Evdo Technology Which Gives Upto 2.4mbps Connection
SexyGurl replied to city02's topic in Reliance Communications
In Delhi too it was being tested several months ago. (In Nehru Place). EVDO is already active in DAKC, Mumbai. -
I like LG 5130 ... great value for money .... at 3800 bucks. Go from Mercedez to Fiat .... but getting a cycle, looks awkward to me. Chinese are replacing their cycles with cars ... too bad, if Indians start replacing cars with cycles !

India to beat China in 2 yrs: Mukesh Ambani Press Trust of India Posted online: Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 1107 hours IST Updated: Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 1201 hours IST Bangalore, October 29: Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani today said India will overtake China in GDP growth rate within the next two years. "I believe that over the next two years...2006 or 2007, India will surpass China in terms of its annual GDP growth rate and consistently maintain that", he said in an address on the occasion of the 32nd foundation day of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. This would be a historic moment, he said. "For 15-20 years, we have been talking only about China. I am telling you by the time you enter the real world (professional career), India has absolute potential to surpass China. Not only that, over the next two decades...(India will be ahead of China)". Noting that when he joined Reliance around 25 years back, opportunities for young people were limited, he said: "in 25 years, things have transformed and today, India is becoming one with the world. "You can switch your career paths without a sense of anxiety," he told the students, pointing out that he, a chemical engineer, built infocomm business in the year 2000. "There is excitement in the air", Ambani, who is the chairman of board of governors of IIMB, said. "Unlimited opportunities loom large on the horizon. That does not mean that the path ahead is easy. In fact, it's going to be full of challenges," he cautioned and exhorted the students to continuously renew knowledge and competency, nurture a global mindset and learn to adapt to different social and cultural environments.

I did the 30,000 towers to cover all of India, long back (in some thread). Can't type all that again ! But here are the facts going into that calc: 1. Area covered by a single CDMA tower = 110 sq.km. 2. Total land area of India = 3,200,000 sq.km. Give some concession for the fact that in big cities, it's the no. of simultaneous calls supported ... rather than area covered, that important. (eg. Delhi with an area of 1400 sq. km. has much more than just 14 towers ... I think it's close to a 100). In rural areas, highways, simultaneous calls are usually not a constraint .... it's the range of the CDMA towers (so that signal is powerful enough at the edge of the covered range). 3. Reliance phase I had about 3000 towers ... Phase II will increase it to about 8500 towers (so, actually less than 10,000). -------- An unrelated, but important fact is that .... it's not just the cost of CDMA towers, but also new optic fiber network needed to go in currently uncovered areas. Phase II does not lay any new optic fiber ... they are just setting up more towers along the already existing 80,000 km optic fiber network. With all 5700 cities covers and 2/3rd of the villages covered ... most of us will be in-range almost always, where ever we go. (unless you go for hunting in Satpura forests .... or if you are a smuggler, crossing the Thar Desert in a camel-back). !!! Probably, a significant no. of villages in Bihar, MP etc. will be left out ... so, people going to back to their ancestral homes in those areas, may find no network, even after phase II. Uttar Pradesh, as far as I heard, is going to be pretty well covered (nearly all). .. so would be Maharashtra, Gujarat (95%), southern states ... and the entire north-west Punjab etc.

