld to put my 2nd number on the MEID RUIM which was given by seller with my PRE (so that pre starts working with my 2nd number) ?

^^ If in Windows 7 then just Right Click on the bluetooth icon in notification area of task bar (right hand bottom - you may have to click the arrow type of thing to show all icons) and select send files OR receive files OR add device (to pair your handset) etc. If you don't have the BT icon then go into control panel and click on it or check if the WiFi/BT switch is on in the laptop. Also check your start menu, depending on the BT stack & app installed sometimes the icon is not there in control panel but in start menu. Remember that some phones will only do a 4 digit pin for pairing in which case its better to start pairing from the phone handset (as win7 will generate a big 8 digit alphanumeric pin if you start pairing from laptop) If you are on XP also the same process should work but its been nearly 2 years since i used XP so i am not very sure.

I am unable to get my treo 755p in BootLoader mode ? When I dial ##UPST# it just switches on the radio. Mtty connects to the usb port (com3 - same as being used by hotsync) but doesn't respond to cmdar bl usb command. Am trying to put new no. on my old treo. Muffy edited my nvbackup file with new E*N. Though i couldn't get into bootloader mode, I tried doing nvbackup from cdmaupdater with new file after which phone now latches on to reliance network. So do i really need to do the bootloader & mtty stuff ? Also if i dial ##000000# then i can still see the old E*N ? Do I need to edit the MIN and MSID nos shown ? If yes, what do i put there ?

^^ As per current regulations, RIL can just pay Rs 1300 Cr and offer VOIP legally with termination/origin from normal phones allowed. Even after factoring in 1300 Cr, RIL still has got the 4G bandwidth much cheaper than 3G guys.

I have been looking for Win XP TabletPC CD since my tabletpc (hp tc4400) didn't come with a cd/dvd (only a recovery partition which i deleted long time back). I have the legal key & certificate etc but neither the dealer nor MS support were able to send me a install CD. Although, I am using win7 which has tpc capabilities inbuilt, i need to use XP in my office domain for certain things like SAP etc. so i need Win XP Tablet PC edition Can you upload it or maybe i can transfer the costs of courier and CD etc. Thanks.

This is completely mindless ! Blackberries are FIPS compliant and will generate a private certificate on the handsets and all communication will be encrypted with the receiving parties public certificate and hence can only be decrypted by their own pvt certificate. Blackberry servers will only have everyone's public certificates which they can provide to the government so it can't help the government decrypt anything. If i encrypt it with your public certificate then only you can decrypt it using your private certificate. Similarly for skype or gmail etc if you use PKI like GPG or PGP etc. then google or skype can't do anything to help govt decrypt it. Besides, how many terrorists will use BES/BIS ? They will rather use untraceable stolen sim cards or satphones. And some arcane email provider instead of GMAIL - they're not looking for loads of features ! and anyway they'll send mails encrypted by GPG or any other encryption rather than depend on email provider. In fact they don't only send the mails - just save it in draft folder and other guy logs in to same ID and reads it. So the content remains in some other country and doesn't get transmitted across countries at all. This is just a waste of time & money - like banning open WIFI because terrorists sent a mail claiming credit for bombings through someone's WIFI in Mumbai. Its not stopping the bombing - only the claiming credit. Which will be done by calling a newspaper or sending a postcard if everything else was banned. Bombs & Guns are already banned but terrorists are still getting those. Might as well ban cars since terrorists use it. or water since terrorists survive by drinking it ! Such laws do not stop unlawful people. Only create problems for the innocent population. Govt doesn't apply its mind to solving any problem - just want to be seen as doing something. Preferably, something which creates a problem to someone's profit and would require some good old corruption to solve.

I am unable to get the UTS... login work on my Pre. My mobile no as login/pass works fine. I have used the UTS.. login on my Treo for a long time so I am sure i am putting the login/pass correctly, but I never get the 1X icon on Pre. Does UTS.. work for anyone else on Pre/Pixie ? Also, am i correct that using the UTS.. thing we get RWorld (billed on data use) while using mobile no we get RConnect (billed on minutes connected), so rworld would be cheaper as on 1X the data transfer is not as much as the time we remain connected. Isn't there any app to switch between the two (rworld/rconnect) w/o using qpst (like we had in treo) ? It seems possible when I looked at the ppp config files as its using environment variables for login/pass, so one just needs to do: export variablename=value in a shell and it should work. I guess we could put the export commands for two sets of login/pass variables in two shell scripts (say rworld.sh & rcon.sh) and run a terminal and call one of the scripts to do the switch every time and then use the data toggle app to start the connection

