The 2630 is mostly just a skin on basic 2230. The 3330 looks good. But really, 50 R world tones space is a waste. Could've used that space for something good. Also, why the hell Brew platform, after 2 years of complaints?

On Saturday, the phone battery was very weak, ie discharging very quickly. Also the phone would not come ON unless the battery is kept aside for 1 hr+the hard reset button pressed+the backlight button is pressed. I quickly transferred my number from the 7135 on good old 6130, and luckily so. Because from yesterday, my handset is not at all going in the phone menu. the phone is not getting on, no matter what. I tried all possible combinaiton of resets, but the "Routine maintenance" messege won't just come up. What to do? Should I trust the kyocera guys and give it to repair, or should I just continue the use of PDA, till the day that also suddenly stops working? I am really sad that my beloved 7135 should be in this phase, and that too with absolutely NO physical accidents. For the ones thinking of buying of 7135, go ahead on YOUR OWN risk,as luck may fail.

I kept the battery out of phone for a while, but no use. After searching the net, I just did the real hard reset, ie not just usual hard reset, but also removing the battery and pressing the hard reset and light key for some time, and reset button and switch off button for some time. I again inserted the battery, and switched on the phone. The data was obviously gone, but there was a "routine maintainance in progress" message, and the phone switched on! Even the software list is showing correct software versions! I just pray that this may be the only problem.

The Kyocera ASC in Mumbai knows nothing. I showed them how to go the service programming menu. I'll try what u said. i'll remove the battery now, and will try to upgrade after 7-8 hrs. @all: Pls pray that this expt will come out good.

The phone shows only "Phone is OFF". And there is no warranty on the handset . I have read that the SRCP message is quite dengerous, leading to death of phone, but it is not the case with my cell. Can anything be done?

Damn it. My phone is just refusing to start, even after a hard reset. I don't know what's the problem, there are no hacks working, the pda side is working perfectly, still, the phone is not getting started at all. Any help??? eidt: Hey, when I check the software versions, it shows correct version of PDA software , but in Phone software, it shows No Info, and similar to PRL. Why??? I have not done anything in 111111 menu for long time now. Can I install the phone software even when the phone is switched off,as the 111111 menu will not come if the phone is not on. Pls help guys.

Hey guys, I want to buy this camera, Digilife DDV 7000. I am from Mumbai, so pls help me in getting me sellers from Mumbai. There's is a seller in Mumbai. Man does he change his words quickly. I wanted to buy this camera, it was listed for 8995 on rediff shopping. We discussed on phone, and he told me he will give me a package of 13,300 of the cam+1GB memory. When I went to his shop today, he showed me Digilife 660, a older version, with some less features. He tried to convience me how those new features are useless. Then, the price was some 9995. He said he has never ever sold any such items below 9000. OK, I thought must be my mistake looking the price. And how about that package deal? Well, it will go about 15000! I told him, just one day before, he agreed to sell me at 13,300. Then he was like, don't buy the memory from me, it will be costly to you. Finally he agreed to give a package of cam+512MB for Rs.12,200. He also first tried to confuse me about the speed of card, woh to card pe depend rehta hai etc, then told it was 24X. But by this time, I have had enough, and walked out of his shop. The item is still listed on Rediff.com for 8995 only. Sorry for telling all this, if u thought it was a waste of time. OK, now I really need this camera. Pls, can you tell me where can I buy this camera (this model only) in Mumbai? There's the same camera for sell on rediff.com, from another seller, named "deals4all". this guy is listed even in baazee cached pages, and in ebay info page. It tells he is from Andheri. So, can someone just PM me his contact info. Pls, help will be greatly appriciated. ______________________________________ I had given the name of the word changing seller first, but then I thought, jaane do, kyu uska dhanda manda karen. So this post is edited. Butl pls help me searching a seller.

Not possible. You have to create new id only.

Hey guys, the replies are too late. I already bought the camera in July itself. I just mailed that guy, pretending to be someone else, and made a good deal. Perhaps he was quoting such a high price, coz he had seen how me and my gf had liked that cam. Anyways, if anyone wants a digicam with photo shooting at max 6MP interpolated, MPEG4-divx shooting (means much larger video in small space in good quality), 3MP CMOS lense, mp3 player, voice recorder, you can seriously consider this cam. A too good camera in a too good price.
-
Sir, it's a GSM piece. RIM cannot launch it. Besides, RIM would prefer to go bankrupt, than giving us similar quality handsets.
-
I don't think so. You have to use a text to speech software on PC, convert it to mp3 and then transfer the files on memory card. That seems the only way. How do you browse from 7135? I am not able to connect using webpro. Are there any particular settings?
-
That's great news. However there is one goof up: My friend bought a Samsung slim which is polyphonic, at Rs.1700. Maybe they are talking about MRPs. These mobiles will be mostly Use n Throw - don't repair types, as the repair costs may be higher in comparison to the handset price.
-
Basant, link is not working.

