  2. Best Android Phone On Gsm Platform?

Use of VoIP for domestic long distance in INDIA is somewhat restricted because voice calls are not permitted to cross from the regular phone network over to the internet or vice versa. That means that the only kinds of NLD VoIP calls that are permitted are calls between VoIP devices. 1. VoIP voice call originates and terminates on VoIP-enabled device. This is the only type of VoIP NLD call that is permitted in India. At least 3 types of devices can be VoIP-enabled: a PC, a smartphone, or a VoIP digital phone. Enabling a PC or a laptop involves downloading and installing a 'VoIP softphone' (aka 'VoIP client') to the device. This is done just as you would install any software on your computer. 2. Voice call originates on a regular India landline or mobile phone, but terminates on a VoIP-enabled device. This type of 'VoIP dial in' calling is not allowed in India. VoIP dial-in services are offered in many countries around the world, but as yet are not legal in India. Note, if you are using a VoIP-enabled smartphone, then this rule doesn't apply and you should read #1 above. 3. VoIP call originates on a VoIP-enabled device, but terminates on a regular India landline or mobile phone. As with #2, this type of VoIP calling, called 'VoIP dial-out' service, is not permitted in India. VoIP dial-out services are offered in many countries, but as yet are not legal in India. Note, if you dialing to a VoIP-enabled smartphone, then this rule doesn't apply and you should read #1 above. Yes Skype is available for Androids and you can use it on any Android.... It won't need Dual Core Processors...
  3. Motorola Atrix 4G-The Monster

Motorola to bring Webtop to all future 'high-end' smartphones AndroidCentral Motorola Mobility chairman Sanjay Jha announced at an investor relations conference this morning that starting this June, all future Motorola high-end smartphones will include Webtop. Webtop so far is unique to the Motorola Atrix 4G, but it looks that will be changing soon. Mr. Jha also made note that the only reason the Droid Bionic did not ship with Webtop was due to time constraints. Hopefully, this means that it may be enabled in a future update. Motorola's definition of high-end also remains to be seen, but phones that can drive the second "shell" for Webtop mode will likely have dual-core processors and either dual-channel RAM as in the Bionic, or at least 1 GB of "normal" RAM like the Atrix. Don't look for this on the Cliq 2, no matter how bad we want it. Placing your smartphone into a specially designed dock to create a web appliance does sound like a very nice idea on paper, but the verdict is still out on just how functional it will be. One thing that would help further it along would be to design the docking stations to be universal, and I hope Motorola has this in mind. We'll know more in June.

Archos Arnova 8 and 10 tablets hit the bargain bin Cheapest Android Tablets... We know, Archos already makes fairly cheap tablets, but believe it or not, the company's going after an even cheaper segment with its new Arnova 8 and 10. The two have been popping up all around the web -- they stopped by the FCC earlier this week and there was an early spec leak from a Russian site -- but now we're finally getting some real details and hands-on impressions courtesy of Charbax, who is quite possibly the biggest Archos fan in the world. The $199 10.1-inch Arnova 10, which we have to say looks a lot like the Archos 101, packs a 600MHz Rockchip RK2818 processor, resistive touchscreen, 8GB of storage, and Android 2.1 -- but before you gag, know that there should also be a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 Rockchip RK 2918 / capacitive touchscreen version coming in April. Meanwhile, the 8-inch Arnova 8 rings up at $150 with the same processor and resistive touchscreen, but only 4GB of storage. If the cut corners don't faze you and you're in the mood for a closer look, we suggest you hit the break for some Charbax video originals. 7. I wonder about one thing though... Why this fascination for using Prepaid for Primary and Mainly Used Individual Numbers Now... I mean there is no huge difference in tariifs beween Prepaid & Postpaid now a days.... Add on Packs are also available in Post Paid... Remembering so many packs in prepaid... validity... recharges... doing the maths...VAS activated...Balance Checks on continuous basis...balance exhaused...then doing the running around to get your moolah back... as one is always fearful of the operator looting you in the background... All this energy saping & waste of time excercises for Busy People like Professionals, Well Settled Guys just for saving 100-200 bucks in postpaid rental is not worth it IMHO.... Personally I have used Reliance, Vodafone, Airtel... All Postpaid... For Years.... And haven't faced any of the hurdles mentioned in this thread as well as hundreds of other prepaid woes mentioned in other topics.... You get the bill...everything mentioned clearly...can do the checking exercise on a monthly basis rather than worrying every day.... Peace of Mind.... And the Operator has to worry about getting the bill amount from you after you availed the services rather than the other way round.... OR Am i Missing Any Great Bounty All Such Prepaid users are getting? Then Enlighten Me!!!

