  1. Dot Issues Notice To Bharti

Yeah, I don't see what the fuss here is all about. But WTF is Bharti getting out of it.... It could simply use an asterisk in place of # Reliance already allows it's prepaid calling cards (India Card and World Card) on it's Post-paid subscribers. Just that it doesn't use # .. it uses *xxx Again, what's this fuss about ..... silly things !
  2. Evdo Status

    I completely agree with kesav.
  3. All about Nokia 6235

ok.. but even that LIVE Aajtak is for Rs. 15 per launch ... can you launch it just once ... and keep it running all day long. (or does it stop, once it has run for a while) ?
  4. It's a matter of choice or style .. which you don't (or can't !) realize. Learn the difference between a pimp and a connoisseur. (hope i spelled connoisseur, correct!)
  5. Airtel, Orange, Bpl Below Standards

Sau Pheesadi Sach (Transalation: Hundred Percent Truth) Solah Aane Sach (Translation: 16 Annas True). GALI GALI MEIN SHOR HAI AIRTEL, HUTCH CHOR HAI (Translation: STREET STREET HAS NOISE AIRTEL, HUTCH ARE THIEVES)
  6. Evdo Status

I hope someone answered this question. Is LIVE Aajtak available on this phone via EVDO? Is the LIVE Aajtak available all over India or only in areas where EVDO is launched? Don't have a rifle .... but wholehearted support you. That b*stard.

  9. RUIM Slot in Nokia 6235

Yeah .... like telling Voldemort about horcruxes is not bad. But telling him how to make them is bad. ------ If you didn't understand, what I said above, probably you don't need to. But just to tell you: Voldemort could convert your Nokia 6235 in a pineapple. Beware.
  10. Coming Soon: Choose Your Power Provider !

Ok. give 3 sites, where 1000 MW plus Hydel power plants could be set up in Maharashtra !!! And further u know the trouble with hydel power: they often needs large areas to be submerged .... you've heard of Sardar Sarovar (narmada) & Tehri !!! Only nuclear power, coal or natural gas can provide large amounts of power. We have none -- imports aren't that cheap. Power from Thorium is atleast 40 years away .... or under real miracle, 25 years away ! That's why it's IMPORTANT for us that URANIUM IMPORTS become a feasible option for us. The India-US nuclear treaty is VERY IMPORTANT. The bad news is ... it's seems to be lapsing. China, off course has a ton of reasons to oppose the deal. But an energy-deficit India if DEFINITELY NOT GOOD NEWS FOR THE WORLD. We'll end up selling SOFTWARE & BPO SERVICES and buying up HUGE AMOUNTS OF NATURAL GAS (OR CRUDE OIL) ... till we can pull it. It's in WORLD'S INTEREST to open up URANIUM MARKETS to India (.... China is a notable exception. If off course, gains little by letting India access to cheap energy). USA, EUROPE, RUSSIA, rest of world ... ALL GAIN. The silly US Congress doesn't see it. Silly People.
  11. Copper Futures ! - China In Mess

China's State Reserve Bureau, thru it's trader Liu Qibing, shorted as much as 200,000 to 600,000 tonnes of Copper Metal on London Metal Exchange. Most of the shorted metal was at $ 3,300 per tonne ... entirely making a naked bet that, the price would fall, leading to windfall profits. On the contrary, the price rose to it's all time high of $4,300 per tonne, as of Nov 19. If price sustains at that level or higher ... till DECEMBER 21, CHINA COULD END UP LOSING $ 300 MILLION OR MORE. Naturally, some sort of panic has set up ... with China's SRB rushing Copper to Shanghai warehouses for auction sale in an attempt to reduce prices. But, speculators don't believe China has sufficient copper to meet it's commitments. China needs to be able to ship over 200,000 tonnes of copper to LME approved warehouses by DECEMBER 21. (or alternatively, buy up the metal at the Current Historically High Prices from international market, to meet it's commitments). The huge amounts involved has led to speculation, that CHINA MIGHT DEFAULT ON IT'S OBLIGATIONS. There is surely, a lot of fun happening in the international copper markets these days. Not far from the excitement of last overs of a cricket match. Just that real money is involved here.
  12. Change Your Username

Annish: I suggest IceGurl and if you agree, we'd be well oncourse to making this www.Gurlweb.in Arun: Gurlweb.in will make more commercial sense, than rimweb... I can bet about it.
  13. Coming Soon: Choose Your Power Provider !

Ya, in Delhi as well Reliance & Tata haven't done much to write home about .... but well that's the retail distribution part. (a separate problem). A bigger problem is attracting investment into Power Production in the first place. Reliance Energy drummed up big hoo-hulla for Dabri power plant ... but it's hardly seen moving ahead. Apart from building the financial case for a setting up power plants ... another big problem facing the sector is the LACK OF FUEL. THERE IS NO COAL !!!! NO GAS !!! NO URANIUM !!! NOT MUCH HYDEL POWER POTENTIAL !!! India is easily heading for an ENERGY NIGHTMARE. In my view, this sector faces problems substantially greater than other infrastructure. Telecom: probably the only sunrise sector, where hopes are highest. The only sector which could claim above average marks. Roads: NHAI led Golden Quadrilateral & N-S, E-W corridors have sure made some progress .. though hardly anything dramatic. Probably, average performance. Airlines: Next best to telecom. Private operators have done well to boost traffic, bring down fares ... but airports are already hitting capacity. Fresh investment feasible, but has plenty of hurdles. POWER: COMPLETE CR*P. You have Dabhol to show for an Example. Dabri is another Example. Low coal stocks across NTPC, SEB plants across the country is showing. POWER IS ARGUABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL THE SECTORS .... and unfortunately has the WORST Report Card.
  14. Coming Soon: Choose Your Power Provider !