IPKs are just s/w packages for apps & games etc, they won't brick your pixie or pre in any way. Read through the 3D games & apps thread started by Muffy for details and to download the IPKs. Ask me if you need anything reuploaded (if links are dead) You can download webosquickinstall (WOSQI) to install IPKs from your PC to the Pre. It needs a webosdoctor image to be there in its folder, so ensure that you put only treo8 rom image there (though it will never really need to reset the phone, it just keeps that as a precaution) Also you'll need to install palm usb drivers before WOSQI - details are in the thread called 'getting 1x data on pre' by muffy (who else ?) Install PreWare to install homebrew apps and other IPKs also directly from the Pre (though downloads would be slow on 1X) I would also suggest you to read through webos-internals.org just to understand the whole system and avoid wasting time later.

As mentioned by others, for 8K pm for 2BHK you'll mostly have to compromise on size location and building/society quality. Or increase you budget a little. However, for far off places like kharghar & panvel i guess you should get something OK. Since you office is in Belapur, kharghar or maybe ghansoli shouldn't be a problem - i think.

Why don't you checkout 99acres and magicbricks I think 2BHK for 8K pm should be possible in a little far away areas like Kharghar Panwel etc. or you could try Kopar Khairane & Ghansoli, I don't have much idea about Navi Mumbai. Just checked on my Pre and yes loop mounting does seem to disable the USB drive mode as pre needs to unmount some filesystems before allowing usb drive. Am trying to put in a command to unmount it in the script that pre runs before it goes into usb drive mode but let me doublecheck first. Use the normal folder method till then. TO REMOVE the .MapTool FOLDER: Before you can remove the folder you need to unmount it: umount /media/internal/.MapTool If it doesn't unmount then do: umount -f /media/internal.Maptool If it still doesn't unmount then reboot the PRE and since the img file is deleted it won't mount anything on .MapTool (i did this and there's no problem in booting etc and folder is free to delete) TO REVERT BACK TO ORIG FSTAB: use cat & grep & > to create a new file without the .MapTool line, as given below: first check fstab contents: cat /etc/fstab then use inverse grep to remove .MapTool line and check the output: cat /etc/fstab | grep -v .MapTool If its ok then: cat /etc/fstab |grep -v .MapTool >/etc/fstab Keep a backup of fstab just in case you misstype something above. OR Copy the /etc/fstab file to your PC: cp /etc/fstab /media/internal then in usb drive mode copy to PC then edit it in Write or Wordpad (notepad will not show newlines) Copy it back to usb drive & then copy to etc: cp /media/internal/fstab /etc/ Its best to first get the MapTool running before trying out advanced things. Tell me if the maps i uploaded are working for you & i'll upload a higher zoom level.

@Amarjot: How do you log in to palm profile ? I tried going into app catalog>preferences>add account and then gave my profile passwd. Is that the correct way ? or i've to log in from somewhere else ? Also, can i add credit card to buy apps ? (not that there's anything worth buying which isn't here on rimweb. just askin..) I am asking because it gives only us mexico canada options for location so i don't think we can add indian address credit cards.

Congrats Sadik. Try Lavasa if you want someplace quick and close by - its quite good in the rainy season. Otherwise i would vote for Manali. Or if you want to be more adventurous goto Bhutan (Thimpu & Paro)

^^ Yes, even i have faced problems with app catalog - either 'this action could not be completed' or 'this app can not be installed on this version' (or something similar). However, in my case this problem is there since i bought the phone when it was on 1.3.5. Also, sometimes or some apps install without a problem through app catalog - very strange. I usually use Preware to install apps or use WOSQI. However, for some apps (i think from palm catalog feed) preware opens up appcatalog when i click install and I get the same error. For example i am trying to update maptool and it opens up app catalog and fails. Maybe Muffy or some other guru can throw more light on this ? Whether it happens to everyone using treo8 roms or does it happen because of data etc. ? Till then, if you need IPKs for any app to install through WOSQI, ask me - I have got a GB of IPKs for all types of apps etc. downloaded from this forum or from WOSQI etc.

^^ Where can I get a good screen guard for palm pre in Mumbai ? I tried many shops but they didn't have the size and finally one guy sold me a corby size screenguard which isn't so good.

Do Incredible and EVO also have hardened glass like iPhone4 or do they have plasticky screen like Pre ?
