No 3G video calling on iPhone 4 in India Source Users in India can make video calls using WiFi, but not over 3G as the application that enables the service has been locked by Apple. The Apple iPhone 4, which is being regarded as the most unique device, is not capable of making video calls over a 3G mobile network despite being a 4th generation smartphone. Users in India can make video calls using WiFi networks, but not over 3G as the application which enables the service is locked by Apple. The Apple spokesperson in India said, "FaceTime, the application that allows video calling on the Apple iPhone 4, is a closed user application that allows people having iPhone or compatible Apple hardware like the iPad 2 and forth generation iPod touch running FaceTime application to have video calling." "3G cannot be used to make these video calls; only WiFi data is supported by the application. The application allows seamless connectivity between other Apple products though," he added. iPhone 4 nevertheless has all the necessary hardware, including a front facing camera and 3G capable quad frequency network band, to allow 3G video calling over the mobile network. Many applications like Frring, Tango me and Oovoo can be used as third party solutions to curb this problem of calling over 3G mobile networks. Along with that, these applications offer both free and paid services and allow cross platform compatibility as well, which means that an iPhone 4 user can call another iPhone, or even another operating system that supports these third party applications. There were some issues related to video calling with Frring but with the new update for the iPhone 4, Frring users on iPhone 4 get to make better quality video calls.

Please Suggest: Samsung Nexus S or Samsung S2
rajanmehta replied to thackervijay's topic in Handset Suggestions
Vijay, since you are coming from Nokia & Spice to the Android World and straight away shortlisted Samsung Nexus S & Galaxy S2 which are supposed to be the very high end category Androids, I was wondering whether that was based on some sound cogent technical/practical reasons aligned with your real (not perceived) needs or just an illusory mental satisfaction to get the latest & best... Money no bar... What i am trying to say is that coming from Nokia & Spice, any decent android for Rs 9-10 K (Like LG Optimus One) will give you a good experience, get drenched in Android World for a few months with your learner's license and by then again the prices of high end androids you mention would have fallen greatly... With some fresh choices... Buy a high end at that time if you really feel the need armed & empowered with the experience... Just an alternative economic consumer buying theory (Inspired by Ahmedabadis to a great extent)... -
Asus launches Eee Pad Memo 3D Honeycomb tablet Source After PadFone concept device, Asus today revealed another Android tablet – Eee Pad MeMo 3D and it comes with 7 inch display. As the name suggests, Eee Pad Memo 3D comes with a glasses-free 3D display and will have Android 3.1. Asus has also put stylus support, which means you can use a stylus and use MeMo 3D as a notepad very similar to what HTC Flyer does. Company will be bundling a Bluetooth handset with the tablet, which will help you in making calls and listening to stuff, which hints that Eee Pad MeMo will be coming with cellular connectivity. Other specifications of the tablet haven't been revealed as of now so is pricing and other details. From Asus: The ASUS Eee Pad MeMO 3D is designed to be an alternative take on the 10″ tablet that is fast becoming a standard size. This portrait-oriented device has a 7″ multi-touch screen that can be used in the usual way with Android Honeycomb applications, but there's also the added twist of stylus support, so users can opt for handwriting input and treat the MeMO 3D much like a digital notepad. Productivity is only one area where the Memo 3D scores highly, though. The bundled MeMIC Bluetooth hands-free headset makes it ideal for listening to music and making calls, while flipping the MeMO 3D into landscape turns it into a glasses-free 3D display that adds a new dimension to mobile entertainment. Consumers can enjoy movies, games and photos in 3D, all from the palm of their hand.

ASUS targets Christmas for Padfone launch, hints at Ice Cream Sandwich Source We just got to spend some quality time with ASUS' newly unveiled Padfone and you can see the smartphone that doubles up as a tablet on video. It's still a mere mockup for now, but ASUS has big plans for it -- plans that coalesce around the Christmas period and the very latest version of Android at that time. ASUS' Benson Lin was careful not to openly admit the company intends to ship with Ice Cream Sandwich, but he did point out that you can't launch a smartphone with Honeycomb as the OS. We were encouraged to draw our own conclusions. The smartphone is actually the only smart aspect of this hardware pair -- the slate part acts as a display, a set of speakers, an extended battery, and an I/O extender, but it doesn't work by itself. ASUS also tells us there'll be other functionality enabled by the tablet panel, but that's being kept under wraps for now. Compatibility between the display dock and subsequent phone generations is being contemplated but couldn't be confirmed, and as to the UI, ASUS says it'll be almost the same as its second-gen Android tablets. You heard that right, second generation ASUS Android tab.

Activating EVDO on Samsung Galaxy Pop with Reliance CDMA
rajanmehta replied to pabitrak5's topic in Data services
Nice gesture on Amit Jain's part to help for EVDO activation.. But the basic problem of Reliance's adamant/inexplicable attitude in keeping EVDO off by default even for OMH Sim handset remains... I thought MNP will bring some sanity... Many posts even at RIMweb of people running from pillar to post just for such a simple thing.. -

rajanmehta replied to rajanmehta's topic in General Technical Discussion
Already mentioned the discount code rcomlb1 in my post... No. That one won't be upgradable. "Upgradability" means today you buy a Go Flex Series Drive with USB 2.0. Some time down the line you have a flashy new PC/Laptop with USB 3.0, ESata, Firewire port and you are itching to get the higher speeds but you have a USB 2.0 Drive... For any other brand, you would have to replace the whole drive... In Go Flex series, you can buy the additional accessories mentioned in my link to make it USB 3.0, Esata, Firewire and enjoy higher speeds without buying an altogether new drive.- 6,376 replies

You are chasing a mirage if you are thinking about getting Active NC in very low budget & in an all in one with Mic Model for use on PC/Laptop. True Active Noice Cancelling Headphones cost a lot of money, involves sophisticated circuitry, and generally not found in Such models. http://en.wikipedia....ling_headphones http://crave.cnet.co...-work-49298151/ Optimized for voice chat/gaming & not for music is also a misconception. The sound reproduction/quality of music will depend on size/quality of speaker, frequency response, sensitivity in dB. I have used a panasonic, philips headphone with the same size 40mm Speaker, 100-105 dB sensitivity & both produced music fairly well. Philips has a reputation for producing better quality/lower cost headphones. Quite popular in UK, Europe.. -

OFF TOPIC @raccoon If you haven't ordered till now, Go for this PHILIPS SHM1900 http://www.letsbuy.c...headset-p-14560 Will cost you Rs 276 after the Rs 250 discount voucher.. It's supposedly a good quality product with good specs, good user reviews across the web, Philips quality... Very comfortable Full Size Earcup, 20-20,000 Hz Frequency Response, 40mm Speaker, 100dB Sensitivity.. Should give you a very acceptable music quality too... And i don't really think you are going to find a better VFM product than this for Rs 276 IMHO... Just DO IT.. -

Please Suggest a CDMA Handset For Rs.5000 (With These Features)
rajanmehta replied to ssk the gr8's topic in Handset Suggestions
You can't get warranty on pixi being an imported handset but so many Daddies, Doctors, Professionals, Industrialists, Young, Old & practically people from all sections of society across India are using Imported handsets at RIMweb without any serious issues. Choice really is between whether to get a wonderful imported handset with great features at a very low price OR continue using overpriced, underfeatured handset with 1 year warranty the need for it may not arise at all.. -
Those are again RWorld Data plans with Network Usage Charges.... Different from what was suggested in earlier post http://www.rcom.co.i...rnet_phone.html
