This category idea looks promising. May be next year. But this also may not be so easy as it sounds. Best Techie may also be a good samaritan and best seller also. Just a thought. Fitting everyone in the right category and then making everyone happy is very difficult. One may have to run a separate poll for this. And then also the issue of keeping everyone's interest alive for nominations polls and then actual result polls will be there. And if we implement this next year, what about having some negative categories also like Best Leecher, Most Nagging Member, Most boring Member or something similar. I would like to know members views. अँधेरा है तभी उजाले की कीमत है !!

RBNL Launches India's First Talk Internet Radio
rajanmehta replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Communications
And here is the link to access it online Big Net Radio -
Out of the two phones you listed, i too would go for HTC Wildfire. Some other choices. Motorola Quench Xt3. This is officially available in india. See this link http://www.rimweb.in...phone-in-india/ LG Optimus. LG specs shows this as Android 1.6 but Genius is using this phone and he has Android 2.1 on it. Specification Link http://www.lg.com/in...obile-gt540.jsp And finally this Huawei Ideos X6 seems to be father of all this phones. See here http://www.rimweb.in...d-in-hong-kong/ Some Indian Manufacturer Choices. (I may not recommend them but still they are choices and not very very bad considering the price points.) Please Suggest CDMA Handset For TATA Indicom
rajanmehta replied to drshreenivaas's topic in Handset Suggestions
Did you buy it from the link i mentioned in post 3 of this thread?. (I mean from HetalDP)? Because he mentioned Reliance and Tata Activation. If this is the case and still you could not register, then you are out of luck i think. If you tried to buy from somewhere else, contact Hetal for the handset he posted and for Tata Registration in the Buy-Sell link i mentioned. In Tata Indicom Official handsets, i do not see a single CDMA handset with either Android or Windows. Your only option is then to go for Reliance Network where you get official Android Handset (Samsung) as well as many choices in imported Android and Windows handset here at RIMweb. -
Tata Docomo Revises 3G Data Offerings
rajanmehta replied to nayasaroj's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Despite all the negativity about Reliance Communications EVDO Data tariffs, still my instict is that RComm 3g GSM Tariffs will be better than anyone else. There is a strong rumour in the Stock Market about RComm coming up with something spectacular before 15th December and many are cornering RComm Shares. May be Hetal can throw more light being in the stock market as well as knowing RComm so well!! -
Lets say you have a built in wi-fi adapter laptop through which you connect wirelessly to a network. Then you put an additional USB Wi-Fi Dongle in the laptop and configure it for internet sharing. Can you not extend the range of your wireless connection or create a hotspot by this method? USB Wi-Fi dongle may turn out to be cheaper than range extender or additional Wi-Fi Routers.

I understand many members feeling that it is very difficult to pick one but we are forgetting that we are talking about RIMweb Member of the Year 2010. This is not for the entire period since RIMweb's inception. This is for the year 2010. Over a period of time everyone of them has contributed excellently. But we are finding who contributed most for this current year. Every year we have "Businessman of the Year" award by leading business magazines. If you see the winners over a 10 year period, they are all giants and everyone deserves everyone's vote. Still we have a new winner every year. Times change. New leaders emerge and achieve more than anyone else in a particular year. Does not mean that earlier leaders were not equally worthy. Most of the members are seeing nominees standing and contribution for the entire period at RIMweb and not for the year 2010. That's why this dilemma for whom to vote. @Arun. Can we easily get some statistics like no. of posts by nominees in the year 2010 and mention it here. I tried but could not get it. @hetal. I believe Multiple vote is still not the solution as explained earlier.

Excellent useful post Parin. +1 for your efforts.

Names has not been chosen abruptly at all. Read the first post of this thread and then read this clarification post. http://www.rimweb.in...post__p__207504 And then read this post for nominee overview A huge effort has gone into this. I request every member to first read the entire thread before putting in knee jerk reactions as few earlier ones did.

Windows XP is my choice. I use Windows 7 as well as Ubuntu. WIndows 7 is quite reliable, fast and generally much safer than Windows XP. Still i don't like the file explorer interface of Windows 7. Ubuntu has now matured to a stage where you actually don't require much knowledge of linux to start using it. Is is mostly plug & Play with all standard hardware and best part is it is free. Live CD Option is the best when you want to use it for just browsing. No need to install. Just put in the Live CD and it is ready to go. Moreover no need to install anti virus and firewalls. It just works beautifully without it.

