  3. New Nokia 7100 (supernova) Nokia’s range of basic phones will soon welcome a new member, in the incarnation of Nokia 7100s. The 7100s is a little slider designed in the same manner as the Nokia 7610, which, with its 3.2 MP camera, can be seen as the Supernova flagship phone. That’s why the new 7100s might actually be officially released as Nokia 7100 Supernova. Nokia 7100s, or whichever its name will be in the end, looks cheaper than the 7610 and has fewer features, so it will probably be first outed in emerging markets. The specs of Nokia 7100s are said to include: S40 UI Tri band GSM/EDGE (900 / 1800 / 1900) connectivity QVGA TFT display with 262K colors Music player FM radio Bluetooth 2.0 & USB 2.0 Opera Mini browser, email Flash Lite 2.1.1 support 1.3 MP camera MicroSD card slot Nokia 7100s (or Nokia 7100 Supernova) should have a retail price of about $280, although for the moment there are no clear details regarding its release. 10. It seems that LG has an interesting new plan in taking over high megapixel cameraphone market. Have one sleek high end and expensive highest megapixel cameraphone to dazzle the crowds and wet their appetite. Then produce another high megapixel handset. But make it more simple and affordable. It tried it with high end 5 megapixel LG Viewty KU990 and affordable LG KC550. Now it seems to be the time to do the same for a 8 megapixel cameraphones. With Viewty successor full touchscreen LG Renoir KC910 to cover the high end, LG is now working on simpler 8 megapixel cameraphone - LG KC780. Not much has been known about LG KC780 slider so far. It already has been tested and approved by FCC, at least for GSM1900 band and Bluetooth emissions. Other LG KC780 specs that we’ve been able to ferret out from various sources include: Quadband GSM, GPRS/EDGE connectivity 8 megapixel camera with autofocus, red eye reduction, face recognition and 30fps video recording 140 MB of internal memory microSD memory card slot Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 [vIa:un:wired]
  11. Windows Mobile hits the iPhone 3G Remember that rumor about Steve Jobs having a heart attack that went around not too long ago? Well, it might just be true as soon as Stevo catches wind of this one. The video above shows a brief interview from MyPhone 2008 with a young Norweigan developer named Erik Kristiansen. While Kristiansen might not be the smoothest talker in Vegas, he has managed to put together quite a piece of software. As he explains in the video, he has essentially created bootcamp for the iPhone. When the phone powers on, the user must select between booting OS X and Windows Mobile. No you didn’t misread anything there, we said Windows Mobile! Woh. We’re not sure if iPhone users will exactly be clamoring get Windows Mobile fired up on their iPhones but it might actually be pretty nice to rock an iPhone with an OS that allows things like copy / paste and background processes for third-party apps. Kristiansen is aiming to release his work to the public this coming January and it will be open source. Of course you shouldn’t expect to see this one hit the app store - only jailbroken iPhones need apply. By the way, pretty harsh final question from Ms. Young, no? At least the kid responded politely. We might have commented on Jessica’s slight manliness as opposed to taking the high road as young Kristiansen did. No, seriously - she’s a maaaaaaaaan, maaaaaaaaan. WATCH VIDEO HERE

  13. ICICI Bank among soundest int'l fin institutions: KV Kamath Published on Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 09:35 , Updated at Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 21:14 Source : CNBC-TV18 ICICI Bank fell 20% on Friday. KV Kamath, Managing Director and CEO, ICICI Bank, said that ICICI Bank is very well-capitalised at 150% of the requirement. He added that the bank is among the soundest financial institutions in the world. Kamath feels the anatomy of rumours suggest they are intended to destabilize the bank. He said that the bank will continue to report malicious messages to the regulators, and that rumours are being spread by a market intermediary, and not by any bank. Kamath said that the worry is that such things can be done to other financial institutions as well. He added that he can see a clear patter of disinformation which is a cause for worry. Rumours are playing negatively on the sentiment of people, he said. Kamath clarified that there has not been any drastic decline in deposits in the last three weeks. He said their morale will remain high, and that the bank will continue to fight for its customers. He added that call rates had gone up to 22–24% due to high liquidity crunch and the long-term shareholders have not sold any stocks recently. He further said that no senior management has sold shares in the last nine months.

  17. Htc’s First Wimax Device! - Htc T8290 code-named HTC Quartz o early yesterday evening I got a rather cryptic contact submission here on nedge2k.com regarding a new WiMax enabled HTC device. Needless to say, this had me pretty excited. This morning, I got the pictures and some info…so here it is! What we have here is the "HTC T8290" (code-named HTC Quartz) and it is due out on the Russian WiMax network, Yota, very soon - so I’m told. Some specs as follows: 3.8" 800×480 WVGA LCD GSM+WiMax 802.11g WiFi Bluetooth 2.0 …yes, specs are a bit thin on the ground but I’m told to expect more info soon! So what’s so good about WiMax? Well, think of it as having ADSL2+ on your phone! From the pictures, you can clearly see this thing is connecting at speeds around 14meg, impressive! Processor: QUALCOMM® ESM7206A @ 528MHz Cellular networks: GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS900, UMTS2100 Cellular Data connections: CSD, GPRS, EDGE, 3G/UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA TouchScreen: WVGA 480 x 800 TFT 3.8 ” (65536 scales) MDDI Samsung S3CA460 ROM: 512MB RAM: 256MB or 128MB Mobile WiMAX: 802.16e (chipset Sequans SQN1130) Wi-Fi: 802.11b/g with VoWLAN capabilities (VoIP enabled) microSD, microSDHC, TransFlash and SDIO support Built-in GPS Built-in accelerometer (GSensor) TV-Out 5 Megapixel Camera IrDA …pretty much what you’d expect from a new device - excluding the WiMax of course! Nice to see a decent camera included and, interestingly, the comeback of IrDa? [vIa:nedge2k.com]