Reliance Life to invest Rs 1,500cr for new plant Our Corporate Bureau / Mumbai November 2, 2005 The facility may start contract manufacturing of bulk drugs and secondary research in biotech. Reliance Life Sciences is planning to set up a manufacturing facility for recombinant proteins and cell therapies in Navi Mumbai, with an estimated investment of Rs 1,500 crore spread over a three-year period. The Reliance Industries’ group company aims to set up dedicated centres for high-end research and manufacturing of speciality therapeutic products. The facility, which is likely to come up near the group’s earlier acquired Nocil facility near Ghansoli, is expected to be commissioned by mid-2006. This facility will also venture into contract manufacturing of bulk drugs and secondary research in biotechnology, sources closed to the development told Business Standard. The company would mainly focus on embryonic and haematopoietic stem cells, skin and tissue engineering, plant tissue culture, molecular diagnostics, biofuels and monoclonal antibodies, among others. It would also focus on therapies in the treatment of thalassemia, leukaemia and sickle cell anemia through stem cell research. The Mukesh Ambani-controlled company is also setting up an animal house to conduct regulatory toxicology and preclinical efficacy studies for cell-based therapies. The company had earlier set up a stem cell-enriched umbilical cord blood repository. The repository offers a sibling donor programme and storage of stem cells from umbilical cord blood from voluntary donors. ---------------------------------------------------- 1500 crores !!!! as-if it's loose change This is jus' Oil Magic @work. Jamnagar Refinery got built on the back of Hazira Petrochemical complex. Infocomm got built on the back of Jamnagar Refinery. Oil Exploration and overseas takeovers, got built on the back of Jamnagar Refinery. Paisa-Hi-Paisa .... MUJHKO BHI LIFT KARA DE. MUJHKO BHI MUKESH AMBANI BANA DE

Theoretically, with 10,000 CDMA towers (which reliance plans to have by end of Phase II), reliance should be covering about 33% of the entire area of India. (I am including the areas of Assam, J&K etc. also in the total area, even though reliance does not offer in these areas). The Percetage area covered in the 20 circles should be around 40%. Covering each and every square inch of India, is quite far still. (Btw... even till today each and every inch in USA, Europe etc. is not covered .... though I believe over 95% of the population would be covered). Reliance would need about 30,000 towers to cover each and every square inch of India ... including, places like ALL of the uninhabited areas in the Thar desert (Rajasthan), Dense (and maybe uninhabited) forests like Satpura in MP etc., places in J&K which maybe completely inaccessible by land (eg. some of ladakh). Still, Reliance would be covering about 70-75% of the population of India, by the end of the Phase II. They would be covering all the 5700 cities and towns (from present 4000), and 2/3rd of the villages i.e. 4 lacs out of 6 lacs. + 95% of National Highways + 85% of railway network. (all these nos. are based on my rough calculations ... therefore subject to errors. I have a fair confidence in stating that the error band is within 15% of the figures stated -- not too good .. haan ) EDIT: Needless to add, even BSNL does not cover each square inch of India ... don't have published data for bsnl ... .but I'd be surprised, if they cover more than 40% of the area or 60% of the population as of today.

Reliance Infocomm has already covered as many as 4,000 cities and towns of which more than 3,700 are small towns or semi-urban settlements. In addition, the company's network covers 120,000 of the five lakh villages in the country.

Surprising ...if you have indeed bought the set, why do you hesitate to pay a paltry Rs. 100 per month .... the GSM operators are just about thowing away the EDGE services for free .... because there are hardly any takers ==> No one seems to buy up a costly edge-enabled set. Don't you want free Aajtak etc. (or other videos, if they have any) ... (though, reliance offers the same thing at Rs. 25 per month)
-
I know, it easily looks fantasy, as of now, for India to reach upto China. But reliance is surely different. Atleast I would "choose" to put Mukesh Ambain in visionsaries, rather than fools. (See the building up of Infocomm). Though, I agree, it's just my personal opinion.
-
EDGE is practically non-existant even in Delhi-Mumbai .... leave alone the rest of India. (.... becoz, edge sets are way too costly compared to CDMA sets or non-EDGE gsm sets (but gprs-enabled). ) GSM operators have installed EDGE, just for the propaganda value that ... "They too can stream video-on-demand" like R-world. (Otherwise, Reliance would have started singing "Only service to support Videos"). As you know, the more commonly used GPRS technology (in GSM) cannot support videos, only plain text and photos.

