  1. Google’s Android Estimated To Gain 4 Percent Marketshare Among Smartphones: Report With Google’s (NSDQ: GOOG) first Android phone just days away from being unveiled, the predictions have started flying. In the final three months of the year, Strategy Analytics is estimating that the Google Android operating system will account for 4 percent of all smartphones sold in the U.S. That means T-Mobile USA will sell about 400,000 of the HTC phones, out of the 10.5 million smartphones forecasted to be sold during the fourth quarter. Chris Ambrosio, Strategy Analytics’ executive director said: “Google has the brand power in the USA to make a big impact at launch.” He qualified that statement by saying that in order to be competitive against those already in the market, such as Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT), Symbian, Apple (NSDQ: AAPL), Palm (NSDQ: PALM), LiMo and BlackBerry, the carrier will have to subsidize the product so that the retail price is below $200. Information leaked out earlier this week said the device will likely be sold for $199. Release. [vIa:moconews]
  2. Mozilla confirms Firefox Mobile is coming in 2010 Mozilla is a lot like Google: they tirelessly innovate at what they do best. Or at least, that’s the public’s perception of them. So in view of giving users more flexibility when it comes to browsing the Internet on their mobile phones or other handheld devices, Mozilla plans to introduce a mobile version of the Firefox web browser by 2010. Granted, 2010 is still quite a long wait, but then again, creating a mobile version of one of the world’s most popular browsers isn’t exactly a piece of cake. And hopefully, Mozilla will use its time to make mobile Firefox hassle-free for users. The mobile version of Firefox would be pitted against the likes of Opera Mini, Internet Explorer, and Mobile Safari, and should adopt the same “desktop feel” as its desktop counterpart. Apart from what’s mentioned, no other details about mobile Firefox were provided. We guess it’s up to 2010 for us to wait, then. [vIa: The Register]
  3. Back in August, LG officially announced the new LG KC910, the successor to the LG Viewty. Officially given the name LG Renoir, the phone has made its appearance in a few pictures snagged from it168.com. A short review of the specs will remind you that it has Quad-band GSM, UMTS (HSDPA 7.2 Mbps), 3 inch WQVGA 240×400 touchscreen display, 8 megapixel camera with Xenon flash & Schneider-Kreuznach lens, GPS with geotagging support, Bluetooth 2.0, and WiFi. The Renoir is expected to be available sometime in October. We have another touchscreen phone with a huge beautiful 8MP camera and some more cell phone eye candy for you all. Hit the jump for the rest of the pics. [vIa: it168.com]
  4. Yeah, we have computers with LCD displays already--they're called laptops. But if you ever wondered how a conventional desktop PC would look like with a built-in display, then wonder no more. Shuttle D10, which was introduced a couple of months ago, is slated for a release in Japan this week. As you can see on the picture, there's an embedded seven-inch display on the body of the desktop PC itself. It's a touch LCD display, but its resolution is a mere 800x400 pixels, so if you intend to seriously use the computer, you still have to attach a monitor to it. For prices starting under $500, you get a choice among Core 2 Duo E4000 series, E2000 series, or Celeron 400 series CPU, 2GB to 4GB of DDR2, 5.1 Channel Audio Support, and four USB ports. 9. T-Mobile Android phone to hit stores on Oct 17, Sprint Android phone coming next year Android, Google’s new operating system for devices, will be officially unveiled as part of the HTC “Dream” phone launch on T-Mobile on September 23rd, at a press conference in New York. The phone, to be officially called the “G1″ will ship on October 13th and arrive in stores on October 17, sources tell us. This is a few days earlier than previous reports suggested, but otherwise fits with what we’ve been hearing. The Android team, which has been given every resource available from Google, has until recently been expecting excited press coverage, sources say. The reason: Android’s software is like a nicely baked cake plus a container of frosting. It’s a full stack of software components for an operating system (the cake itself) that includes customizable interfaces and features such as an “app store” (the frosting). Carriers, in the Android team’s view, just need to take Android and put the frosting on the cake the way they like, so to speak. A lot of people will expect their Android cake to be frosted like the iPhone, but somehow better. The reality is that there’s not enough accurate information out there to say how the Dream is or isn’t comparable to the iPhone. This perception problem is a result of Google’s own strategy. Google wanted to try out Android with one device and one carrier before pushing out others. So how much does this first device really matter? Android is itself a software platform, remember, not a direct iPhone competitor. Android is meant to drive the mass market adoption of full-featured “smartphones” and applications. It intends to make the mobile web more ubiquitous so Google can get more people using its various applications