Some facts about Reliance2Reliance On-Net Plan of Rs. 77 in Delhi
rajanmehta replied to webmaster1105's topic in Miscellaneous
This is the result of the eternal conflict which goes on between marketing guys and finance guys in any organization. Marketing guys will come up with something bright, attractive to customers. Then the finance guy will poke his nose as he sees the world around him only in terms of bottom line. End Result. By the time the product reaches the end customer, it will be loaded with many *asterisk, terms and conditions and instead of customer delight and loyalty will result in frustration. -
Dial ##8727277# instead of ##usbpass# and you will get access to the menu for setting all ports to None.

Voted For Dr. Mufaddal Why? -Will help everyone without any barrier of newbie, experienced. -Exhaustive, authoritative knowledge of mobiles, programming, mobile OS. -All knowledge gained by sheer hard work and on his own. Just few years back he was a newbie as he claims and look where he is today. -Makes such a variety of handsets available to members at the most attractive prices. It is his passion and not profession. -Simple men, no ego, after attaining all this heights he will still confirm to the forum rules to the last point. Just have a look at his buy/sell posts. My impressions for some of the other nominees: dkaile: -Technology and gadget freak. Has some of the best threads on RIMWEB for most of the CDMA phones he used. This threads give you all the inside information which is not part of the user manual. Helps to use the device to its fullest potential. -Formal most of the time but when that inner freaky soul of his in full flow, his witty one liners are laugh riot, delivers the message in shortest possible words and absolute fun to read. -Silly qurries pe jyada dhyan nahi denge but throw a technical challenge and he will be there all guns blazing. -Like a Coconut, Upar se kabhi bahut kadak lagte hai but dil se bahut narm hai!! -Abhi forum se thode naraj hai but please keep the faith. This show will go on. HetalDP -The man with all the connections in the right place!! (As far as Reliance is concerned) and will use those connections most of the time for benefit of the community. -True CDMA Lover (Like one of the die hard fan which Apple has for Mac) -Android Lover and programming ka itna knowledge hai to post bhi Doctors ke prescription jaisi hoti hai!! Short, sweet but loaded with good technical info. Hitesh -Man for all seasons. Will always be available. Will post answers to any query by anyone. -Accessible and everybody feels at ease with him. -Despite one of the leading sellers at RIMweb, his normal posts will outnumber his buy/sell posts by most probably a ratio of 1 to 10. That is his commitment to RIMweb platform for sharing of knowledge and helping everyone. Honest (Kamal) -One of the most friendly Moderators you can have around any forums. Welcomes everybody including newbies with such warmth. -He says observing everything. And yes he does that. Rarely a topic or request misses his attention. -His humour is clean family fun most of the times. -And most probably he has the highest no. of posts to his name on RIMweb. Wow. What a continuing effort over such a long period. Kesav -If you need a complete ringside view of the Indian Telecom Sector from regulatory, technology, products or from consumer perspective, Just go through all his posts. -Very modest and humble. His arguements with someone will also have that crucial decency factor. No rudeness for him. Reminds me of British Parliament discussions and a saying that "I don't agree with your view but will defend your right to disagree with me till my last breath.". Kshah -One of the earliest and senior member of RIMweb. -Like dkaile abhi thode dejected hai RIMweb ke members se!! -Look at his beautiful initiative for sharing in Thread for Free Giveaways. Sadikk -He was a normal Reliance User when Reliance launched his services. Now one of the biggest sellers at RIMweb (And even outside it). -Biggest example of passion turned into profession. -One of the Moderators at our forum. Dildar aadmi hai!! Dosto pe jan laga dega!! -Likes to take new initiatives in terms of offers, tie-ups with Telcos (EVDO Testing), New Cellwala website launch, Cellwala franchisee offer. But initiative announce karne ke badme forum pe kum communicate karte hai!! Aur finally kya hua uska pata kum logo ko chalta hai!! And Last but not the least The Person Who has refused to be a part of nominee!! Arun, Our Admin at RIMweb. -It is hard to believe that Arun launched RIMweb sometime in 2003 end. And if he is so young even today 7 years after, imagine at what age he had this fantastic idea and we all are availing the benefits of his vision. -Till today, he pays attention to everyone but will even pay more attention to newbies and guide, post the right answers. -Very active, continues to make the forum rich with features. -Friendly. You don't feel intimidated at all that he is the ADMIN. -Spends a huge amount of time to make the forum more useful continuously. To all nominees: Hope i have not exceeded my limits in above post. Please correct me if i am wrong anywhere and sorry if anyone feels offended. Entire intention is to familiarise new/less frequent or non participating members aware of the nominees as i see it in a non formal manner.

