  1. Movies That You Loved (Or Hated) - Part II

^ Seems like it was completed by some one else by putting in a lot of fillers in the flashbacks
  2. That's a good way of cooking. Light stir fry seals the veggies and micro or oven then brings them up to your level of taste without losing nutrients. Off course, I would prefer oven since microwaves tend to kill some nutrients that we are just finding out. But, still micro is very convenient these days.
  3. Windows 8 upgrade for less

I got for 699 though my laptop was a few months older than required for eligibility; But when i try entering similar info for my pc i get 1999. I think its checking the current win7 serial (or maybe just the INSTALL DATE OF WIN7 as i have a recent re-install on laptop but not pc). Try re-installing win7 & then trying again. will try on my pc tomorrow & update the result here.
  4. Buying a new car? Discuss here!

I have some problem in my wrists (RSI/CTS) so am looking for automatic. Which dealer did you buy from ? Is he good ? I don't have any idea of Hyundai dealers. Only maruti/honda.
  5. Buying a new car? Discuss here!

Chirag, Did you try the diesel auto version ? I need an automatic and a diesel and there's only verna in this range.
  6. I am myself fed up of carrying so many things. I am thinking maybe a phablet like Samsung Galaxy Note II will be sufficient for everything ? It might be a little embarrassing to take out such a big thing for calls - but with a BT headset maybe that issue could be solved.
  7. Ecommerce Websites - Good, Bad and Ugly!

How is shopclues.com ? Can i order 10-12K item from this site (I don't want to use cash on delivery as its a gift)
  8. You can also transfer any media by running/opening the media file and tapping the two NFC phones together. You'll be asked to confirm and then it'll start runinng on the other phone. Reduces the hassle of checking for BT devices and pairing & doing send via BT etc OR running a WiFi file share app and entering IP on the other phone If nothing happens, check that NFC Beam is switched ON in settings>Data.
  9. Hackintosh!

Nowdays I use VHDs for win7/win8 & Linux instead of physical partitions. These are just large files mounted as a disk and win7/win8/linux support booting from them. There's no performance handicap and its easier to backup/restore the whole OS by copying that file (files are big though, but usb3 is fairly quick to copy them) Androidx86 is just a folder on any partition.
  10. Hackintosh!

I have Mountain Lion running perfectly fine on my Lenovo x220 laptop (tabletpc) - have used these twomain links for getting it on x220. But am unable to understand how to get it running on my AMD desktop (not necessarily ML, even lion or earlier is ok, just need to play around with garage band sometimes). Can someone who has got it running on AMD tell me the short & sweet procedure ? Here's ML on X220: Have also got androidx86 on it. Apart from the usual 1-2 linuces & 2-3 win8/win7.
  11. ^ Yes, that's the one & only reason. Once Apple went rabid with their patent case on trivial issues, it was very clear that they wouldn't be doing this if they had a great new iphone5, since then they would actually be happy that others are investing billions in making phones inspired by their current model and thus would take more time & bleed more before catching up to iphone5 in maybe 2-3 years. Almost all companies are happy to see their competitors invest in imitating their previous models if they have ground breaking new products to launch. Just like Toyota always enters a market by introducing models in sub-segments where its large competitors are not present (even if that segment not the most profitable) & they even invest more on advertising/branding/service in these sub-segments to make them fairly successful, then when competitors start launching products in that sub-segment after having invested a few thousand crores and 2-3 years then Toyota enters the bulk or more attractive segment so that competitors are a little tied up recovering their investment before they can afford a big ticket investment to match toyota in the bulk segment. Its only once the creativity has dried off and a company can't think of any disruptive products/features that it starts focusing on hindering competitors by various ways - like offering exclusive terms to distribution chains, mergers/takeovers, price undercutting to let a few others go bankrupt, massive advertising spends etc. Off course, now-a-days easiest way to stifle competition is using patents/copyrights since the US now has a completely stupid IP system with the Govt having been bought by the Corporate and also because of the fear that IP is the only thing that US still produces. Even Woazniak (apple co-founder) says that Apple's Claims are too trivial to be patented and it will not prevail in Appeal ! slashdot: "'I hate it,' Wozniak told Bloomberg in Shanghai today, referring to the patent battle. He thinks the ruling will be overruled. Samsung will of course appeal, and this case will go back and forth for months still, but Wozniak just wishes everyone could get along. 'I don’t think the decision of California will hold. And I don’t agree with it — very small things I don’t really call that innovative. I wish everybody would just agree to exchange all the patents and everybody can build the best forms they want to use everybody’s technologies,' he said." And here's something about Apple's deteriorating quality levels - from apple users Forbes: If you use Apple products, you know that in the past 6 months the quality has slipped quite a bit. I’m not talking about hot iPads or grips of death. I am talking about stability of the products. For example, if you use AirPlay to play music to your Apple TV, the new updates have it crashing quite a bit. It never happened before these new updates of a few months ago. I find myself closing apps and rebooting my iPhone or iPad to get things like Hulu or TuneIn to work properly. TuneIn worked just fine until these new updates. Indeed, iOS 5.1 seems to have introduced new bugs.
  12. Apple iPhone 5 & iOS6 discussion

And finally I can get all my App Icons on one screen !
  13. Apple iPhone 5 & iOS6 discussion