Essar has been very well in limelight ... for their cr*p Management. How to fail in everything you do ... Learn it from Ruias Comparison of Essar to Ambanis is laughable to me .... though I won't raise too much of an eyebrow, on comparison between Tatas and Essar (Ruias). Consider this: 1996: Both Essar and Reliance declare setting up 9 million tonnes refinery at jamnagar .... Reliance project got off to a flying start .... Essar struggled. Then reliance expanded the capacity to 27 million, and still managed to get it running by 1999. Essar: Nothing, except capital blocked in a half-done refinery. The poor project is still half-done. Meanwhile, mukesh ambani announced increasing the capacity from 27 million tonnes to 60 million tonnes by 2009. Essar hopes to get it's lousy 9 million project start by then. All that they have earned is blocked crores of rupees, in a project .... that's yielding nothing. ----- Retail - petroleum sector: Complete disaster for Essar. They are now advising their retail outlets to discourage sale of petrol and diesel, because, their cost of selling imported product is more than the price earned by the outlets. Reliance has earned a 7.7 pc retail share from the PSUs (Indian Oil etc.). -------- Telecom: Was another disaster for Essar, when it operated in the Delhi circle ... till hutch took over the active management of affairs. ----- Steel : Was also running huge losses .... till the current windfall in the Industry, is bringing in some money. I'd surely advise Essar group to rename it logo " A Positive a++itude" to "A f*kking a++itude". It'll better reflect reality. ...................................... Mukesh Ambani's Reliance is so-UnIndian .... that kind of success is hardly seen in any corporate in India .... Tatas, Birlas, Ranbaxy, PSU majors, ICICI, ... sure, many good but nothing really be called an INDIAN CHAEBOL .... except RELIANCE. Infosys, maybe an exception, though. But Reliance is still ahead. But still, it's a sorry state .... Only 2 corporates from India, have really stood up in the world .... rest are unfortunately, still non-entities, as far as the world scales are concerned.

the best way to find out is to use the lights to our advantage, like linuxguy had said -shine a torchlight. ... or use a brick, like bhutes had said. (I wonder, why I never get credit for my ideas ... huh!)

I can't help admiring Mukesh Ambani ...

May I request you all to post here, the places (eg. Hotel addresses), where you did find 2-way mirrors. I would also like to check 2-way mirrors, though from the other side. Though, I am still short of money to buy a camera phone. ---- ICEMAN: You shouldn't have spoilt the parliamentary decorum of rimweb, by your obscene posting or atleast, posting something which excites obscenity ... in ordinarily respectable people. And anyway, the test you suggest is to technically complicated. Here's an easier one: Throw a stone or a brick at the mirror. If it doesn't break, it's a 2-way mirror .. otherwise a normal one.

Don't know abra-babra .... whatever it is. The only thing that I am afraid of is .. my mobile no. which I left on rimweb. I dread that it will come back to haunt me later .... just imagine, I grow up into a big underworld don .... and the s*kking poolice-wallahs get my identity from rimweb (and reliance) ... and catch me just because of this mistake. !!! I think as a policy, all rimweb data servers must be burnt after every 1 year .... to protect people's privacy and identity. (and this should be by law). I don't want any restrictions on my future "occupations" just because my identity being public, due to rimweb. ----------------------- DISCLAIMER: I do not mean anything close to whatever, I said above. I am a perfectly law-abiding innocent citizen, who has hardly ever killed an ant (except by mistake). Anything I write on rimweb, or anything implied by what I write, is meaningless, cr*p, and I disown it. Anything I post on rimweb, cannot be used against me in a court of law. You are even forbidden to file a case against me, on the basis of what I write on rimweb. If you do so, I might be compelled to give up my policy of "not killing ants". (The last sentence is a WARNING, stricter than a simple DISCLAIMER)
-
Just joking, yaar. There are many angry souls on rimweb, who would readily want to kill me .... for my really crooked jokes. But I sit happily and safely away from any "physical harm"
-
a little on the doubtful side though ----------- Your doubts are valid .... you are trying to argue Netscape or Sun's case on a Microsoft forum or vice-versa. I feel good for you ... that you are safely away from anyone causing you physical harm atleast.