and seeing its ads. For this reason, the Android team itself actually sees the iPhone as an ally of sorts. In the meantime, if you’re looking to do an apples-to-apples comparison of an Android phone and the iPhone, it’s best to wait until more Android-based phones come to market. Android’s leaders have already started acknowledging the iPhone-comparison perception problems. Perhaps in the light of that uneasiness, Google’s Mike Jennings showed off the Dream handset — from a distance — at a developer conference in London this morning. Jenning’s phone is the first official image of the Dream running Android (screenshots above, via Tech Radar). Early news about the Android launch surfaced in mid-July. Wider layers of management at T-Mobile started to see the device in August, but no reliable images of the device had appeared so far. Expect a lot more news about Android, however things go with the Dream. In addition to T-Mobile, some other carriers in the Open Handset Alliance, such as Telefonica, are trying out Android. And today, Google invited a computer maker, Asustek Computer Inc, to join the OHA. New information coming out about Android seems rather positive. The Wall Street Journal wrote earlier this year that Android has been running into delays, but today has a more positive report: HTC expects to ship 600,000 to 700,000 units of Dream, its sources say, exceeding analyst estimates of 300,000 to 500,000 units. The earlier Journal article cited one delay coming from Sprint’s planned phone. We’re now hearing from multiple sources that the Sprint Android phone will have “other functionality” than the Dream, and will definitely be out by 2009. [vIa: vB]

  12. The first handset featuring Google's Android operating system is set to debut with T-Mobile USA on Sept. 23, according to a Reuters report. The news agency on Friday cited "sources familiar with the plans," and representatives from Google and T-Mobile did not confirm the date. Google announced the Android platform and the Open Handset Alliance last November with the goal of bringing the openness of the Internet to a mobile environment. This ambitious plan is a direct challenge to the established players in the industry, and the first release has been highly anticipated. Andy Rubin, Google's director of mobile platforms, told Reuters that Android is in the final stages and that the first handset will be made by Taiwan's High Tech Computer. While the mobile operating system will be on a plethora of devices, the companies made a strategic decision to have it launch on a single handset. "Google wanted to make sure that we had enough control over the hardware to make sure the software worked," Rubin said. Earlier this week, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said the company's App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch has seen more than 100 million downloads in the first 60 days. This shows a hunger for mobile programs, and Rubin sees the Android Market as a major driver for Android adoption. Google is hoping to win over developers by being more open than Apple's offering. With Android Market, content creators will be able to upload, describe, and publish content in a process similar to posting a video on YouTube. By contrast, Apple approves all entries in its store and takes a 30% cut from any application sold. "We made a strategic decision not to revenue share with the developers," said Rubin. "We will basically pass through any revenue to the carrier or the developer."

  15. Htc Laptop

This photo is the concept. It is not true and it is not HTC The basic characteristics: WiFi: the latest Bluetooth: with all the latest technology Universal output miniUSB: audio Power supply: What is the smallest of the additional RJ45 ports, video output, RJ11 and even a few USB (USB never too little). A large amount of memory: at least 4GB of RAM LCD: backlit by LED Camera: low 800x600 resolution, for example, a large matrix of large pixels. This was the image quality by rewelacyjna. Autofokus also would be necessary. Microphones: It's stereo. Good sound quality is needed in recording the movie. Modem: necessarily built-in GSM modem, which works all over the world with convenient access to the SIM. Additions which require clarification Akcelerometr: Akcelerometr is one of those sensors on which you can not prevail in terms of programs that can arise when his aid. Possibilities for its use is very much, here are a few of my ideas: The sensor to turn off the drive-head of the Alarm laptop - raising / ruszenie laptop starts alarm Jedi sword - makes hill-starting laptop playback sounds light-sword - a standard application for akcelerometru. Who knows what people could build on his ... Putting akcelerometru will not hurt, on the contrary - it can enhance creativity, which will create many new interesting programmes. Sensor lights: If well implemented, it could regulate backlight keyboard, screen and who knows what else ... Informing the user that the time to sleep? The exemption at the time of detection of inactivity and lack of light. Receiver FM / AM: Having built into the laptop to the radio, which to me the most is missing. The receiver radio does not take a lot of space and the opportunity to listen to the radio while working