Added more nominees in the list now: Honest, Kesav, Greatest, Racoon, Kangadeepan Members can delete vote and re-vote if required as new nominees are added now. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place winners will get the book "Ambani & Sons". Based on some members request "Multiple Vote" was enabled by HetaldDP but this will not make sense when we have to pick a winner from the list. If Multiple Voting is enabled then we have to vote for everyone in the list because everyone deserves our vote. This will not help in picking up a winner as everyone will have the same votes in the end.

I think a few clarifications are in order. I came up with idea of RIMweb Member of The Year 2010 in the month of September 2010. The basic idea behind this was to, -Motivate members who come here only for problem resolution should come alive and contribute to the forum. -Promote RIMweb as an excellent community with bondings and give all members a good view of the Gurus/Giants who have contributed to make it what it is today and particularly for the year 2010. But before doing this on my own, i thought it proper to take a view and concurrence from our Admin Arun. And so we had a good exchange of ideas regarding this. It was thought that it will be a very good idea to allign with our RIMweb 7th Anniversary Celebrations. I am really thankful to Arun who showed great enthusiasm in this idea and then refined it in many aspects including the price money. The original list of nominees was prepared by me containing names of 7 members including our Admin Arun. As already mentioned in the first post in this thread since Arun refused to be a part of nomination, one nominee was added based on his suggestion in place of him. As regarding the rest of the nominees, they were all chosen by me on the following factors, -No. of meaningful posts during the year 2010. -Reputation Points. -Assisting everyone with their problems and sharing their technical knowledge with us. -Providing good handsets at good prices enabling people to experience real CDMA. And rest what qualities i mention in my first post in this poll. For this purpose, i spent about 7 days in searching members based on above criteria and went through almost each and every post by them by searching. So i suppose this clears the air for some of the members views expressed here. I felt some of them just missed the noble intention behind this. The Winner of this Poll will get the Ipod Shuffle and 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place winneres will get the book "Ambani & Sons". So i request each and every member of RIMweb to vote and post their reasons for voting and most importantly contribute their own share for the price money. Many of us spend huge amounts on handsets and we need to have a large heart for our community so that maximum number of members will get the price money. I have already marked my contribution.

Micromax Modu T 3G Hsdpa 3.6 Mbps With 5Mp Camera
rajanmehta replied to vikasmahajanz's topic in Other handsets
Everyone just loves to comment without knowing whether this is a chinese phone. This is not a chinese phone. Micromax has a tie up with Modu Mobile. This phone is based on Modu Mobile which is a company based in Israel and holds the Guiness Book Record for world's lightest mobile phone. The company is founded by Dov Moran, the inventor of USB Flash Drive and have come up with this entire new concept of Modu Phones. Have a look at their website http://www.modumobile.com/ -
Most probably they de activated your EVDO from backend while you changed the handset. Here go through this entire post to know how to get it activated http://www.rimweb.in...ng-in-reliance/ Though the handset is different, principle of getting EVDO activated with Reliance remains the same. And best of luck for one more hair raising experience while you fight it out with them for activating EVDO

rajanmehta replied to kesav's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I must add here that Kesav's amazing knowledge of Indian Telecom Sector, Technicals and willingness to share the same with all of us is really praiseworthy. And more so his humble and friendly approach. Keep it up. All of this makes RIMWEB what it is. -

New 3G Page in Reliance Communications Website!
rajanmehta replied to M.S.Rao's topic in Data services
You are mistaken. This are all Reliance Broadnet Plans with Reliance Telephone Line through ADSL. This has nothing to do with 3G Plans.
