  1. Wow, Thanks a lot Nitin ! Was able to purchase after entering yahoo email ID. Didn't work for me with gmail/outlook.com/live.com. Had to recover password for the really old yahoo ID ! HDFC CC and US address/zip
  2. News Snippets

Finally I can start my weight loss plan - thanks for the Prescription Doc !
  3. If you don't want the hassle of importing from China, you could get in touch with the owner of VeeDee.in (Devesh Tanna, he's located in Malad or kandivali west I think) and is importing various tablets from China, he should be to give you a good price on what ever model you select for import from china. Most of his tablets are allwinner a10 based and perform very nicely, so you essentially just need to look at the cost. He also sources a few high end ones (by high end I mean chinese high end like Onda, Ainol etc w/ IPS screens) in case you are interested. Please take usual commercial precautions as I DO NOT know the guy, I just found him to be good during a few times I met him to source some tablets for my friend and he replaced a couple of VD D10 tablets (ployer momo 9) which we bought from him to test when they conked off. Ployer Momo 9 was a good cheap tablet around 4-6 months back and specially for Video Playback (excellent GPU and HDMI out). Maybe there are better/cheaper ones now.
  4. Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

    Try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=slide.cameraZoom
  5. Password Manager for PC/Laptop

I guess he means the "Reset my password" option on various websites which sends an email to you for the link to reset your password
  6. Why don't you use a Android Tablet with HDMI out ? I am using one similarly and the advantage is that you can edit easily on the tablet without mouse/kbd requirement etc. Lot of tablets have HDMI out. In mumbai you can get them from veedee.in or you can buy many Asus and other tablets with HDMI out.
  7. Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestions

Also, having the address of a fraudulent seller still serves only so much purpose practically - it will still take months of visits and threats to get him to cough up the amount. On the other hand, genuine guys will anyway refund even if a few members put in their negative comments on the topic. So this may only increase the paperwork here and not really get any one's money back. I can mention a few older cases where despite knowing the address of the seller, buyers had been running around for months. Apart from keeping a deposit, I can only reiterate pushing new sellers/buyers both to the paisapay route for their first 2-3 transactions. Then they can sell here directly. Otherwise, a lot of effort of moderators will go towards this system rather than in better activities in the forum and you will then have an implied responsibility & buyers will pester you for address proofs and to follow up etc.
  8. Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestions

Isn't this getting TOO Complicated ? Maybe we should just ask newbie sellers to transfer a deposit to a RIMWEB account which will be returned back once buyer feedback is OK. There is no revenue or tax implication to the transaction for RIMWEB. Later if required some small fee could also be deducted. The deposit condition could be waived once the seller has 2-3 good transactions or feedbacks or once he is few years old member on rimweb Or if any reputed/old member vouches/guarantees for him etc. All the other things like ID etc will actually be of NO USE to us if the seller is fradulent (he will just photoshop any ID or change address etc). BUT it will keep adding to hassles for normal members - just like most govt regulations! Just my 2 cents....
  9. Not a bad idea but somehow I am unable to find any photo frames with video Input. Most of them have some AV Output. I need either HDMI or S-Video. Do photo frames come with any type of video input ?
  10. Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestions

any way whats the music system like? Nothing audiophile grade Doc, just bookshelf systems or micro hifi type of things for bedroom. I have posted details here asking for advice , rather than hijack this thread again (yesterday was different as i had too many beers)
  11. Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestions

BTW, I must clarify that I am NOT afraid of wifey at all ! But, just to be safe I have taken 2 units to Office today - Don't want to take chances when she's coming back after almost two weeks - because she'll probably never get in the mood if she sees 3 music systems lying around the house. Anyway, I have just been joking - there's no hurry. @ digitalnirvana / kalpeshaparmar : will PM you details. Though I feel bad making Rajan's serious buy-sell-guideline topic into my own sell topic. & cracking jokes in every other post. Now, let me make up by a serious suggestion for buy-sell intermediary / escrow system for payments: I volunteer for the following - (without any fees or charges, unlike PaisePay ) All buyers should send their payments to me along with the NEFT/IFSC details of seller to whom payment has to be forwarded later. Then, All sellers should send their Mobile Phones or other Stuff to me with address details of buyer to whom it has to be forwarded later. I will thoroughly check the phones/items and verify the payment/count the cash - This can take up to a week as I am usually very busy Once I find both parties have carried out their obligations, I will run away with all the mobiles & cash. This should solve everyone's problems. Arun can sit back and relax no need for any more buy-sell guidelines again once this RimWeb PaisePhenk service is operational.
  12. Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestions

Looks like it is disabled for ALL. And I bought the 3 home theater models one by one telling myself that "I'll put the other ones on Rimweb - no problem they'll sell off in a few days and wife will never know" Chalo, I'll start couriering the stuff to Arun/Kamalbhai from Monday. In fact, I've got a great idea - Maybe I should do it by VPP.
  13. Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestions

