Simmtronics Announces 7" Tablets Simmtronics Semiconductors showcased its 7″ Android tablets at a press event in New Delhi, India. Earlier, we posted that Simmtronics would be launching its 10″ tablets, but it seems Simmtronics decided to stick to the 7″ display size. In fact, to our amusement, there were 3 different versions of the 7″ tablet on display! Out of these three tablets only one was powered on and it was the same prototype unit displayed in CES 2011. The tablet that was officially announced is called the SIMM ST721 and runs on Android 2.2 with a custom UI on top. The tablet specification are - 7" WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) resistive touchscreen display VT8505 ARM926EJ-S processor 256MB DDRII RAM 2GB flash memory expandable upto 16GB WiFi (802.11 b/g) SD card reader Interestingly, the tablet has an SD card reader and even comes with 2 mini USB port on the side. The Menu, back and home buttons were placed on the side instead of the top bezel. From what we could figure out from the web, the processor mentioned here is a mere 300MHz! No word on pricing as yet. Epson is the only company which uses Micro Piezo Technology for printing in almost all models from cheapest to costliest.. Print Heads in this technology cost more, So it has to be inside the printer otherwise cartridge cost goes up higher. Micro Piezo is superior to conventional thermal inkjet printing system used by HP and others. Technical Theory apart, i have used many HP and EPSON inkjets extensively over the years and noticed that most of the times EPSON beat HP easily in Print Quality of Text and Photos across models.
