Who is MTNL trying to fool?? ( i hope they dont name it 'The Fool Free Plan.... .) how can surfing be free when u have to pay for every byte of data that u download? i guess if u use it for one hour it will cost u about Rs. 40 ( assuming u download 20 MB of data in an hour), so in my opinion its perhaps the costliest broadband plan currently available in india......and they call it free?? Only fools would take up such a plan. When would these broadband companies realize that as long as there are data caps & all sorts of limits, nobody is gonna get fooled into the so called 'Free Broadband Access', in fact the whole concept of having data caps is against the positive sides of broadband, if you have more speed, u download more data and hence u need to pay more, so where is the broadband at dialup rates, i mean any data cap of less than 10 GB is just ridiculous. and to hell with '256k = broadband' in this age, i dont think it makes any sense calling anything below 1Mbps download speed,Broadband. i have a friend in UK who told me that for 80 pounds (Rs. 2550 approx.) he could get a 4 Mbps connection wihout any download caps and all, in fact he had'nt even heard of terms like 'download caps' and 'charge/ MB'

I don't doubt the perfotmance of the device. But spending 14k for a card that supports max 144kbps knowing that ev-do is not far... I guess each to his own. 31148[/snapback] Excuse me, do u actually get 144Kbps surfing speeds through the Sierra card?? if i m not mistaken the maximum possible data tranfer speed between the modem in any of the RIM handsets and the desktop PC is 115 Kbps (due to cable limitations??), but the modem can connect to the RIM's CDMA data network at 144 Kbps. So does that mean that the Sierra wireless card removes that limitation, and allows you actual surfing speeds of 144 Kbps(approx.) on your laptop? also i would like to know that if there's anyway that i could get actual 144 Kbps speeds on my desktop?? of course one way to do that would be to get a PCI to PCMCIA adapter and use the Sierra card on the destop PC, but ......c'mon u could get an entry level PC for 14K nowadays + the adapter will cost extra, so i agree with u, going 4 a Sierra Card just for 144Kbps would not be wise. Is there any other way to get an actual download speed of 144 Kbps(or near about that, considering the performance of the data network) on my destop PC using my LG RD 5130?? and where can i get more information about EVDO??

how can this be? aren't all RIM phones supposed to support the same speed (115kbps)?? that means 2 samsung phones should also aggregate to 230 kbps and not 460kbps. am i right?

I got the 5130 just 15 days ago, mainly for surfing purposes. But the phone is already acting up. Since 3 days i can't hear any rings when there's an incoming call. The R World ringtones don't 'play' either. Very low or no volume while viewing news or any other multimedia content of R World............Damn. The caller's voice through the small speaker is loud and ok. Is this a ringer problem or the external speaker problem? The service centre guy in my town says that the ringer needs to be changed and the ringer is in short supply, so he can't tell when can he get the appropriate one. HELP!