Jo hukum, sardar ;-) http://rapidshare.de/files/12283445/OR2.0.zip.html And can someone tell me what's the least price one can expect a 1GB MMC card for? I want to buy one. Any seller? Welcome to the forum. 7135 is really a good phone, with only few drawbacks like low battery life, heavy, no fm, no camera/torch. But it's got one really good point, it's just like a pc! If you go thru the threads regarding this, you can see this handset can be enhanced like anything to your personal liking. The phone comes box packed. It is selling at so cheap price, just because Reliance wants to clear the stock from their inventory, which has been lying down from 2-3 years. No warranty offered, but as faced by me (read the 7135 blues thread), RIM members here are much knowledgeble n helpful than the Service center guys. My advise, go for this handset. Much much VFM for 8000 odd bucks.

If possible, get your hands on the OmniRemote. It is supposed to be better than Novii in terms of utilising the IR strength, ie you will get higher range for Omniremote. I haven't tried Novii Remote, but so far, Omniremote is good.

It's not that difficult, but as required, I am giving you a link. I followed these instructions EXACTLY, and the upgrade went smooth. Refer this FAQ, before and while upgrading the phone. Also, one more observation from me. When you format your phone and then proceed to upgrade the phone software, it may give error while making back up. It did when I was upgrading. Just hotsync with any user name, and then proceed with the upgrade. When you recover your files from backup after upgrading, your username will also be recovered. OK here it is: Updating 7135 firmware FAQ Last update: 12 Aug 2003 This is a suggested series of steps on how to upgrade your 7135 SmartPhone’s firmware. I would suggest using the PST software V3.4.39 for the current level of firmware (44/29). I do not take ANY responsibility if you kill your phone. If you are not confident in your abilities to run this software then DON'T RUN IT! Take your phone to your provider and let them do it. Some parts of the upgrade take several minutes, if there is any possibility you may lose power during the upgrade, then get a UPS and plug your computer and phone into it. If the upgrade is interrupted for any reason, chances are excellent you will kill your phone. The steps: 1. Install the PST software (Windows only, sorry Mac peeps). 2. Backup! Use whatever backup software you are comfortable with, all your custom installed files and settings WILL be overwritten during the upgrade process so do not skip this step unless you want to manually reinstall all your important stuff. 3. You have two alternatives in this step: 3a. Prep your phone by doing a hard reset (press reset button and hold backlight key for a couple seconds, you should get a request asking to erase all data, select yes.) This will eliminate any possibility of a forgotten hack screwing up your upgrade. You're gonna lose everything anyway during the upgrade and if you did step 2 you are fine doing this. or 3b. Deactivate any password protection or power saving software on your phone that may kick on during the upgrade process (VERY IMPORTANT!) Also disable any active hacks on your phone. Doing all this will probably take longer then just doing 3a. 4. Plug the phone’s cradle into a COM port. It is best if you can plug the cradle into a COM port that does not have any hardware devices associated with it. The PST software does not recognize USB ports. No, you cannot plug the cradle into the USB and COM at the same time. 5. Put the 7135 in the cradle and activate the Service Interface on your phone (Dial 111111, down key to options, select service interface). 6. Exit out of the Hotsync software on your computer (right-click on sytem tray icon, select exit.) and then select Software Download from the various PST utilities. 7. Your phone should be detected; it will show up a few seconds after the software loaded (if you plugged into COM1.) You may need to select a different COM port # if you did not plug the phone cradle into COM1. 8. Default tab is Software Download so then browse to the MZ image file. Also, leave "Auto Backup/Restore" checked. Hit start when you've summoned the appropriate amount of courage. This transfer goes fairly quickly. 9. Reset the phone and verify the phone version number has indeed been updated. I’d suggest you re-activate the phone (dial *228, option 1) and then update the roaming (dial *228, option 2). 10. To update the SZ firmware, reset the phone while holding the down key (the one under the OK key) for a couple seconds. This puts the phone in the mode for the SZ update. You will know because the 7135 screen will “go rainbow" the screen looks like a color palette. If you are not in the right mode, the Software Download app will not try to update the SZ firmware, but will pop up a screen giving the same basic instructions on how to get the phone into the right mode. 11. Select the SmartPhone Download tab (in the Software Download app) and browse to the SZ image file. Hopefully you still have courage left over from step 8 to hit start! This download can take upwards from 15 minutes. 12. Hard Reset the phone (may require hard reset) after the SZ update completes, check the firmware and verify everything is good. 13. Restore files from backup. 14. That’s it! Here is some other stuff you may want to check if you are updating from really old firmware (thanks alanb!) a. You may want to check a couple of things in the Service programming application. b. Set your phone into Service Interface mode (Step 5, above) and start the Kyocera Service Programming module. c. Connect to your phone (if it asks for the service code, it is 000000. should be the default) d. On the buttons on the bottom, hit READ. This will bring in the current settings on your phone. e. Before doing anything else, hit the SAVE button. This will allow you to make a backup of your current settings, which you could restore later if you need to. f. On the NAM1 tab, on the Channel Range item, make sure it says US (The Alltel phones are set to Korea. It shouldn't actually cause an issue in the US, but might if you travel to other countries with CDMA). g. Under ERI list, make sure there is a file listed. If it is blank, find someone to provide you the correct file to go in there. h. On the Data tab, scroll down to "Idle Screen 3G Data Info" and make sure it is set to TRUE (this controls whether you see 1X or D in 1X capable areas). i. If you want to change your carrier startup logo, you can do that on the SmartPhone Specific tab. Any bitmap of the right size and color depth (160x90 x 8bit) can be loaded on your phone from here. j. The MZ44 firmware tells the network your phone is NOT ERI capable (which is why your PRL changed on the firmware update), so you will no longer get the Verizon banner over-writing your personal banner. If a future version of firmware changes this behavior back to full ERI support, you can change thbanners for the various home and roam states on the General tab, Roam Messages 1-6 (1 is home). k. After you are done with any changes, save them to the phone. l. After changes are finished being saved, reset your phone. Please PM me if you have suggestions on changes, additions, or deletions to these steps. from http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showpost.ph...478&postcount=1 Take the copy of above FAQ. It's very helpful. Do the later part ie saving the settings first, and then go ahead with the upgrade. The phone upgrade takes hardly 5-7 mins, whereas the PDA upgrade takes 15-20 mins. You should upgrade both the phone as well as PDA firmware, as some softwares are linked to both parts. Hope that was useful.

