the source of information was a paper ad that was brought out in the state of orissa, in local newspapers. it was brought out by authorised reliance distributors, not reliance web world as such.......customer care is not aware of this but the local webwrolds are.

thats the ruim slot

for all u know this offer may be only in UP east, for the simply reason that they are a new entrant in Up east. Airtel launched services in UP east two months back and such an offer could be an incentive for people of other networks to shift to airtel

the access is definitely wired through ethernet. Optical fibre cables would be used for this regard. This type of a connection is generally called FTTC or fibre to the curb/kerb, wherein optical fibe cables are connected to a building. From that point(which is usually a juntion box) a CAT5 copper cable (very similar to the telephone cable) is provided to the end user. The port to be used to connect the cable is standard ethernet port commonly called the LAN port. These are available for around rs 300 in the market, that is ofcourse if u do not already have one. i think they have already launched it why don't u try calling *334

absolutely right WCDMA is a evolution of GSM towatds 3G, WCDMA phones cannot be used on CDMA 2000 1x networks. Also WCDMA phones are assined the 1900 Mhz bands, CDMA are probobly not going to be alloted the 1900 Mhz which has been reserved under international agreements for IMT 2000 (which is basically 3GSM).. there is a big fight though, only about a week or two back CDMA operators in India viz Reliance and Tata have been demanding a share of the 1900 Mhz spectrum.

Reliance Infocomm's Festive Offer

This is the YEPP player which is being given out for free http://www.samsung.com/in/products/digital...ayer/yp_55h.asp -
The phone does not support data transfer (i.e. R Connect). So finding a data cable would be extremely difficult. The only reason for sale of the data cable could be to share the phone book with the computer!!

You have converted! How did u go about it...

Motorola C131 cannot be used on GSM networks, the SIM card that u r talking about is actually called RUIM card, which is CDMA's equivalent of a SIM card. And yes u can use the C131 one on the TATA Indicom network, but since ur phone is presentlu configured on the Reliance Network, the NAM chip of the phone would need to erased of that infomation. If u have bought the phone (which i presume u most likely have), then go to the folks at TATA Indicom, they'll erase that info and u should be easily be able to use that phone on the TATA network .

i am afraid u r wrong, the bandwidth depends on the band of frequency allotted not on the value of the frequency. And as far as 400 MHz frequency goes, the reliance has been alloted the 800 MHz CDMA band, so all reliance phones have to use the 800 Mhz band....this is not of any technical hinderance

Convert CDMA phone to GSM phone or Vice-versa
kartikeyamishra replied to Deepak's topic in The Lounge
CDMA Phones can never be used on a GSM network... however an alternative is a UIM card (or RUIM) this is nothing but a GSM SIM card with a different name. The CDMA operators, when they issue this, just program this with the network information. So when u roam in another country (or terittory) the visiting network identifies this card as that given by "Reliance" and any call recieved by you is forwarded from Reliance to the Visiting Network. Remeber that this card has to be inserted into a GSM phone. When u make a call, the Visiting Network just keeps a log of that and informs Reliance of the same for billing purposes. In addition to that they charge an additional serive charge for providing the "Roam On To" facility. -
Convert CDMA phone to GSM phone or Vice-versa
kartikeyamishra replied to Deepak's topic in The Lounge
When u change a CDMA phone to a GSM u are changing everything except the Keypad and LCD... every other component is changed... circuitry, antenna, transmitter... so Infact u are not changing but salvaging! CDMA phones otherwise can never be used on GSM networks. They use a completely different protocol for communication. CDMA uses code divsion multiplexing, but GSM uses a combination of frequncy division multiplexing and time division multiplexing.