1499 for LG 2430 is quite good .... LG 2430 also support text-only applications of R-world. I likely the visual look & feel of the phone. Much better than wasting big money on tata-shata

I just read a new upcoming scheme from TATA. Just buy the handset .... and no need to purchase a recharge voucher, if you just need incoming. FOR 2 YEARS ... one need not buy any monthly recharge vouchers !!!!! I think it's a very good scheme for those who need only incoming facility. With a Rs. 2000 rupee handset ... and no subsequent recharge voucher purchases ... it means about 2000/24 = Rs. 80/- per month (incl. handset cost and service cost). I think all people with drivers will buy one for their drivers... Even Rickshaw pullers who roam around near my home could keep one. ... It's a pain to go out from house and search for one. One could just ring one and call it to one's house. Same for the household maid and the sweeper. No future liability in terms of monthly rentals is a great thing. It's just like buying a radio set .... and using it for free, there after. Other telecom operators should also follow it. (Actually, I had already suggested this type of scheme, even before TATA actually came out with it) !

I think we could exchange our ears ... I can't understand what someone is saying on a GSM handset .... scre-wed up one my interviews ... when I foolishly decided to take it on a GSM mobile set. In a separate case ... I was talking to my "potential wife" .... she asked: what're your hobbies? I said: Photography. She heard: por-no-graphy Enough said.
-
Oh yeah ... ain't it amazing that I continue to live on earth as a normal person .... without EVER "heard"-ing of multiplexing ? I honestly think they should try to provide broadband through TELEPATHY. It has potential to provide mobile BROADBAND. No?

It's a waste of money to buy a medium (or even upper) range handset of Reliance .. which is not R-world enabled. Unfortunately, both most lower and medium range Nokia's are not R-world enabled. But before you buy a non-R-world enabled Nokia ... just take a look at the applications currently on in R-world (use a colored handset ... atleast LG 5130 and upwards). -- currently on, in videos: Aishwarya, Amitabh, Kishore Kumar, Lata mangeshkar songs and film clippings. It find all very lucrative. Without R-world though, most Nokia's are quite competitive on features as well as price. Voice is generally way too clear, compared to anything in GSM ... so within CDMA, generally all handsets give clear voice clarity.

I won't say anything to you, redshift .... becoz, I'm immensely thankful to you, for getting me my Hull e-book ... which was very very important for me. But incidentally, I did go and look up into google, immediately after writing that piece ... The first article that google pops out .... incidentally .... mentions all the problems .. which I stated. How signal is to be saved from step-down ... problem of hell-high voltages in the electricity grids etc. AND, it does not answer the third problem, I mentioned .. the problem of upload using an electricity grid. It's hardly close to happening in US .... maybe the Indian farmer's next generation will be able to see P*RN movies over broadband, before going to the fields ... not the current generation atleast.
-
I am **** lazy to google out "internet over power lines" .... it's so much simpler to "imagine" how data could be transferred over POWER LINES !!! Just wonder what would be the physics behind it ! Copper cables (telephones) make sense ... electric pulses carry the modulated signal. (the carrier could be the frequency or amplitude of the pulse ... or well maybe other characteristics used for encoding the signal) Optic fibers also make sense ... encoding the signal into frequency, amplitude etc. of light waves and sending them across. POWER LINES: !!! WTF. Something carrying electricity at 110,000 volts. How the F*KK is it going to carry a signal with it ! Even a power line carrying 220 volts is going to be strange. Probably one would need to pass the incoming electricity through electronic demodulators ... to extract the signal from the electricity .... and then pass on the actual electricity to the household ... to do the real electricity work. I don't know ... what F*KK will need to be done at power substations of electrical utilities ..... and even further .... the interface of data servers to the key points on the Electricity grid. ----- the sort of mingling of 110, 000 volts coming from the thermal power plants, nuclear plants and hydel plants .... encoding that high voltage electricity with the signal (i.e. data from internet servers). I again, don't know, how the F*KK are things going to be handled at step-down transformers !!! ---- I don't think signal could be saved and be allowed to move, even after the step-down has taken place. My god -- this is mind boggling --- how does one handle routing --- or would it work like an ethernet ... everybody gets all the data ... just pick, what's addressed to you. NOOOOOO... this doesn't work ... can't work. And WTF for the upload .... there is no electricity moving from the households to the substations. I bet two hairs of my moustache ... that Internet thru POWER LINES IS NOT FEASIBLE. IT'S SURELY SOME APRIL FOOL CRAAAP. FOOLS, ALL OF THEM.

No there isn't. But RUIM (equivalent to a SIM), is there in some handsets.