What does the beam receive do? Is it for receiving the files by IR? Because even when it is switched off, I can use the Phone as remote control, so the beam sending is not harmed. I am now pretty much confident, that the beam setting is only for continuously searching for IR signals, and it can be switched off safely. I even trained the remote in phone by a real remote, when the beam receive was OFF. So what does this setting exactly do, if it is not disabling my sending or receiving of IR?

I have successfully upgraded the firmware. But the messages that come time to time are bit scary. Sometimes it shows 'trying to communicate with phone', n the above header reads ,"no phone detected", leaving ur heart in ur stomach. But all went smoothly (thankfully). The PDA upgrade takes more time than phone upgrade. The phone is much stable now, and the battery life is definitely increased. There is also a microphone improvement, ie the mic is more receptive now. Overally, a highly recommended upgrade, especially if your phone has become unstable (read my post "7135 blues").

I successfully updated my firmware. Thanks to the wonderful support from RIMWEB, Ashoksoft, Iceman, and , and most importantly, Kshah. Thanks guys. The phone is stable now.

And what does that mean? This story is NOT a made up story. i can give proofs if needed. I am sure I'll find that day's newspaper.

I think this is just justifying the taking of bribes. How can you justify the bribes taken from each hawker and shop? You can say the police is serving the noble cause 'Live n let live'. We bribe, because they do not do the work that is supposed to be their duty. Why should a simple matter such as taking down the FIR should take so many days? i am sure after so many days, that policeman must have realised he couldn't get any money out of Kalyan, and filed his FIR. Justifying the bribes is just too much. Even the policewala will not have guts for that. And if they do have such tight budgets that their monthly expenses are covered from this 'extra' income, why don't they find some other way instead of looting innocent public? There was an incidence a few months back. A girl was eve-teased on Kandivali station. She filed a complaint in Railways (I know Railway n state police is different, but still). After a few days, the buggers once again tried their hands on the same girl. Unfortunately, that girl was knowing Karate ( a black belt, if I am not mistaking). She somehow captured one thug, when they were trying to throw acid on her. She dragged him to the police. N what did the noble police do? they let go of the thug, and made her sit in the police station upto 10 in night. Then she started receiving calls from those thugs, that we will take badla n all. She complained again, but the reply was " complaint karna aapka kaam hai, unhe pakadna hamara. Use 10 din lag sakte hai, 10 mahine ya 10 saal." This is not some made up story, but there was an article on this girl in famous marathi newspaper "Loksatta" a few months back. Pls guys, don't glorify a bad deed.

Make sure you have selected the "service interface" option from the 111111 menu. Were you in that mode, when you got this error?

Just posted a few posts above you! right here!

Even I agree with supernova. I know it's not legel, or even ethical, but sadly, that's the way it is. Imagine yourself in shoes of kalyan_prince, who has lost his valuable belonging, and the Police is not even filing a FIR, which is their duty. Today, the police really works on the money man. Love it or hate it, but you can get a lot of things done from Police all legally, if you go thru right channels. Sad, but true.

I got it from... a very helpful member. Thanks. I'll try it tonight. Now one more problem is arising. The phone isn't willing to go to Service Programming mode. When I go to 111111->Options->Programming, n enter the password 111111, it just shows 'reading parameters' n nothing else. It just hangs there, n needs a soft reset. In phone prefs, when we change the default Dir number by our number, we get two options from the service menu in Phone prefs, one is our number, n one is the default number. When I lost the MIN, it was not showing any number. Now I got the phone running, after inserting the MIN (provided by kyocera, which was strangely different from the original one, it is not 000000****, it is 14 something.) Then I again changed the Dir number to my number. It showed up in the service menu in Phone Prefs, and in the drop down menu, one number was mine, and the other option is just "phone line 2". Today morning, it is again showing "phone line 1" n "phone line 2". My number is gone from list! The phone is still on network though. What is this happening? Is it some kinda virus of what? I will try updating the phone software tonight.
