You should take Reliance to Court for causing un-necessary mental harassment. -------------------------In lighter vein-------------------- You could jump off a 5 storey building .... and claim in the court that because of the MENTAL AGONY caused by this letter, you conceived suicide .... and RELIANCE is to blame for it. Demand a HEFTY compensation from Reliance, for wrecking you happy life. Use the opportunity, this letter brings to you, man. DON'T WASTE THIS GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO .... AH .... gEt RiCh QuIcK

split files are cr*p ... I have about 1 gb of porn images, videos etc. which I would very much like to park on the internet somewhere Using split files, I'll have to split it into 100 split files (atleast), and then send 100 emails ... and to get back my data ... download 100 files from my email attachments !!!! B*LL-SH*T .... anyone gotta more practical way for parking a 100 MB zip file on the web ??? Easy to upload and download. I don't have a problem with bandwidth ... my company has around 2mbps lines ... but I'd rather that our nice IT department, don't get the pleasure of seeing my "treasure". (Don't suggest CD option .... my treasure keeps updating, changing. I can't write a new CD for every little new piece of treasure)

Actually, it's not that bad for Tata either: For every non-Tata phone which calls such a free-incoming mobile ... .Tata would earn 30 paise per minute (as inter-connect). For if monthly incoming calls to the phone are 100 minutes, Tata earns Rs. 30/- a month from such a subscribers. And it doesn't cost a penny to provide this service .... the handset is paid in full by the customer. The network is anyway lying idle ... and may as well be used for incoming calls from other operators. + if the incoming-only subscribers improves his economic status in future, he/she may start buying talktime vouchers .... so more revenue. In the worst case, if the incoming-subscribers doesn't even get any incoming calls ..... Tata doesn't care. It didn't pay for the handset ... so, for it, such a dummy subscribers, doesn't exist. I don't know why, Reliance is not launching such a scheme.... (No matter, if it attaches high calling tariffs for calling from this phone eg. Rs. 3 per minute local and Rs. 6 per minute for STD ... etc.). But incoming-rental should be zero.
-
I suddenly feel, I am paying too much .... for my actual mobile needs. I paid about 7500 bucks for 13 months of owning my LG 5130 (including 4999 for the handset). So, it comes to 7500/13 = Rs. 580 I practically use just Incoming and R-world. The cost looks large. Even if I continue using same phone for another year .. and keep buying 150 vouchers ... it'll be Rs. 9150 in 24 months. So, 9150 / 24 = Rs. 390 per month. Counting Rs. 90 per month for incoming only (i.e. at Tata rates) ... 300 per month looks large, just for R-world. !

I wonder if Rimweb is fast converting into a humor fourm Earlier I read the topic of internet connectivity thru power lines ! And now .... "Reliance beats Airtel" .... I was near certain, this was sarcastic humor..... but no,... here is someone who really doesn't know the numbers involved in the telecom industry.. Anyway, just for info .... Airtel added 6.54 lac mobile customers .... adding the 45,000 landlines in the above message .. it's about 7 lac of total subscribers. Reliance's total subscribers addes being only 4.01 lac .... is wayyyy short of Airtel. Though, what really is the big question is ..... how come Airtel driving so well these days..... with regularity. Reliance's performance is somewhat lacklustre. Tata though, seems to be coming up, even though struggling due to late entry.

I honestly laughed, just at reading the topic. I can't exit this topic, with less than a smirk. Kamine .. april fool banane ki koshish kar raha hai

I read it in the Hindustan Times (Delhi Edition) .... today. I'll be surprised, if it's not listed on tata indicom website yet... though, it may be up in a day or two. (haven't checked) --------------------------------- Ok.. Here's the copy-paste from TOI web edition: NEW DELHI: Aiming to capture higher market share in mobile telephony, Tata Teleservices on Sunday said it plans to launch Nonstop Mobile that offers unlimited calls for two years from the date of activation. "We are planning to provide incoming calls free for two years, non-stop, without a single recharge. The product will be available on a wide range of mobile handsets, providing all consumers choices within their lifestyle and budget," a Tata spokesperson said in a statement here on Sunday. The company plans to unveil the new scheme during Dusshera. Consumers can then choose to recharge these new mobiles from prepaid vouchers at any point of time, depending on when and how much they need, the spokesperson added... Of course there is no airtime for R-world. And R-world was never comparable to Airtel or Hutch GPRS ... both **** bigtime. But still I think Reliance should give a "DIWALI BONANZA" --- free access to all R-world (E and U applications included) for 24 hours on Diwali I honestly think, it will boost usage of R-world ... If someone has played a game once (even if free), he or she may be more inclined towards buying it sometime (provided he liked it the first time). Same holds true for Movie Videos ... more so, because we can save at most 2 or 3 videos on the handset (actually Kajra-Re type of song may take entire memory space) .... so we (I mean the buyers), would keep coming back again and again to see off the net ..... Then 7 rupees per launch is costly .... 2 rupees per video would be way too better.
-
I think they are giving some very .... let's say "enticing" movie videos Kajra-Re and all.. Wallpapers, offcourse one can see for free (even though they are under U option). Seven rupees for seeing a video looks costly to me ... but it's very very enticing .... I'm sure, I'll get to "waste" a couple of seven rupees, out of sheer frustration. Mukhvak looks to be a big hit (and luckily, it's free)... It's a big hit in my family. And since I heard couple of outsiders using it too ... It seems to me that it's got a big hit in Delhi atleast (offcourse, Punjab also, very likely).
-
I am lucky to be able to use all the applications, I used before R-world went paid ..... since all of "my applications" are under membership plan only. Nearly all "E" and "U" applications are new (did not exist before April 1, 2005). A notable exception (and which I miss) is NSE quotes. Some, people may be missing webmail ..... I do not.

