Dear friends, Reliance Netconnect website mentioned Netconnect prepaid data vouchers. From where, one can get them. I have checked with vendors, they are not available. Will e-recharge with same value, act as Netconnect prepaid data voucher? I have tried recharging with Rs.404, but I got Rs.40 as talk time and nothing like Netconnect minutes. Reliance website is silent on this. The customer_care email id give some nonsense reply to my querry. ynsingh

I use my Relianc LG RD6130 for using netconnect. I have been using it for data connectivity as well as voice calls since long. This time, after seeing the netconnect vouchers on site, I tried it. The result of that I shared with all of you. Usually operators ensure that with one e-recharge voucher, only one kind of recharge can be done. But it seems Reliance has two different vouchers with value Rs.404.00. One is for one year validity with Rs.40 talktime and it is not announced on the website. The other is Reliance Netconnect prepaid data voucher. Another observation, I can see my balance on Netconnect site http://www.rcom.co.in/Communications/rcom/RNetconnect/ecare_balance.htm. It shows core account balance as exactly half of the my main balance in MB, and Nil netconnect balance. ynsingh

Updated : Mtnl Launches 3g Services In Delhi !
ynsingh05 replied to Honest's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I could roam on 3G network of MTNL in Delhi with BSNNL UPE prepaid connection. But there seems to be some problem with signalling gateway. I could make the calls (outgoing), send and receive the SMSs. But when someone dials for me (incoming calls), he gets the message that the number does not exist. The voice quality is good. ynsingh -
For prepaid, there is no rental. The cost is 2 paise/kB (NOT 20 paisa/kB). For postpaid, there are three options; in all of them, 2 paisa/kB is charged while roaming. I have been usinng basic Reliance data plan 60paisa/minute (night 30paisa/minute) without rental and it cost less compared to BSNL. UPE BSNL network is edge and gives slightly inferior speed than Reliance CDMA (May be load on access network of BSNL is more compared to Reliance CDMA). ynsingh

Voip Phone, Is There Any Available?
ynsingh05 replied to kshah's topic in General Technical Discussion
Before procuring VOIP phone, one need to check the signaling supported by your phone and your ITSP (internet telephony service provider). I have tried getting our Ericsson MD110 exchange configured for SIP base VOIP, but it does not have SIP support. It has only H.323 support. Skype phones use proprietary signaling and can only subscribe to Skype services. But SIP does not work if you behind a firewall in a private IP island. Running your own SIP proxy does not make sense unless everyone in the world is registered with it, or it can talk to SIPproxy of some other operator, making it feasible to communicate with others having SIP based phones. So wait, till we have ITSP operations in India. I feel that VOIP, IPTV and Interactive Group communication systems will soon be there. But before all this can happen, our network operators have to migrate to IPv6 supported network providing full QoS support. -
Just a small technical question. When Hutch is being rebranded as Vodafone, the operator id visible on the phones should have been changed to Vodafone while retaining cell-ids as it is. But in UPE, Vodafone has replaced all the cell-ids to Vodafone and the operator id is displayed as Hutch only. Is it is temporary arrangement and withing few days the operator id's visible on phone will be changed to Vodafone and cell-ids will restored to BTS location names.

I had an interesting observation. I am sharing it with everyone. Please inform, if similar observation is true with other handsets also. I have LG RD6130 handset. After complete discharge, when I charge the battery while keeping the phone ON, it takes about 1hours 45 minutes before the display shows complete charge. But if you switch off your phone and charge the phone, the complete charge is indicated after about 2 hours 45 minutes. I am just wondering what could be the explanation? ynsingh

How can this be??? Sounds incredible! For stand by time its ok ...but are you saying that your talk-time increases by 5-6 hours? Sounds almost impossible, as generally phones have a talk time of around 3-4 hours ...so in your case it means you are saying that you get around 8-9 hours!! I dont think any phone gives that kind of talk time ...esp. a CDMA and in a low signal area (as is your case)! Mobile battries are known to charge faster if the phone is kept switched off ...but have never heard that doing so can enable them to accumulate more charge. In my opinion, its always better to charge the battery for sometime (an hr or so at least...) more than the time required to charge it to the maxiumum (should be mentioned in the manual) ...as the batt indicators are not usually very accurate. If you are using the original charger, it should not be a problem as they are supposed to protect against overcharging anyway... Other than this factors like temperature, etc can be a factor. Lower temperatures obviously mean higher charge retention... Also, for li-ion batts, frequent charging is recommened ...rather than charging after the batt is completely discharged. Not very easy to practice ....given the poorer batt life of Reliance handsets.... I think, I have been misunderstood. I have not measured the talk-time or standby separately. For my kind of usage, I get about 5-6hours more. The talk time component in this obviously is not more than 10-15 minutes.

When phone is OFF, one can press any key and display shows the battery status. The status display switches off after some time. I have been observing if you do charging while keeping phone off, the battery provides power for more time. After charging phone to full, while keeping it ON, gives power for less time. I have observed a difference of about 5-6 hours (including standby and talk time both, for low phone usage.) At my location (in IIT Kanpur), the signal for Reliance is not very good, hence even 5-6 hours difference should translate to more in better coverage areas. May be someone can tell the best method to charge the battery, so that we get maximum talk and standby time and also maximize the battery life. ynsingh

In the above mentioned experiment, after the phone indicated full charge in ON positions, it was switched off and then I waited for full charge indication which took additional one hour. My guess is that if you charge phone with empty battery while keeping it swtiched off, it shall take less time, and battery will be charged to more capacity. While charging battery in on state of phone, the battery is not actually charged to full. ynsingh

The solution talked aobut in previous posts is how you can rectifiy and live with previous firmware versions. The software upgrade has be done at LG service center. Actions to be taken when RWorld not ready mentioned by me in previous posts probably avoids the deadlocks in the memory management. ...ynsingh

hi ynsingh!!! did u try doing tht? CAD 28651[/snapback] Yes I have tried it successfully. The Rworld not ready become permanent message in case if you keep on trying again and again without clearing the memory. Ideally, there should be timed (something equivalent of crone process on unix) which should clear the user memory area based on LRU (least recently used) stratedgy. This is the same one which is used on most software architectures which use cache. My research group has used in Brihaspati LMS ver.2.0 successfully (brihaspati.sourceforge.net) ...ynsingh

You can either upgrade the software of phone at LG service center. Another options, download bitpim from bitpim.sourceforge.net use it to browse through your file system in browser. Remove the directory containing .jar files. Restart the phone. It will start working normally. After this whenever you get Rword not ready message reset the Rword and run the clear memory application. The problem should not occurs. ...ynsingh You anyway connect your mobile phone to laptop or desktop for RConnect or for LGsync. You have just have bitpim additionaly. All the remaining thing must be there such as data cable (the same one which you use for Rconnect or LGsync). In bitpim select the appropriate com port and select phone as LG- VX10. The command sets seems to be same for Vx10 and RD2130. It worked for me. BUT THE BEST SOLUTION IS TO UPGRADE THE OPERATING SYSTEM OF YOUR MOBILE AT LG SERVICE CENTER. The fault lies with the bug in previous releases of OS for RD2130. With upgrade you also resolve many other bugs sitting in your mobile's OS. ...ynsingh
