Yes, I'm more than willing to join-in the Tata DoCoMo. I have been waiting for more than an year for the launch! Even if it is 2 Paise/Sec, for the STD/NLD calls, it would add up to only Rs. 1.20/Min and my existing GSM service provider is charging me Rs. 1.50. In any given situation provided all things being constant, I would always vote for the good company, not just good at operations, but good at the core.

Dear Mr. Ajin, I spoke with the Tata Indicom Tamil Nadu CC guy 3 days ago regarding this issue, and he told me that he doesn't have any update on this. I will let you know once operations start in my circle. I hope Indicom will certainly consider DoCoMo as on-net. Indicom is not known to be stingy in planning its offerings, their offers usually don't have any unfair restrictions. For example, in Andhra Pradesh, when Indicom gave free on-net minutes they can be used at any time, unlike other operators which say "free minutes to be used between 11pm to 6am" (which is the time when people sleep!!!) Another example is the Recharge Voucher 240(Intra-Circle) and RC 490(Inter-Circle) in AP which gave Indicom users to make unlimited on-net calls to any Tata phone in AP or India, it doesn't matter whether you call mobile/landline or Tata/Virgin all that really mattered was that the number should start either with '92' in case of mobiles or '6' in case of Walky/Wire-line. Every operator has what they call "Black-Out days" when standard SMS charges will be applicable even if you subscribe to a free SMS packs,.... Tata Indicom has the least number of "Black-Out days". They didn't even considered 'Valentine's day' as a black-out day, except for few national holidays and religious festivals. Sorry for the lengthy script......

I spoke with the TN CC guys and strongly insisted that I want atleast one retailer name where he is 100% confident that I'll get a SIM..... and also added it doesn't matter even if the shop is located 10 KM away from Nagercoil. He gave the following addresses: Shop#1: Metro Cellcom, near collector's office, opposite K.P. Road. Shop#2: Mobile World, 81E, opposite to Shankar Lingam Hospital. Shop#3: Cell park, near Deena Bank, Kottar. I'm sure you would have checked these shops, but just sending in case if you missed any one.

As each one of them has its own distinction, they would not conflict each others identity. People who just want the basic & economical voice services or internet services would go to the Indicom desk. People who savor variety of services, privileges and convenience would go to the DoCoMo desk. The fully charged youth would go to Virgin Mobile desk. And lastly for people who would like to explore everything, there is MNP desk. If Abhishek Bachchan sees such a Tata Trio shop in Mumbai from his car window .........he would certainly say ----- "Ahh.... What an Idea, Ratan Ji"

I saw MTS handsets in evey shop in my locality in chennai the day BEFORE it was launched. On the day of MTS launch, every shop had a MTS sign board with the shop name written and every shop sold handset and sim on the launch date. Ask MTS how to plan. Except that they choose CDMA... One more doubt.. What are the rate cutters in Tata Docomo for? Some one had mentioned in earlier posts.. May be right from launch, only if v use rate cutters, tariff is 1paise/sec. Dear Mr. Sonam Kumar, Don't worry about that. I just called up a friend of mine in Chennai who is as desperate as we are to get the SIM. According to him it takes 3 to 4 days from the date of launch for the SIM to reach your local market vendor. He told me that two days after the launch, selected vendors and the distributor will be invited for a meeting cum party. The next day after that, SIMs will be available with at least the select vendors and a week after that they will be sold by all vendors. For instance, In Kerala it was launched on 25th, so meeting will be held on 27th and SIMs should be available on 28th. This information is not authentic!! Comments are welcome.