Really Disappointing ! I was expecting at least finger print reader on the home button and NFC for passport (based on the rumour blogs) This is just a silly revision, should have called it 4GS or something than 5. Not even worth comparing with Nexus leave apart S3 which seems like an entirely different level. Though secretly I am still hoping to buy the shiny new iphone5 ! But purely for the show-off value and smug happiness of taking it out in front of android fanboys and acting as if I really don't recognize their S3 or Nexus and commenting that 'Micromax makes good phones nowdays' while looking with disdain on their phone as they try to impress with their live wallpapers or whatnot. Or mentioning that it would anyway never fit in my skinny jeans pockets but is good for their baggy pants ! Plus I find I waste much less time on iphones compared to androids where i tend to keep fine tuning the apps & settings & roms & updates & compulsive backups rather than using the phone productively. Offcourse, blackberry is the least time wasting phone since it runs nothing worthwhile except mail/sms/calls.
  14. Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

@phonegeek: No, I didn't mean any issue with Nexus. That is working perfectly fine. I was talking about Android apps in general being updated TOO frequently without any major revision in features etc - just some minor bug fixes and then each time entire apps being downloaded again. Though it happens over WiFi automatically it still feels a little irritating taking up CPU cycles in the background while you are doing something on the phone. Plus many of these updates are just updates to the advertisement images etc i suspect so that even if we have adblock apps or host file adblocking the local images are be displayed etc. With delta updates it should be much better with only significant improvements/changes requiring full downloads.
  15. Lets Have Some Fun

Prathod, that was really interesting. Now since this ancient thread has now been reactivated, let me indulge in my hobby of unravelling such mind games... 1. We are asked to think of any number between 1-10 and multiply it by 9. So we know the result will be a multiple of 9, i.e. 9,18,27......90 2. Then we are asked to add up the 2 digits of our above result. Now sum of the 2 digits of any multiple of 9 will always be 9 (when multiple is not beyond 90, as in above case) So we know the result will always be the number 9. 3. We are then asked to subtract 5. So the answer to this step will ALWAYS be 4. Since everyone arrives at the number 9 and 9-5=4. 4. Now we are asked to name a country starting with "D" Denmark is the only well known country with D, the other 3 are very arcane & unknown ones like Djibouti, Dominica & Dominican Republic. So we know that the ending alphabet will be "K". 5. Now, though there are some Animals starting with K, only Kangaroo is a possibility. Others are either arcane, or 2 word names, or doubtful ones being birds/fishes/reptiles (like Kiwi or Komodo Dragon). So answer will always be Kangaroo - specially in a hurry. 6. Kangaroo ends with "O" and the only fruit starting with "O" is Orange. (Olives would usually not be considered as a fruit) So, end result is always: Orange. Q.E.D.
  16. Lets Have Some Fun

Wow, that was really funny. That's how apple fanboys usually justify every iphone feature (or lack thereof) !
  17. Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

Great ! Delta updates are a wonderful thing. High time this was done, I was completely fed up of my nexus wanting to update almost every day or two. More time was spent updating than using the stupid phone.
  18. Gaurav, will call & come over some day to dadar and give you my ip4 for doing this. Great Offer.
  19. Even I am thinking of going for Gaurav's help rather than buying this. Really sorry to spoil the group buy - but if there's only 1 deficit then I'll buy a credit and keep it for some later day.
  20. Check this for People in mumbai http://www.rimweb.in...ocal-mumbaites/ Wow, Gaurav's above offer for Internet/SMS on iOS 5 for INR 2800/- seems really great. Specially since there won't be any hassle of fiddling around wasting time or risk of getting some thing wrong. Only for Mumbai people though.
  21. Thanks. Bought 1. Got the Nexus 7 from homeshop18 yesterday. It took some time though - around 20 days, and i was afraid homeshop18 is going to turn out like timtara. But it was delivered by fedex, nicely packed and absolutely perfect quality. Had read on xda about some screen bezel issues but nothing like that.
  22. Google Nexus 7 Tablet

Only irritation I have with all these 3G devices is the need to keep getting more and more connections. Though prepaid ones are ok but still you have to recharge when you suddenly need to use. Telcos should have a system of giving out 9-10 SIM/RUIM etc against one number. At least for data, if not voice. Just got Nexus 7 delivered yesterday from HomeShop18 (from rajan's irresistable topic here). Very good build quality, great screen & really fast. When I copy music, it says 'this may not play on your device' (although it does play). Some sort of DRM is going to come up in future versions of Android ?
  23. If you want to reset the MEID/ESN to factory values then there's a linux cmd in android shell to do that unconditionally. Only if you haven't changed either of these values. Will search and post. Don't know if you are able to get an ADB shell on your nexus though ? If you can get it to bootloader mode then you can push the kernel from pc and it boots (i think its the same as fastboot) If even fastboot is not working then you can push a linux kernel for nexus to boot it to linux and then chroot to the android file system. But this requires you to first copy a big file to the nexus. Can that be done ? ie. can you mount the storage in bootloader /recovery mode ? BTW, ^ Is that Taylor Swift ? very distracting ..... Am scrolling up and down this post to keep seeing the pics you post. How do you find them ?
  24. Fakes are usually just 1-2 GB. Just check if by any chance the partition has been created smaller (by mistake or because of another partition for encryption or something else). On linux gparted/fdisk, on windows: right click 'my computer' > Manage > Disk Management. Then see if partition is occupying full space or less than the disk size. To check if its fake or not, Copy some large sized file(s). and see if you can Copy them BACK. (Fakes will show that files are copied successfully to card, but will NOT be able to copy it back) See if 4-5 GB first and try with 20-30GB.