Thunderbolt: Next Big Thing in PC, Laptop Connectivity Fastest Data Interface Yet, 10 Gbps Bi-Directional All About Thunderbolt... The Latest And Fastest Ever Data Interface For PC's Peripheral Devices As has been reported earlier, the new MacBook Pros launched yesterday sport the newest and the fastest connectivity interface from Intel - Thunderbolt (previously known as Light Peak). Thunderbolt is the next big thing in connectivity boasting of data transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps bi-directional. You can therefore transfer several gigabytes of data within seconds. There is a lot of noise being made by this new technology, so let us have a look at what it really is and what it means to us. What exactly is Thunderbolt? Thunderbolt is a new connectivity interface technology developed by Intel, previously known as Light Peak. This is a high speed data interface based on the PCI Express and DisplayPort architectures, which also provides power through a single connection to peripheral devices such as hard drives, video capture devices, RAID arrays, etc. As a result of its direct connection to the PCI Express bus, its throughput is very fast. It is also capable of transmitting HD video using the DisplayPort protocol. A Thunderbolt port can support a theoretical bi-directional throughput of 10 Gbps per channel, and each port has two channels. The estimated real-world performance of this port is around 8 Gbps, making it several times faster than any of the previous data interfaces including SATA 6 Gbps. The limiting factor here would be the actual device using this interface, which is bound to be slower than what this interface has to offer. Since Thunderbolt provides 10 watts of power per channel to peripherals, it lets you run many more devices than what has been possible on previous connectivity interfaces. Thunderbolt is reminiscent of Apple's Apple Display Connector (ADC), which could also drive an Apple display through the same cable. It would carry the video, audio and USB signals, although ADC required a special graphics card, while Thunderbolt uses the Mini DisplayPort. According to its specification, Thunderbolt port supports electrical as well as optical connection. The Thunderbolt port in MacBook Pros launched yesterday supports electrical connectivity and most other manufacturers are also likely to support this type of connectivity due to the cost of optical connectivity being much higher. How is Thunderbolt better than other interfaces? The first thing that sets it apart from the rest is that it is several times faster. Since Thunderbolt is able to carry data, video, audio and network data, along with power, this is surely going to be a truly universal standard interface, possibly replacing the USB in the near future. Will I be able to use existing peripherals with this interface? It is possible to use existing peripheral devices with this interface using the proper adapter. These adapters will be made available by third party vendors in due time. Please note that the speed of the older peripheral devices will remain limited to the interface present on them even though they connect to this faster interface. These adapters will be able to handle data, video, audio and network data as well. How many devices can be connected to a Thunderbolt port and does it affect performance of the connected devices? Up to six devices can be connected to a single Thunderbolt port in a daisy-chain manner, similar to FireWire devices. This requires the devices to support daisy-chaining as well, because each of them is required to have two Thunderbolt ports - one to connect to the previous device and the other to the next. Connecting multiple devices may not affect the performance of any of them as long as they do not exceed the shared bandwidth available in Thunderbolt, and this is not likely to happen at present, because the peripheral devices are too slow. Also, connecting a legacy peripheral device at the end of the daisy-chain will not affect the performance of the rest of the devices, but connecting such a device in the middle of the chain may adversely affect the performance of the devices in the chain beyond it. Would it be possible to boot from a Thunderbolt drive? While this is yet to be confirmed, it is theoretically very much possible. Only real-world tests will confirm whether this is really possible or not. The Thunderbolt port looks like the Mini DisplayPort on the earlier MacBooks. Is it compatible? It does appear like a Mini DisplayPort, it is compatible too. Thus, you can connect any Mini DisplayPort enabled display