Yep, I am not denying the power of DSLRs at all. Simply the practicality matters more at the time being! Also, I am no professional photographer, so not that my photos are going to pay themselves off. Maybe in future I will turn to DSLRs.

Last week, I went to Krome store to try the DSLRs, as I have never handled DSLRs before. I felt them to be really huge to handle comfortably. I am a 'motographer', so I click mostly on motorcycle rides. The camera is most of the times resting in the inner pocket of the jacket. With a DSLR, I don't see how I can still manage to click those pics fast and get moving. Therefore, for time being, I am putting my decision to buy DSLRs at hold. In future, maybe after getting a car and starting to tour in it, I may go for a DSLR!

These 'muzik' phones with their proprietary jack and no support for 3.5mm headphones are bit of a joke. I was very positive on these before knowing about the jack

Buy the virgin mobile c5000 for about 1.6-2k, and unlock it. Very easy to unlock, just a 5-10 mins affair. Then use whatever card u want for net access! I am using Tata data RUIM in it for past many months. No hiccups whatsoever. Just keep in mind that these are not for heavy downloading, so keeping it on for full night will be harmful for the mobile. You can easily use it for day browsing. I hear this a lot. But Nokia ruined 2112 quality in later years. My mom uses her 3-4 years 2112 daily, and it is still rock solid, with great coverage. Only battery is changed a month ago. Nokia really screwed up the quality of handsets later on.

I would say don't bother too much about batteries. You can always buy a second lithium battery for a few hundreds. The camera using lithiums is very slim as compared to AA. I have a 570IS that uses AA, so speaking from experience!

Can I get the prepaid data CDMA sim from BSNL? I can recharge it here, or thru online. It's not available in Pune, but as the roaming data charges are same, can someone from other city buy it and send it to me. I'll take care of the postal expenses.

Flight tickets to Shrinagar cost 6800. Parceling bike from Pune to srinagar costs 3000rs. So in 10000rs, two persons and a bike will reach srinagar. Note that this saves two days of travel in train (3rd AC cost 1363 per person from Mumbai + 1400 minimum for bike luggage) then one day riding to Srinagar, which adds to two Mumbai-Jammu tickets + bike ticket + one night stayl in Jammu + 1 night stay in srinagar + 6 extra lunches and dinners and breakfasts. So actually you will end up spending more via the train + road route than flight + courier route. We will be on road for 16 days. 500rs per day accomodation + 500rs meals + 200rs petrol for bike, it comes to 19200. Coming back will take up less, as we will be catching train/flight from CHD, so max 7000. So cost comes up to 36200, round figure stretching maximum to 40,000. The realistic figure will be around 35,000 for two, for 16 days holiday with everything included, home to home. So 1000 per person per day for such beautiful trip is full paisa vasool I think

Using Picasa, I had wrote some captions on my photos, before my computer crashed. Luckily, I found the photos alongwith the printed captions (I exported the pics with the captions in small size from Picasa for upload). Now, I want to print those pics, and I do have them in bigger resolution. But I can't find the font which I used to write on the photos. I am attaching few pics with that font. I would be very thankful if someone recognizes/finds this font. This was a free font downloaded from net recently, so its certainly not a long lost font.

It was my pleasure to share this trip with all you friends! Regarding the bike, GS150R is a superb tourer. Not even a hiccup by the bike! Riding comfort is good, and mile crunching was very easy and @tanveer: 10 days are really difficult to find, but it was kind of now or never moment. Also, I used the 26 Jan holiday, so effectively, I had to take 6 days leave for a 12 days holiday. Afterall, what's the use of all the accumulated holidays at the age of 60?

Really glad you liked it friends! I thought such adventures may or may not be possible in future when age catches up, so why not do them now when body is in support! Do plan and do a road trip, it changes the way you see the world, and everyone else, who otherwise one just takes granted for.

I don't think the mobile trick is correct, as cameras have nothing to do with the wavelength of mobiles. A hidden camera is not an equivalent of a jammer!
