Pls PM me the link of Virgin and Tata firmware.
-
Best way is yo use google search for Rimweb link, than to use regular search. That way, you can use the expressions and boolean conditions like +, -, "" etc.
-
We aren't turning into a financial forum, no one is giving calls like Buy XXX at Rs.YYY, target ZZZ. We are just helping other RIMwebian in his query.

Yep, this is a good time to open a demat, as you can bargain the brokerage rates. I use Angel broking, so far so good, with great brokerage rates.

Nokia 2228 Low-end Cdma Phone With Led Indicator Light
ani_meher replied to Mufaddal's topic in Nokia
What's the big handle doing on the left hand side? Nokia should give a bottle opener attached next time on Maybe a mobile with swiss knife! -
No. You can flash only using Unicom firmware. Even if you want to go back to Virgin for using the internet, you have to get the phone to SC and get it reflashed. Only Unicom fireware is available on internet.
-
For unlocking procedure, use google. It's widely spread. You can also use the link i posted a few posts ago. No idea about tweaking Unicom fireware for browsing. Unicom fireware doesn't support mp3 ringers. Only preloaded ones.
-
No, I did not try r-world/web browser, as i don't use them, so no idea about them. A suggestion to future buyers, buy the phone with virgin connection, that way u'll get the 300rs connection free. Then, as you have to buy a datacable for mp3 transfer, use that datacable n unlock it by urself.

I inquired Tata about the cost of this handset 'Samsung explorer' as they name it. It is a whooping 4500! I mean, why is there so much cost difference between vSleek and Explorer, which are basically Samsung S259? 50% extra cost just for silver color handset with tata lock is not worth, I think. The cable costs 150 bucks or even less, so even if Tata bundles the cable along (which I doubt), still the cost won't escalate so high. Damn CDMA providers looting customers.
-
Cable was bought at some local shop, just show them the phone and they will give the cable. I got it for Rs.150. After flashing with Unicom, I am not able to use samsung studio on that phone. However, it connects perfectly in pen-drive mode, so u can transfer pictures/mp3s etc, but no additional ringtone, and no card operation like sync etc. BTW did you pay anything above 3k for unlocking? Did you get the virgin lifetime incoming free offer?

Sharing music in a dedicated forum will be treading on the lines of piracy. There are many other forums, or maybe you can upload them somewhere and share the link with friends here through PM, but sharing the links openly will be on lines of piracy.

Yep, even I got my brother's cell back when I lost it on a bus. Some person living just in next galli has picked it up, and he called me and asked me to take it. I haven't found any such valuable thing, but whenever I get a chance, I'll surely do the same.

Aigo Launches Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes Usb Drive In India !
ani_meher replied to Honest's topic in General Technical Discussion
So, basically you get something cheaply priced, put a nice plastic shell, give it mercedes name and sell it 8 times higher? a 250Rs 2gb pendrive goes up to 2000Rs just because it comes in fancy shell? Man, I will never understand 'niche market'. -
Tata-virgin Mobile Lowers Std, Local Rates
ani_meher replied to ravi_patent's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Virgin provided 1 re for first 2 minutes and then 50p for later calls. They have increased it to 3 mins. ( I know it's not much, but still pointing the facts out). -
Quick update. The phone works perfectly. The browser now redirects to anycall browser, which can't connect (earlier virgin browser wasn't connecting as well). Phone gets some additional features, like a shortcut page to right click, some new sounds etc. Panchang is gone, which was expected as it was in Hindi. I am not able to use samsung pc studio after reflashing. The card can be accessed when connected to PC, but pc studio is not detecting the phone. Also, can someone tell is there any way to disable the click sound? I want only the ringer sound, not any other button click sound. EDIT: Got how to disable the click sound. One has to click the sound control button on the side all the way down. I thought it controls ringtone noise like nokia, seems like i was wrong. Now I can't figure how to go to SSR mode.

Guys guess what! Operation successful It's very easy, anyone can do it. Phone took about 10 minutes, did everything by itself! Only thing is, first remember the position how to change the language back to english, because that software is chinease.

Hey guys (specially Sadik ) I have taken the plunge and bought vSleek! Cost me 2999 with lifetime incoming. I was going to hack it, but couldn't find a damn cable. The cable I bought was not detecting the phone on PC. I will get the cable today and will use the above method to unlock. Initial observations: Very good looking phone at 3000. FM quality ok, but not very loud. MP3 not checked, because no data cable is included. Gets charged quickly, and after full charge on Saturday night, it is still showing 2 sticks (out of 3! The charge display has 3 sticks, not usual 4, so the charge is 33%, 66% & 100%. Wierdness on samsung's part.) Virgin's service seems ok, no call drops yet. The feel of handset is great and very light. I will update my progress on this thread. Wish me luck!

Good Points About Lg Low Cost Handsets, Based On My Experience With Lg 3500
ani_meher replied to kshah's topic in LG
Yes, that 1000 mAh battery takes its own sweet time to charge, but then, the battery life itself is very good. My 3500 easily lasts 3 to 4 days on one full charge, with moderate talking. Heat from CDMA heat is normal. I recommend that if your usage is high, get a hands free, it will be a great comfort. -
Good Points About Lg Low Cost Handsets, Based On My Experience With Lg 3500
ani_meher replied to kshah's topic in LG
Agree, 3500 is a good handset, and not at all bad looking for its price. Hope the techie will be able to crack the net connection thing. Also, waiting for the unlock procedure, like with 3000/3100. -
While searching on net, I came across this link: http://www.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.p...ht=samsung+s259 I am currently in Pune, and maybe my schedule won't permit to go all the way to manish market when i m in Mumbai. What do you reckon, above procedure will be safe? Suppose if i brick my handset, can i claim the warranty by virgin?
-
Hey congrats! So in 3k rs handset, you get 2k talktime to any network! cool. Now the best thing will be to flash it with Anycall firmware and use it on reliance
-
It doesn't work with N2865, which has Java.
-
Just came across this offer. I was very keen to buy this phone at this price, but am waiting for confirmation from techies whether this can be converted to Reliance.
-
Sorry Asit, I couldn't find any tool for Urdu transliteration.

This is a cheap tactics used by Reliance, but nothing new for them. However, Airtel guys must be furious!