to a Thunderbolt port. What are the audio and video capabilities? Since a Thunderbolt is based on PCI Express and DisplayPort technology, it can deal with audio and video in the same way as earlier devices. In fact, it has better capabilities due to its extremely high data throughput capability. It can handle up to 8 channels of audio, while the video resolution depends on what graphics card is being used. For example, on a MacBook, it supports up to 2560x1600 on an external display device, while the desktop Mac supports dual-display mode, supporting two high resolution displays. Are any Thunderbolt peripherals available in the market? While prototypes exist and several vendors have announced Thunderbolt-based peripherals, it will take a couple of months for them to actually reach the market and be available for purchase. External RAID array, hard drives, SSDs, etc. are the types of devices that will take advantage of Thunderbolt at the start. While Thunderbolt is currently available on a few MacBooks, it will eventually come to the PC as well and that is expected to happen sometime next year. As of now, Apple seems to be pushing this new interface just like it was doing with FireWire for several years. Quite possibly, this promising interface may become the connectivity interface of choice on the MacBook and the Mac. Only time will tell. Whether it would become an interface of choice for the PC? There is a very high probability that it will indeed be the case sooner than later. Source:Techtree

  13. That is because of Two Reasons... 1. Different ways an Operating System and Storage Devices Manufacturer Calculate STORAGE CAPACITY...... 2. Formatted & Unformatted Capacity.. May be the following can help... Advertised vs. Actual Since consumers don't think in base 2 mathematics, manufacturers decided to rate most drive capacities based on the standard base 10 numbers we are all familiar with. Therefore, one Megabyte equals one million bytes while one Gigabyte equals one billion bytes. This isn't too much of a problem with fairly small numbers such as a Kilobyte, but each level of increase in the prefix also increased the total discrepancy of the actual space compared to the advertised space. Here is a quick reference to show the amount that the actual values differ compared to the advertised for each common referenced value: Megabyte Difference = 48,576 Bytes Gigabyte Difference = 73,741,824 Bytes Terabyte Difference = 99,511,627,776 Bytes Based on this, for each Gigabyte that a drive manufacturer claims, they are over reporting the amount of disk space by 73,741,824 Bytes or roughly 70.3 MB of disk space. So, if a manufacturer advertises an 80 GB (80 billion bytes) hard drive, the actual disk space is around 74.5 GB of space, roughly 7% less than what they advertise. Now, this isn't true for all the drives and storage media on the market. This is where consumers have to be careful. Most hard drives are reported based on the advertised values where a Gigabyte is one billion bytes. On the other hand, most flash media storage is based around the actual memory amounts. So a 512MB memory card has exactly 512 MB of data capacity, but this leads to the next area of reported space. Formatted vs. Unformatted In order for any type of storage device to be functional, there must be some method for the computer to know which bits stored on it relate to the specific files. This is where formatting of a drive comes in. The types of drive formats can vary depending on the computer but some of the more common ones are FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS. In each of these formatting schemes, a portion of the storage space is allocated so that the data on the drive can be catalogued enabling the computer or other device to properly read and write the data to the drive. This means that when a drive is formatted, the functional storage space of the drive will be less than its unformatted capacity. The amount by which the space is reduced will vary depending upon the type of formatting used for the drive and also the amount and size of the various files on the system. Since it does vary, it is impossible for the manufacturers to quote the formatted size. This problem is most frequently encountered with flash media storage over larger capacity hard drives. It's a Standard Industry Practice by all Storage Manufacturers......You will get the same capacity as reported in this Pen Drive with Practically any Branded USB Pen Drive.... So True Capacity is a matter of perception From Which Angle You are Looking... OS or Manufacturer...And File System Used...