for sure is a nice prospect. You can listen to some music journal, or if you get bored us what we have to drive and looking for diversity. Built-in headphones BT: In today's era of VoIP is increasingly popular and its use is a burden of guilt on a PC with cables. I always odłączam headphones from a laptop because I do not want to have plątaniny cables. When someone like me have to make a phone call to reject the call, write that as soon as connection of cables and run after them. If the Bluetooth headset was immediately built into laptop casing is significantly facilitated by the use of Internet telephony. Now, the headphones are so small, that we could easily find a place for them in housing. A large number of USB ports: I do not have to convince anybody here that there is something such as a limit on the quantity of USB ports in a laptop. Not only that the port is needed to connect the device is useful for loading equipment. The laptop should have a HTC wypchany side of the brim USB ports. GPS Receiver: It could be much discussion about the GPS receiver - such as in laptop? If the laptop was tabletem it could be used for navigation. Maybe handy little but practicable. In addition przysłużyłby as an alarm. If someone stole a laptop, it could track down. This photo is the concept. It is not true and it is not HTC Reader fingerprint lines: Necessity! Each new laptop should be geared to safety. This is a mobile device, which carries outside the home and where are our private data or corporate data. This laptop should have a hardware-encrypted drive and the only option that all fire equipment would be to introduce the correct password and read fingerprint lines. Losing a laptop is not important - the only thing. The data are important. The thought that a stranger may have access to all our personal data should be sufficient that each began its security interest to the hard disk. Silniczek to vibration: No precisely. Phones to have, to have a PDA, laptop why not? Why not informed about the status of some vibration through? We are at the airport, turn off the sound so as not to interfere with people and suddenly we do not know what's happening with our system and programs. With the vibration could be informed of the received mail, IM messages, some complete the application error on the screen, etc. The thermometer, barometer and moisture sensor: Too weird and crazy? But why not? If sensors mounted on the chassis and the display if the display was based on LED technology, reading sensors would be sufficiently precise that these sensors have become useful. Thanks to these three sensors could write a nice program that will amend our laptop in the weather station. They are not especially expensive so why not add them? If the API available to them, people are sure to stop by the interesting ideas on how to use them. End of colored lights: Enough with oczojebnymi diodami in laptops. End of kującym in the eyes of blue or green podświetlającym entire room. Enough with all this. I know that I turned it on a laptop because I work and great świecący LCD already sufficiently informed me that the laptop works. Enough with the blue diode which tells me that I turned on WiFi or BT. I know that they are involved because I have access to the Internet and send files to Pocketa. Enough with unnecessary diodami. I quite diodami with colour. Delicate white light is all you need to know what happens with the laptop. Loads? Tell me. Śpi? Tell me. The sound is turned off? Tell me. The disk is working? Tell me. End! Dotykowe buttons: The buttons, which do click should take a long time. Now, everything should be in touch, as HP is doing in Pavilionach. End of additional szparami where he gets to dust. End buttons, which przecierają etc. Only the government is sensitive buttons on the touch and divided into appropriate portions. An interesting option would be to put in such a row of thin, long LCD, which would carry the sequence of buttons with the possibility to add their own features and icons. Something similar to the famous keyboard Optimusa. Remote management of the laptop: Laptop should be supplied with the program for Windwos Mobile suited to handle the finger. You should be able to control every aspect of multimedialności. Windows Media Player should be on our skinienie as well as other programs to play movies and music. Since Pockety have a touch screen, it should be used as a TouchPad through, which could control the cursor to perform some basic steps in the system. It is clear that the precision of such a solution will not be as true in TouchPad, but who knows. Extras: The ability to run the PC via PDA - Bios customize so that as possible. The possibility of setting the PDA when the laptop is shut down. End of an optical-drive: Let the system will be delivered to the key to re-install and let the ends era of optical drives. They are free, too big, too little and too capacious defective. Now terabytes, which can be bought in a shop in the form of hard disks in sufficient completeness and what is most important for us, it can be easily and conveniently backupować network through services that cost literally cent. The Internet is increasingly omnipresent. How can we not at home to a mobile phone. Speed has not yet, but