I don't think RUIM helps at all. RUIM will allow inter-CDMA unification of market .... .why would reliance want to work in a common market with Tata (In fact, if reliance were to move towards RUIM-only handsets, it will help Tata more than reliance). RUIM won't ensure unification of GSM and CDMA handset markets. Reliance should (as it already is) ... work towards Overall Cost of Service -- eg. I count my cost of service, in this way: I bought LG 5130 for 5000 bucks and buy 199 vouchers: Assuming I write off my 5130 in 12 months: Per month = 5000/12 + 199 = Rs. 615 approx. I count my costs like this: Cost of plain vanilla voice & sms = 199 + (200 for handset) = Rs. 400 Cost of R-world = Rs. 215 I bought LG 5130 in the first place because of R-world videos and speaker phone. (other wise I would have bought a 2400 rupee phone) ... and my Overall Cost of service would have been only Rs. 400 The Rs. 215 is just for seeing R-world. ------------------------------------------------ So, for someone wanting just ABCD-type services .. they would buy a Rs. 2000 handset + 149 per month. Overall Cost of Serivce = 2000/12 + 149 = Rs. 310 approx. So, really reliance is offering the Overall Service at Rs. 310 per month to ABCD customers. What do Airtel and Hutch offer: Say a ghisa-pita GSM set is available at Rs. 1000/- Rs. 200 per month as voucher cost. Total cost = Rs. 1000/12 + 200 = Rs. 280/- -------------------------------------------- SOOOOO.... Reliance offers: BRAND NEW SET at a monthly CoS (i.e. Cost of Service) = Rs. 310 Airtel / Hutch offer: SECOND HAND SET + Rs. 50 talktime at a monthly Cos = Rs. 280 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, the question is, does the ABCD customer see value in a BRAND NEW SET .. and willing to pay Rs. 30 per month extra and about 25 minutes of local calls per month less ? The situation has changed since Airtel and Hutch launched the Rs. 200 cards ... becoz earlier they were having Rs. 330 cards at the minimum. So, CoS to ABCD customers was 80+330= 410 MUCH ABOVE RELIANCE ! So, as soon as Airtel / Hutch launched 200 cards, Reliance launched 149 cards ... to reduce the CoS difference between it and them (currently it stands at 280 vs 310). Another issue is a BRAND NEW SET (of Rs. 2000) is expected to last longer than a SECOND HAND SET (of Rs. 1000) ... so that is qualitative factor which ABCD will need to incorporate in their estimate of CoS.
-
I think the 199 scheme has been very successful .. so succesful that hutch and airtel were forced to come out with 200 rupee cards. I think two problems which reliance faces are: 1. The second hand market for gsm handsets is very large (compared to second hand market for reliance sets) ... ABCD would not mind picking up second handsets (even if they don't get the benefit of using reliance's 150 ruppee card, which is still cheapest). 2. Because of replaceable SIM ... gsm handset market is unified (about 75% of the handsets) ... while reliance plays it alone. So, point no. 1 is unlikely to get corrected (in reliance's favor) anytime soon.

I have a second hand DELL LATITUDE CPx Laptop. Some time back the hard disk crashed and the Laptop is uanble to boot. My attempts to reload the operating system have failed. The reason is that the laptop does not recognize the CD drive inserted into the slot of the machine (The inbuilt slot for CD drive, under the keypad). I know, this is hardware failure, and I am in deep trouble. The laptop continues to prompt: "Diskette in Drive 0 Seek Failure". I can use F2 to get into set up and choose from CD, Diskette, HDD or some other options to boot .... even when CD Drive is chosen, the CD is not recognized (It is possible the connection of the drive and the CD slot is not good). BUT, when I connect my CD Drive to the laptop using the 25-pin connector wire (plug-in) .. the laptop does recognize the CD (the CD spins). Unfortunately, even though recognizing the CD, the laptop does not boot from this externally attached CD. My hope is that some configuration in the Dell laptop (possibly using some Dell CDs), would enable the laptop to boot using the externally attached CD Drive. Is there a way out .. or have I lost the system for ever? What could I make the laptop to boot from the external CD?