  16. How To Get The Most Out Of Health Insurance Portability Health insurance portability becomes a reality Last year, several customers of a private general insurer were up in arms against its decision to increase health premiums. They went to town crying themselves hoarse over the disproportionate hike, but many could not switch to another insurer. This was because they would have had to forgo critical continuity benefits. However, cases like these could become a thing of past once health insurance portability becomes a reality from July 1, provided it is implemented by insurers in its true spirit. More power to policyholders The key issue that prevents policyholders from insurer-hopping at will lies in the pre-existing disease (PED) cover offered by health insurers. In most cases, claims arising out of such pre-existing illnesses are reimbursed only after a waiting period of 3-4 years. A pre-existing disease is defined as any ailment or condition that the policyholder was suffering from, within 48 months prior to buying the policy. And, the period during which the insurer will exclude coverage to such illnesses – typically around 3-4 years – is referred to as the waiting period. So far, policyholders who switched loyalties to another company were treated by it as new customers, thus requiring them to go through the waiting period all over again. Suppose, you want to shift to another insurer after three years of paying premiums under a policy with a waiting period of four years. Now, if the new policy too prescribes a four-year-waiting period, you would be at a considerable disadvantage. This is because, instead of waiting for just one more year for the pre-existing illness coverage, you would be forced to bide your time for another four years. With portability coming through, the odds are now stacked in your favour as you can carry forward the PED cover 'credit'. Under the changed circumstances, the waiting period in the new policy would be reduced to merely one year in the above example. There are some limitations though. Irda has directed that the credit in terms of waiting period will be restricted to the sum insured (including bonus) under the existing policy. Explains Ajay Bimbhet, MD, Royal Sundaram: "Say a policyholder has an existing policy with a sum insured of Rs 2 lakh with an accumulated bonus of Rs 40,000 and now, he wishes to go in for a higher sum insured, say Rs 4 lakh. Here, the credit for the waiting period shall be only in respect of Rs 2.4 lakh (existing sum insured & bonus) and not for Rs 4.4 lakh (new sum insured & bonus)." Making the switch No specific procedure as such has been laid out by Irda. "The policyholder will have to go through the usual process of applying to the new insurance company. The forms are likely to have a section to capture information regarding previous continuously renewed policies to enable portability," explains Mahavir Chopra, head, personal lines and e-business with insurance broking firm medimanage.com. "Details on previous coverage would also be noted. Customers may have to attach proof regarding previous continuous coverage." The insurer will have to acknowledge the receipt of your application for portability within three working days. Likewise, the companies have to communicate their decision within 15 days. If the policy lapses due to delay in processing the switching request, this insurer will have to accept it. Impact on the sum insured... According to Irda, those wishing to switch will be assured of health cover equal to at least the sum insured in the previous policy. But, this may not always be the case. "There is no obligation on the part of the new insurer to match the sum insured if it has not filed such a product with Irda. If your current cover is Rs 5 lakh and your proposed new insurer has filed a product with Irda with maximum sum insured of Rs 3 lakh, you cannot force the new insurer to offer a Rs 5-lakh-cover," says Subramanyam B, V-P & head, health vertical, Bharti-AXA General. "The new insurer will offer portability in the closest product available," adds Sanjay Datta, head, health insurance, ICICI Lombard. …and the fringe benefits There are other continuity benefits like no-claim bonuses and free medical check-ups too, but some confusion on how portabilitywill affect these persists. "The circular issued by Irda is vague. It appears that the new insurer would have to match the sum insured. But the terms and conditions governing the policy would be in accordance with what the insuring company offers. So, my interpretation would be that on migration, if the insuring company offers no-claim bonus, the consumer would get that benefit; otherwise not," says consumer rights activist Jehangir Gai. However, ICICI Lombard's Datta is of the opinion that the new cover would include the no-claim bonus. "If the policyholder has earned a no-claim bonus in terms of additional sum insured, then the new insurer providing portability has to offer a product with minimum sum insured equivalent to the base sum insured plus bonus (i.e. additional sum insured), as available with the policyholder in the expiring policy." The flip side The intention of the regulator in allowing portability may be honourable, but it still leaves much to be desired, causing some industry-watchers to be sceptical about its success. "Unless regulations are framed for enforcing the portability of the policies, it is not going to help at all. Moreover, the 15-day time is given for communicating the insurance company's decision of a proposal