What has Happened to RIL...Mukeshn is not using RIM's network to join outlets instead using network of HUGHES..... NEW DELHI: Hughes, the world's leading provider of broadband satellite services, networks and products for businesses, governments and consumers, Monday announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to connect 1000 retail outlets of Reliance Industries across the country. This deployment will be complete by October 2005. The deal valued at Rs 8 crores involves Hughes installing a technology backbone for all of Reliance petroleum outlets in a phased manner, connecting 3000 outlets by 2006. Reliance will deploy the DiRECWAY 7700 platform, a two-way satellite broadband solution and the most advance broadband satellite technology in the world today. Reliance will be the first customer to use this in India that will run all its applications on a single infrastructure. These applications include tank monitoring, sales management, credit access, back office applications, POS services and value added services like WiFi access, multicasting, package delivery and internet access. Hughes will build, manage and provide on ground support for all these services. "Oil & Gas is one of the strongest market segments for Hughes worldwide. I am confident that with our experience and understanding of this industry, we will be able to deliver on Reliance's vision of superior customer experience," said Partho Banerjee, President, Hughes India. epaper.timesofindia.com BSNL cuts broadband rates New Delhi: State-owned telecom firm BSNL has slashed broadband rates of 256 Kbps connection by 50%. Now, subscribers will have the option to choose BSNL DataOne service of 256 Kbps connection for Rs 250 a month, instead of Rs 500. The charges work out to be even lower (Rs 2,500) if you decide to pay for 12 months at one go. But the company has decided to reduce the download limit on 250 plan to 400 MB, instead of 1 GB available in Rs 500 plan. It has however reduced the cost of per MB download (after the 400 MB limit is over) to Rs 1.40, from Rs 2. In case you opt for Rs 500 plan, the additional download rate would be Rs 1.20 per MB. Meanwhile, Network service provider Hughes has slashed its satellite broadband prices by 40% with the introduction of five new high speed service plans. The new service plans would give organisations the flexibility to select a scheme that meets their business requirement as they scale up the enterprise applications or number of users and will be operational from August 20, Hughes India said. The plans namely enterprise 500, 400, 300, 200 and 100, priced between Rs 2,000 to Rs 10,000 to deliver up to one mbps of downstream and upstream needs. MTNL is also expected to announce a new offer within a couple of days. MTNL officials said it expected to revive a plan, under which subscribers need not pay monthly charges but a certain amount (about Rs 2) per MB of download. TNN always early and eagerly yours

Anil Ambani peeved with NDTV, bars channel from press conference By SONALI KRISHNA Indiantelevision.com Team (3 August 2005 10:00 pm) MUMBAI: The 31st AGM of Reliance Industries (RIL) held in the city today --- the first after the Ambani brothers split --- saw younger sibling Anil Ambani and an NDTV reporter in an altercation. The incident happened post the AGM - where for the first time Anil Ambani was there as an RIL shareholder and not promoter. As Ambani strode out, he was followed by television reporters vying for a sound bite. Something NDTV business editor Shivnath Thukral said as he thrust his microphone towards Ambani seems to have raised Ambani's hackles. He was seen flinging the NDTV microphone aside and in the process Thukral almost lost his footing. And later in the day, a press conference called by Ambani to announce the formation of two new companies, Global Fuel Management Services and Reliance Communication Ventures Ltd, under the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Enterprises (ADAE) umbrella, had a conspicuous absentee - Thukral. A senior NDTV source claims that the reason the channel's senior business journalist was absent was because ADAE head of corporate communications Jimmy Mogul had called up Thukral and informed him that NDTV was not invited for the press conference. And the reason for the ban? According to the NDTV source, it was Thukral's poser to Ambani, "Anil Bhai what made you decide to come to the AGM?" that had so angered the ADAE chairman. A Reliance official, however, said the media was overplaying the incident. "If one does not want to speak to the press, then that is his choice. Also Anil was in an extremely vulnerable and emotional frame of mind, so his reaction is understandable," he said. Meanwhile, NDTV aired footage today stating Anil Ambani had manhandled the media. Interestingly though, despite the ban, NDTV Profit still aired the happenings of Anil Ambani's media briefing. Queried about this, the NDTV source said, "We carry news, irrespective of the ban and the news came on Bloomberg. We are just doing our duty to inform viewers. It is indeed a sad day for journalism if one decides whom to call or not call on the basis of the questions journalists pose. If that was the case, all that journos have to do is sit back and wait for press releases." Src:IndianTelevision

Anil Ambani said that a new company called Reliance Communication, with a market cap of Rs 25,000 crore, will be listed shortly. That will own the entire telecom business of the group. This means Reliance Communication will own four companies - Reliance Infocomm, Reliance Telecom, Flag Telecom and Reliance Communication Infrastructure. Guys will this help in improving the Relaince Infocomm's Services and expansion... I Think its the right step? What d u think _______________________________________________ Bussiness Standard News Anil to float two holding firms by March Our Corporate Bureau / Mumbai August 04, 2005 Ambanis spell out new order. Anil Ambani, chairman of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Enterprises, today announced formation of two holding companies, Reliance Communication Ventures Ltd (RCVL) and Global Fuel Management Services Ltd (GFMS), to pave the way for the demerger of the Reliance business empire. Both the companies will be listed by March next year. RCVL is the proposed holding company of the telecom business which includes Reliance Infocomm, Reliance Communications Infrastructure, Reliance Telecom and Flag Telecom. Reliance Industries’ 65.9 per cent stake in Reliance Infocomm and 35.2 per cent stake in Reliance Telecom will be transferred to RCVL. The market cap of RCVL was expected to be about Rs 25,000 crore, Ambani said. GFMS is the proposed holding company to house supply of natural gas from Reliance Industries. The gas will be utilised for the group’s power generation projects aggregating over 11,000 Mw in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Both the companies will have paid-up equity capital of Rs 611 crore each. The face value of shares in these two companies will be Rs 5 apiece. “These two companies along with Reliance Energy Ltd and Reliance Capital Ltd will be demerged from Reliance Industries Ltd and then listed separately,” Ambani told a hurriedly called press conference-cum-analysts meet. He also mentioned that Reliance Capital and Reliance Energy would be listed overseas to ensure that the Reliance Industries’ GDR shareholders received their rightful share in the demerged entities. Ambani said for every 100 shares held in Reliance Industries, shareholders would get about five Reliance Capital shares, seven Reliance Energy shares and 100 shares each of both RCVL and GFMS. The listing of RCVL and GFMS and the distribution of the shares of ADAE companies to the shareholders of Reliance Industries will be completed by March 31, 2006. Once listed, all the companies will have a combined shareholder base of 7 million. With the proposed listing of the holding company of the telecommunication business RCVL, Ambani ruled out the possibility of Reliance Infocomm going public. After re-organisation, ADAE will hold 50.5 per cent stake in Reliance Capital, 26.4 per cent in Reliance Energy and 37 per cent each in GFMS and RCVL. At present, it holds 0.3 per cent in Reliance Capital and 6.1 per cent in Reliance Energy. The retail shareholders’ stake in Reliance Capital will come down to 22.6 per cent from 29 per cent post demerger. But their stake in Reliance Energy will go up to 17.4 per cent from the current level of 6.7 per cent. They will hold 19.2 per cent each in GFMS and RCVL. Anil Ambani said he and his brother Mukesh had signed a “non-compete” clause but declined to give details of the arrangement. _________________________________________________________________