Number Portability Implementation in India
SexyGurl replied to niket's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
compare R-world to whatever counter-part airtel has it's place (gprs etc.) leave alone airtel, even hutch (though TV curtain ads !!) is no match in data and multimedia services to the capabilities of CDMA. Tata is also CDMA, but it's too new and small to build up to R-world's content. -
Dell Latitude Cpx Laptop - Help Needed
SexyGurl replied to SexyGurl's topic in General Technical Discussion
yeah.. i wonder how much it's undergarments will sell for ! I believe the microprocessor works fine ... but will anyone buy it? Motherboard's gone .... with the motherboard not recognizing the hard disk, dell engineer could not determine, if hard disk was ok or not ... but suspects that the hard disk would also be bad. Apart from them, I have the CD Drive, Floppy drive, 25 pin serial port connector, the adaptor and power cable for the laptop, the battery (but it's in really bad shape ... discharges in minutes, without power on). Do the laptop screens sell (... what rate: 5 rupees a kg? ) I was planning to use it as a service tray costliest service tray -
Yeah... it's all great stuff .. esp. the Hindi Movie Videos. I wish they could put atleast some videos on the "Membership" plan. I bet their "Mukhvak" will be a hit in Punjab (and possibly Delhi too). .... I like the "Laxmi" under ArtiNBhajan. They could post more of Aartis in the Devotional category (and with M payment plan). It looks Reliance has almost silently launched 3G ... without shouting about it at all. In some places (or on some handsets) they are offering live videos ... that is the biggest thing that differentiates 3G from the voice+sms only 2G services. Another I love a lot is the "U" payment plan .... one could see all the pics and listen to all the ringtones .... and unless you save them, it's all FREE :T

Dell Latitude Cpx Laptop - Help Needed
SexyGurl replied to SexyGurl's topic in General Technical Discussion
My beloved laptop left for it's heavenly abode, earlier today, at about 3:46 pm (IST). It spent it last days in the ICU (under supervision of a DeLL engineer), where it demised of Mother-board failure today. I'll be performing the Last Rites tonight at my home. Sympathizers may post condolence messages here. My heart goes out to my poor friend of last 4 1/2 years and to the ton of money, I spent on it. -
Thanks Chirag, It was much needed. I too wanted to PM you for the same. Apparently, good boys always want to do the same things.

1. Try R-world Reset from the handset (though, I'm rather sure, you'd have done it plenty of times, already) ... and this nothing compared to a software reload, which you got done. 2. My second guess is this -> Is this handset given to you by your company or is it personal? Reliance enables R-world for all subscribers (Irrespective of whether they have subscribed to R-world or not .... For post-paid default plan in monthly, while for prepaid it's daily). But on special, request, Reliance disables R-world access to subscribers of corporate accounts.

Is 6255 brew-enabled that's why ... or is it because 6255 is a "high-end" set?? In LG 5130 Aajtak etc. all are still available under membership plan at 25 bucks per month. (same is true for LG 2130 also, which my father has).

Dell Latitude Cpx Laptop - Help Needed
SexyGurl replied to SexyGurl's topic in General Technical Discussion
just got online now.... the funny thing is my regular company laptop also crashed (bad sectors in harddisk .... but offcourse that is being repaired by company folks). Coming to my the problem with my owned laptop: Knowing the importance of native boot media (which ashok told me) .. i'm first betting on getting the operating system up (from the CD), using one of them (preferably the native in built CD drive itself). I inserted the CD drive into the native slot ... it tries to boot .... DOES NOT GIVE "diskette in drive 0 seek failure" (I have set the CD-drive as top boot option). The laptop does recognize that I have inserted the CD-drive in the native slot. It waits for some time (the CD does not spin) .. and then gives a DELL message (I think this message comes from ROM) ... "Try re-inserting the CD-drive .... and restart" The dell engineer will come to fix my official company laptop (to replace the hard disk) ... then I plan to ask him, what can be done with my old system. I wish somehow, the laptop gets to pick the CD from the original CD drive itself ... saves me a lot of more complicated problems (USB / moving hard disks etc.). I follow the other approaches subsequently. (I'll not be online frequently today ... just typing this message fromn a sloppy PC -- which I believe was built in 1950's) .. i know your good question, how did it get the IE and windows on it ! -
So, what's the cost of this patch-panel?

ohhhh ! anyway i better condition my expectations to the possibility of losing the system. but still, what clue tells you that the motherboard has a problem? (or ROM) -- The setup functionality seems to work fine (I guess that would be part of the ROM)