submitted by a consumer for portability, which would mean that the discretion vests in the insurance company whether or not to accept the proposal for portability. All that is required is that the decision must be communicated within 15 days from the date of receipt of the proposal," points out Gai. Also, while increased competition, post implementation of portability, could benefit young and healthy individuals , those in the higher age brackets may not be so lucky. "It is not likely to help policyholders in the older age bands (say, 50 and above) and those who suffer from pre-existing ailments. Such proposals are likely to be rejected by the new insurance company," feels Chopra. Lack of clarity Then, there are some grey areas. "Clarity is required on whether underwriting would be allowed for portability proposals; if portability will be offered from group to retail health products and similarly from benefit products like hospital daily cash to indemnity health products; and whether portability has to be provided for first one/two year exclusions too," says Datta. "We expect more clarity on binding the insurance company of the expiring policy to provide the required information to the new insurer in specified time limits, so that smooth portability can operate. Any mischief here could result in major hiccups in porting the policy," says Chopra. Exercise caution Loopholes abound, but it is a step in the right direction. However, for it to work in your favour, you need to plug all the gaps at your end. You need to ensure that you submit the request for portability to the insurer of your choice well before the renewal date. Any consequent delay in processing and rejection by the new insurer could leave you unprotected. "Since 15-days' time is given for processing the proposal of portability, the application should be made around one to two months prior to the expiry of the existing policy," says Gai. Also, you need to make efforts to continuously renew your policy by regularly paying the premiums so that it remains eligible for portability. Finally, study the policy offered by the new insurer and take a call on the trade-off between the existing benefits and any likely increase or decrease in premiums in the new policy. 25. Are There Websites That Really Pay!?

I want to stress that this is a mature discussion... No one needs to take it personally... God Save The Queen!!! @ACS Appreciate Some of your doubts....You ended up marketing it Intellectually... But Sensex is not going to SHUT DOWN...If it goes down...You can always wait for it to come up...Which eventually happens...So the comparisons are off the mark...And the timing factor to get out from such schemes can prove lethal for many because human greed & wish to make easy money has no parallel...Once Someone is IN... Invariably there is effort to maximize the earning by drawing more people... And besides i am not at all conerned about FEW RICH people who can afford this as a Thrill OR a Hit and Miss Affair... There are thousand others who are mistaking this as a means of Livelyhood...Who can't Afford to loose Even 12K... I have seen people committing suicide in the past after getting involved in such MLM's, recommending them to near & dear ones and when the bubble bursts losing the trust & faith of all friends & family... Thousands of people visit RIMweb as Guests....And because there is a huge Trust Factor with this Forum unliike others.... Reputation of RIMweb is more important than worry about an Individual with a Past Track Record... Besides "Karna hai to karo, Vikas ki aur na maro" is not fair... You never followed the same principle when raising doubts, queries about Sadikkbhai's Credibility for few unhappy customers out of thousands... And Posted your Views regularly about that in countless posts.... Sadikkbhai never ran away NOR He Will Ever...Here Mr. Vikas has one proven history of promoting Kanak Dhara, then it failing, then again promoting Speak Asia here (Through in a very subtle manner) as if nothing has happened.. Besides People who actually need to KNOW the full picture (Who can't afford losing money) are least likely to understand the complex workings of such schemes... That's why we had so many MLM's in the past...Taking Countless People's Money.....So the EXPOSE is intended for THEM... @ALL Why i asked those questions to Mr. Vikas Mahajan & not Generally.... -Because he is promoting Speak Asia here at RIMweb in a variety of ways....And Gaining Personally....It's one thing to just post about something & quite another to Promote it Actively...Subtly through the responses he has given...read the entire thread... -By contacting RIMweb members through Chats, mails and trying to hawk this thing... I too received a pm from him to add him to my Gtalk....Don't know how many more will come in the net... -Either he is very innocent because despite having a taste of one earlier Kanak Dhara which also he promoted actively... again he is doing the same for Speak Asia... OR!!!! I just want to Ask One Question to Admin, Mods, Seniors & Other Members at RIMweb.... Did i do the right thing? Should i continue doing that? ... Thanks in Advance For Your Reply ... I will Post Anything in this thread once YOUR views are known...Because i spend a lot of time behind this and need to know myself whether i am wasting it in some Academic Moralistic Excercise OR it is helpful for Even a Single Member... And my effort is only to contribute Whatever little i can to this Forum... Because i gained a Lot of Knowledge from it...