^ Rajan, when i go to Sell Bazaar Forum it says "You cannot start a new topic". Is that a problem only with me or am I correct in assuming posts are disabled there ?
  14. Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestions

Kamal Bhai, please decide rules and re-open selling section quickly as I have to urgently sell one home theater BEFORE my wife comes back from Lucknow next week ! Have ended up buying 3 different models for use in one single bedroom - since none of them were perfect in terms of some finicky requirements i had (must fit bedroom shelf, have at least 100 watt rms & browse USB folders without TV display, and wireless subwoofer so that wires can be minimized - for the all important cleaning rituals of wife) Either re-open the thread before she's back OR i'll shift to your or Arun's house with the 3 music systems for a permanent party. And also have to sell Nexus 7 as daughter is reading ebooks 2-3 hours every day and it may affect her eyes etc. will replace with kindle/nook
  15. Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestions

As usual Rajan's ideas are pretty sensible & sufficient for addressing this issue:- a.) Increase minimum post requirement to 25 / 100 posts for single / multiple open sell threads (or maybe even higher; newbie sales isn't a priority here) b.) Have 2 months / 12 months membership requirement for single / multiple open sell threads c.) Have 1 additional category of sellers with more than 1-2 years membership - as suggested by Shreesh. Additionally, we could have a big red disclaimer on sell posts of members less than 1-2 years that Rimweb recommends that "newbie buyers" should only buy from the other 2 categories OR they should ask seller to put item on ebay and buy through paisapay. Since its only 1 incident I don't think we should do much beyond this. That post with so many phones was anyway not looking serious at all. And Rajan should definitely be a moderator to help ease the load on others. (I always assumed he is - devotes an exceptionally large amount of time here helping everyone).
  16. Getting really good speeds on Reliance 3G since few days. Maybe because of less customers ? Though I don't get more than 2 MBPS with the same sim on tablet/phone, but just installed huawei em770w inside my thinkpad x220 tablet (needs a bios patch as lenovo only allows whitelisted network devices) and i am getting 5-6 MBPS everyday. Even when this huawei minipci card was in a netbook it was not giving more than 2 MBPS. Either speeds have improved or there's some link with CPU speeds (as x220 has i5 vpro with 8gb ram). BTW, huawei data card drivers conflict with Connectify - specially on 64bit OS - so if you are using huawei & connectify then uninstall either one. Took me 2 days to find this out. Kept getting BSD in windows 8 while the device worked perfectly in linux & win7pro32bit. Then found some topics on this on sevenforums.
  17. Password Manager for PC/Laptop

^ Does lastpass work for secure sites like banks etc ? (because google/chrome sync doesn't remember those passwords)
  18. Password Manager for PC/Laptop

I now just use chrome with sync on all my laptops/PCs/phones and it works just fine. Have tried all types of software earlier for passwords but none were really good. Then I started using firefox with sync to an ftp account but once chrome came up with sync i found it to be the best. Just login with gmail account and it syncs passwords and bookmarks etc. Only problem is secure accounts like bank etc which won't be saved for which i use blackberry vault and keep updating them whenever i change them. Its a little PITA but better than trusting 3rd party apps with bank or visa/mc passwords
  19. @Rajan: Thanks a lot. Will go in for shopclues i think. Never got that site in google search somehow. @Fevin: The sony laptop has a 3rd gen core i3 while the lenovo has 2nd gen i3. So sony would be a little faster - around 10%-15% max as per anandtech. But i don't think you should worry much about that at all. Its a very small difference. CPUs are no longer the limiting factor in performance. Whatever be your CPU you will be limited by the disk speed (sometimes even ram speed). You won't find much difference except when doing specialized cpu intensive tasks from memory - like in benchmarks. Other things are much more important in real life use. Like displays or better disks (for eg higher RPM or SSD)
  20. ^ ^ Lenovo india site shows the price as Rs. 29,990/- for same model. See here
  21. I wanted to order this laptop from flipkart for my parents in lucknow, but flipkart says it doesn't deliver there. Any ideas for alternatives with lucknow delivery ? Just need something like pentium dual core gen 2 laptop with 14-15" screen WITH win7 or xp pre-installed (any version - home basic or so. as they won't be able to install OS) below 25K Have searched on tradus homeshop18 cromaretail etc but most of the cheap latpops are with DOS. There's a Lenovo on cromaretail but they also don't ship to lucknow. Tradus ships to Lucknow and has this samsung (though its AMD but it'll do i guess) but it has Win 8 - i think without the start button they'll get confused (and they can't install any start button alternatives i am sure) Maybe it's best if i order to Mumbai and then courier it to Lucknow ? Is is easy to courier laptops or will the courier guys have issues like with Mobiles ?
  22. Are these codes supposed to work with the sony pendrives ? 'cause they aren't for me. And sandisk is out of stock now.
  23. I have a nexus which seems to have developed akey issue - calls are disconnecting in 1 sec. (did a factory reset few days back, but data is still working) Anyone remembers how to enter akey ? I tried the *#*#debug#*#* but can't find any option to enter akey.