there is no equipment to be novices but for people familiar technology, who can briefly pocierpieć to be precursors. Index: The only thing to teach us UMPC, the invention using indicators mouse. TouchPad occupies too much space. It is precisely and the possibility of setting up zones and the behaviour is quite, quite, but if look at the average laptop - has nearly 1 / 3 positions. Manufacturers UMPC quite strongly began to experiment with different versions of the mouse pointer. Some did miniature TouchPada, others przerobili concept fingerprint reader line and przemienili him in the optical mouse. He is currently the only solution that recognizes the exam. This is sufficient and accurate enough for these uses. "Instant-On Linux" / "expressgate": Laptop HTC should be strongly Asusa solution that allows a computer to run a special version of Linux, which appears almost immediately after you turn on the equipment. This is very useful for the rapid checking something on the Internet without having to run the entire system. well the above was an article that i found on the internet, its NOT TRUE just an imagination none of the above pics are true. 16. NEW DELHI: State-owned telecom major Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) plans to extend broadband coverage to 1,48,000 villages over the next six months. BSNL, which offers broadband across 3261 cities, will expand to 5000 cities by March 2009. Said Communications and IT Minister Thiru A Raja, “Government will initially connect 5000 blocks by wireless broadband, soon after the allocation of the spectrum, with support from the USO fund. Villages coming within a radius of 10 km of the block headquarter shall be covered by such connectivity. This will benefit many institutional users like schools, public health centers, village panchayats and the community service centers (CSCs) which is meant to provide e-governance and data services to the rural areas. BSNL will play a major role in providing the wireless broadband connectivity as it has done in case of the shared mobile infrastructure scheme. In order to promote expansion of rural wire line and wire line based broadband services, government has recently decided to waive off the license fees for rural wire line.” BSNL has already floated zonal tenders with plans to procure 93 million lines to extend coverage of GSM mobile services to all the villages in the country having more than 1000 population. The procurement of the lines will be done in a phased manner. Through this expansion, BSNL will also introduce value added services like mobile TV, mobile broadband, MMS, location based services etc. Further in order to boost telephony in rural areas, BSNL recently introduced a tariff plan called 'Gramin 75’ under which fixed monthly charges have been reduced from Rs 110 to Rs 75. The plan applies to exchange systems having capacity between 1000 and 29999 lines. Also fixed monthly charges of Sulabh Plan under Fixed/WLL service in exchange system of more than 29,999 lines have also been reduced from Rs 120 to Rs 99. BSNL is already providing telephone connections to 550,000 villages across the country. It has extended 11 million GSM connections in the rural areas. The company’s GSM coverage reaches out to about 256,000 villages, which means over 43 per cent of the total number of villages. Besides, it also covers 75 per cent of the villages through its WLL network. The government plans to complete 500 million telephone connections by 2010 and 750 million connections by 2012. 17. JuiceCaster Brings MMS to the iPhone with Flutter For a good while JuiceCaster has allowed users to share photos and videos with friends via the Web and through third-party services like MySpace, Facebok, Blogger, Xanga, and others. And it’s made a decent share of news with releases associated with these functions. It’s been featured in AT&T’s MEdia Mall. It was updated in May to include geo-tagging. It’s even got an application custom-built for use with BlackBerry devices. And just days ago it was added to the Nokia Download store. The next device on the list: the iPhone. Sharing photos and videos with friends via the iPhone of course already possible, through both standard applications provided by Apple and third-party solutions. But the function that has generally eluded iPhone users, often to their irritation, given the power that is packed into the slim, multi-touch device, is the very basic and nearly universal MMS, or multimedia messaging. Pictures sent directly to other mobile phones. This is what the JuiceCaster Flutter application, a free offering in the App Store, promises to accomplish. You may have seen with many other App Store downloads the features delivered through Flutter things like basic text input, photo capture and uploading, and location-spotting. Much more than this, in fact. What’s more, iPhone users, even equipped with Flutter, can’t exercise the full potential of the JuiceCaster service for the fact that video recording is not possible through Apple-approved means. Still, the ability for Flutter to send text and images and location together to mobile phone numbers in one’s address book in what JuiceCaster’s engineers dub a “virtual multimedia message” is something that will likely appeal to many.