Introducing competition in retail power distribution is much much more complicated than telecom. (or atleast wireless telecom). Retail power distribution is really .... "natural monopoly" ! Regulation is necessary. Whatever the solution be ... power sector in India is the crappiest of all. I am not sure, if it's best to fix the retail side first (... that people pay for the power they use) .... or just let private players produce power and sell to big users, edging out the SEBs out of their profitable big customers (Industries etc.). But this should be considered atleast. Otherwise, it seems very difficult to make an investment case for private producers to invest in power sector. And SEBs are in no position to commit offtake of power produced (their shabby financial state). eg. Dabhol should've been allowed to sell power to anyone and everyone (whoever it can find), at a price of it's choice (or the customer's choice) .... but NO purchase guarantees from MSEB, state govt. or central govt.
  15. LG RD 6230 launched !

btw .... Does ANY phone offered by reliance allow access to WAP sites. I have never-ever used WAP ..... though, I have used Google, Yahoo search etc. using R-surf. Is that also called WAP. (If not, then in what category does R-surf fall into). And what could be the commercial / technical reason for reliance not offering WAP access?
  16. I never said, "I" am going to do. (Though, I am always open to negotiate.. the PRICE) But, it's true P*RN has a big market in India. And everyone knows that ... I don't have to argue the truth of that statement.
  17. LG RD 6230 launched !

Yeah .. in something like this FM Radio should have been there. Would have made things easier, when you justify the price tag.
  18. ****** ... finding ways like this to make video conferencing popular I used the service ... it's good. But they should find better ways, for publicity ! (--- may i humbly suggest a strip tease show over video-conference. I am sure they will find customers in huge numbers ---)
  19. Bsnl/mtnl May Have To Share Infrastructure

So, BSNL & MTNL are already providing DSL for people like you. I am NOT against DSL as a technology ... or if it makes sense commercially for BSNL or for users like you ... It's abosutely GREAT. Do it by all means. Just that, the fuss that just by letting private operators use BSNL local loops is going to have a dramatic effect, is illusion. The effect is so tiny, that none of the telecom players really demanded the access. It's Baijal who's so fond of it .... that he's been pushing. And I don't see the logic there. I really don't have internet access at home right now (use office) ... and neither am i crazy about wireless internet only. (it actually is costly right now). I'd probably use MTNL dial-up, at home, when I do. MY EMPHASIS ON WIRELESS SOLELY BECAUSE "MOST" INDIANS DON'T HAVE COPPER LAID TO THEIR HOUSE. ONLY SOLUTION FOR THEM IS WIRELESS. AND ONLY WIRELESS HAS POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A MAJOR DIFFERENCE IN INTERNET PENETRATION (IN INDIA). NEITHER DIAL-UP INTERNET NOR DSL CAN HAVE THAT LARGE AN IMPACT. (and for Broadband, the huge amount people will have to use webworld/PCO type shared service).
  20. Dot Seeks Dilution Of Trai's Role

Airtel and Hutch can be thanked only for Rs. 16 per minute tariffs, before Reliance entered the market. TRAI has also been instrumental in bringing down ADC, which reduced STD tariffs a lot. TRAI has ensured that political instuments don't come to play (such as current minister Dayanidhi Maran is trying to do, by reducing TRAI). Video Data Services are already being provided by CDMA and GSM. But CDMA provided services are (1) Superior, (2) Cheaper, (3) Better Content, (4) Being used by Common Man. GSM technology is already being phased out of Europe ... being replaced by WCDMA .. which is a derivative of CDMA technology. The ultimate 3G standard EVDO is a CDMA standard. CDMA data services area rage in Japan and Korea (which are at the cutting edge of Mobile Data Services), all over the world. Reliance has successfully replicated, the Korea / Japan model in India. Old-technology GSM players are now charging astronomical charges for EDGE technology, which has completely failed to take-off in India. The future of telecom sector is clearly being demonstated trends and numbers. Clearly in favor of CDMA, the spectrum efficient technology.
  21. LG RD 6230 launched !

Wow 6230 looks very very good. Just one prob seems ... BREW .. Does Reliance give all r-world videos on BREW platform too (or is it only on Java). I'd love to watch videos on 6230. MP3 is also a great feature... Better 256 MB could also be used to save more video songs.
  22. Dot Seeks Dilution Of Trai's Role

TRAI is vital to keep Political Interference out of Telecom Industry, is beyond anyone's doubt. You are enjoying what-ever you are (including 250 rs. internet), is thanks to Reliance / Tata / BSNL. Reliance has been central to the growth of telecom industry. 3G licenses should be given by open bidding ... and everyone should be allowed. No exclusivity of existing telcom players, as demanded by COAI. The future of data services (esp. video data services) seems to decided in favor of CDMA operators. GSM is declining technology .. with not much future left. Subsequent to our discussion, this is very clear. For facts, read All past posts.
  23. Awesome Optical Illusion

Optical Illusion ! ... I am feeling as if I am blind. Or atleast less bright. Or maybe, both. What should I see in the picture ... it seems to me that A & B squares are shaded differently and look differently. Did not understand this BAAP of all illusions !
  24. Think Different

I prefer pics and vids. Ok, it's more of content that matters, rather than the app. You can, keep doing your app, as long as you wish .... just send me all the useful "content" by email !
  25. Think Different

Ahhh .. still stuck with a lousy mp3 softare. Do some P*RN application ... which has some MARKET VALUE.
