Phone Lost / Stolen - How to get it back?
nawalsingal replied to Xyphler's topic in General Technical Discussion
I also lost my S3 on 9/12. I had installed Trend Micro Mobile security but it's of bo help so far. I think the person who got the phone has switched off the radio & using it now. In such a situation, is there any solution? though I have also activated plan B as suggested above but no progress so far. -
When & what special price, Can you give me their Mumbai No.? Please PM me.

@dkaile, I have almost zeroed in on Pioneer 2390 & Rockford R1693/R1653 speakers(Rear, front). Is this OK. Would love your opinion. Though would have preferred CASKA, but is way over budget. Best quote I got for HU was 36K, plus speakers.
-
Go for Pioneer if you want sound quality. I would recommend their top of the line 4390DVD for around 21K (bill+warranty) http://www.pioneer-i...temid=101&id=94 but if budget is low then cheaper options in Pioneer are also available like 3350BT and 2390DVD (around 15K + speakers extra). The VW OE system that they are giving in the Vento with touchscreen, gps navigation etc. is around 30K (seems like a Caska unit) and you can also try that after paying differential price for the GPS that you must be getting free. They are not offering that on Diesel, only on petrol( goodies worth 40K plus 10K corporate discount), but nothing on diesel , though will try to bargain on the unit itself. my brother has bargained for GPS unit , free upgrade, with Polo petrol in Ahmedabad(not bothered about fuel bills, as running will be hardly 500-600 kms a month, to be footed by Co.will be used as alternate to Captiva for domestic chores) Apart from HU, which speakers, Components will be out of budget, hence co-axial one only.

Thanks Kshah, i am getting extended warranty for two years @7831.. For Ritz, this was 6990, hence no major difference. Service is indeed costly@7-10k & no, repeat no service is free. 1st service costs 7 K & second 10K, as per dealer & some owners' feed back. Any suggestion for a nice car audio system this side of 20 K?

Polo in it's diesel avatar is fantastic solid car. Dont go for the petrol as it hardly give a FE of 7~8 in the city. Parts are costly but should not trouble you for the first 4-5 years. They are giving free Navigation based touchscreen system with the Vento and a standalone GPS system with the Polo. You can bargain them to fit you the Navigation based Touchscreen ICE from the Vento into your Polo. Overall I don't see you can go wrong with a Polo Diesel. It's much superior to the Ritz. I myself am considering a VW for the first time in it's Jetta avatar. Edit: Polo diesel trendline is about 6.4L on road and comfortline is 7.1L. @dkaile & Kshah, thanks for your valuable inputs. I agree that their aprts are expensive & service(NONE FREE) is also on higher side, Rs 7-8 K for first & 10k for second, but every 15k kms. I've got a price of Rs. 617700 for trendline, after corporate disc. No other freebies except Original mats & mud flaps. Call it Effect of Maruti strike, of which I am unintended victim. No other discounts, despite bargaining haaaaard . Another reason for choosing POLO is German genes, which i am strongly biased in favor of

@Sumeet, Thanks for suggestion, but I've already stretched my budget from around 5 L to 6.5 lacs, so no possibility of stretching it further & since i'll be using the car mostly as single occupant, boot space is not big concern. Only thing to add is A decent music system. Suggestion on that is most welcome.

OK, any comments on POLO Diesel(Trendline), Planning to buy one. Almost finalised Ritz Diesel, but dropped due to resistance from Kids on looks front. @Dkaile & Ksshah, would love your feedback. Also, suggestions on ICE package (budget around 20K)

I dropped my HTC touch diamond(CDMA)& since then the touch panel is not working properly. Tried hard reset & reloading the ROM but of no use. Went to HTC service centre. They told me that touch panel is damaged & since it comes integrated with display, whole thing needs replacement & estimated expense of4k-4.5K. Can somebody guide how to get it rectified at lower cost or should I replace the handset? TIA

Purchase BB 8830 from Sadik Bhai. Very good handset. One minor issue, i can't get GPS enabled. device gps shows some lines only(BTW, I am using Reliance CDMA & RGSM SIM). though i have installed Google maps2.3.2 & application is showing in the menu, through my pc(Downloaded the file from: http://www.google.com/mobile/gmm/bes.html), yet when starting gps, it indicates either need for data plan or changing the setting of blackberry device. any help in the matter is welcome.

Try Billeo. I/m using this for more than a year. Also saves your card & form info for auto filling Forms. Saves your online shopping receipts & lot more. Find it here: http://www.billeo.com/ Most Important: Its freeeeeeeee. Roboform is another good option, http://www.roboform.com/ , but free version only saves 10 Passowrds, else you have to pay. -
Reliance GSM - Problems ! Problems ! & Problems!
nawalsingal replied to ipkonfig's topic in Miscellaneous
Though I am not a very big Fan of rcom, To be fair with reliance, they have offered connections at throwaway price (most will agree). for 25 bucks, they are offering 900 or 450(depending on location) worth talk time. I thing this offer more than pays for itself. As far as coverage goes, agree to the fact they are only in first year of roll out & coverage is increasing rapidly as is clear from other member's post. Remember the time when we had to pay thru nose for mobile bills. Thanx to Reliance that now mobile telephony is CHEAPEST in world. In markets like US, u have to pay for incoming calls even NOW. So give them a fair time. I am sure they will improve their service. BTW, I cannot activate GPRS on my BB8830 as yet & that is really annoying. Tried every thing, but told-Handset does not support these settings. -

Thanks, these precautions I have already taken and the phone was switched off with the battery removed sepatately. Yes the proof of purchase from eBay is there. Well getting the phone to India might have to wait till somebody is coming, mebbe a coupla months. Well incidentally all my used cell phones I buy from US are able to connect to Reliance network with international roaming, but i cant make calls with those phones. In this case it was a brand new Verizon phone and OTA programming was done for this phone and then it started working and the strange thing is calls could be made. Anyway will go into diagnostics once I get it here. A long wait maybe Thanks for all your advice and help P.s. May need more of ur help once I get the phone here Boringly repetitive: RIMWEB, Always "Happy to Help" Not empty words, concrete Action.

you can enble auto memory cleaning for that. Should do the trick. But for me, battery drain s****s.

Hi Asheet Mixed reactions to 4.5. My experience after installing 3 times: a. Bad ones: 1. Battery drained very fast. 2. Sound clarity reduced. 3. display showed hazy icons. b. Good ones: 1. Docs to go 2. Supports 8 gb Mem Card 3. Voice recorder included, though didn't try for call recording. To top it all, no stability issues. but i'm back to 4.2, definitely due to BATTERY

I fully agree that we should face the reality & should work towards betterment of our country & should not run away when someone shows us mirror. But to show all indians as inhuman & americans/ europeans as kindest some how doesn't cut much ice with me. Those believening in this will do well to recall Abu Gharib & maybe use of nuclear weapons by americans as well.
