MTS To launch 14.7 Mbps - EVDO Rev.B
rajanmehta replied to kesav's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Brothers if i get EVDO (Super Fast Mail Express Train) as compared to 1x(Passenger Train) i will be more than happy. Yeh EVDO 'B' (Bullet Train) se abhi muje kya lena dena!!! -
Now Consider another highly improbable at the moment but imminently possible Scenario: -Market Cap of Reliance (Mukesh Ambani Group) and Reliance (ADA Group) separately is nearly four times as compared to the earlier single entity of Reliance which was holding everything. So basically for the same assets, they multiplied the market cap four times, added a huge fortune to their personal wealth and have additional borrowing leverage. -Mukesh Ambani sure bought the biggest broadband license in India but at the same time Mr. Anil was aware of it due to the Bhai-Bhai reunion and enlightened awareness about each other and so RComm did not bid for broadband spectrum. -Dhirubhai Ambani used to say i can even salute a peon and have no ego in doing so if it enhances my business prospects. Both brothers have grown up with the same philosophy and now unlike other business families, chances of their fighting each other is very slim. Non-Compete has gone but they would not like to compete with each other in such a ferocious manner where each will hurt other in a substantial manner. It may be co-operation under the table. -And i will not be surprised at all if one fine day we hear the annoucements that some companies of Mukesh Ambani and Anil Ambani are being merged with each other to create economies of scale, competitive advantage and finally that biggest benefit of again multiplying their market cap by 4 or more times. Stay tuned.

Connecting Usb Speakers To Photoframe
rajanmehta replied to ravi_patent's topic in General Technical Discussion
You can buy a USB Speaker with built in battery but i have a doubt whether your photoframe's USB port will output audio? Most probably it is for data transfer with PC. Does it have a 3.5 mm audio output socket? If yes, then buy a USB Speaker with built in rechargeable battery and connect. -
Reliance Jio - Pan India 4G / LTE network
rajanmehta replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Jio 4G LTE (Prepaid & Postpaid)
Trust Reliance to float this 18 month time frame to throw competitors off-track. Going by Reliance's past history of world's fastest turn key project implementations in sectors like Refinery, Natural Gas, Retail, this surely looks like a PR Misinformation baloon with the help of friendly media. Reliance will never wait this long after pumping in thousands of crores in broadband acquisition. Moreover this is not a project like Refinery where you have to errect all that giant structures and it will take a minimum of 2-3 years howerver fast one goes. Broadband in Reliance's case is a different story altogether. Since it is Wireless, he does not need to worry about last mile connectivity and putting physical infrastructure everywhere which takes time. And Reliance waiting for everyone and then launch their services!!!!. They will tend to be leaders rather than followers. They like to take the action rather than react. Most probably it will be LTE as Reliance has a deep comfort level with Qualcomm and current Wi-Max standard pales in terms of Download/Upload speed. -

Revampled forum structure is really very good. Nice re-organisation. Must have taken a good amount of time and efforts. Cheers for our hard working, very responsive, and user friendly Admin Arun.

May i request our admin Arun to consider opening a Sub Category for MTS India under the main Category of Other GSM/CDMA providers. This is needed as MTS is the only other CDMA Provider after Reliance and Tata Indicom in India and all information like plans, coverage, schemes, data etc. can be discussed in one convenient place for easy access rather than getting lost in other threads. Actual MTS users can share info and in light of MNP arriving this will enable all our CDMA users to make an informed choice and have the correct perspective. Thanks.

Which Is Better - 3G or EVDO?
rajanmehta replied to mailgujarat's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
I read with fascination how passionately Kesav defends EVDO with all this technical parameters. I too would have done the same earlier but not now. All this is theory (not saying wrong theory) but fact of the matter is Reliance lost a golden opportunity to capture High Speed Data market for Mobiles despite having EVDO with it for as long as more than 2 year. It had everything, the subscriber base, nationwide network, one of the largest fibre connectivity in India, access to international data pipes. It just needed to seize the initiative, launch some good handsets at right prices, attractive data plans and it could have been a leader in high speed data market for mobiles without even paying those thousands of crores for 3G GSM spectrum. The first mover advantage would have been unassailable for GSM operators to get anywhere near to. I read somewhere on RIMWEB that Reliance might not be launching EVDO for the fear of it being ripped, hacked by people for free data. While this may be true technically but if this is the reason then it is more shameful for Reliance not to be able to find a solution for security. Verizon runs America's largest CDMA network, provides EVDO and remember there is no OMH Sim Card handsets in America. So all CDMA handsets are programmed and all the more chances of it being hacked. Plus you have a huge no. of geeks in America for mobiles as compared to India. If EVDO security was such an issue, Verizon would have gone bankrupt by now. Actually it makes hell lot of money. But now does one seriously think that many Reliance CDMA subscribers deprived of all this for years will still hold on to it by merely this technical comparisons of whether EVDO is superior to 3G GSM or not? I don't think so.MNP and 3G GSM launch in the next two months is going to be defining moment for Reliance CDMA as it will see all those premium high ARPU customers walking for greener pastures. One has to just look around RIMWEB how frustrated such subscribers are with Reliance. And RIMWEB with its some 45000 members is just a representative sample of the Reliance subscriber base. I know many people who are not members of RIMWEB but are equally frustated with it for Data and handsets. Thousands are seething in anger and frustration and i think Reliance is going to meet the same fate as BJP met in 2004 where it too started believing in that glossy "Shining India" campaign without understanding realities on the ground and was voted out by the silent majority. I feel more sad for our heroes at RIMWEB who fought such a lonely battle with Reliance to see it reason and atleast provided us with good handsets. -

Huawei Ideos X6 Spotted In Hong Kong
rajanmehta posted a topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
This is probably the best phone that Huawei has ever made. Ideos X6 is the latest Android smartphone released by Huawei and it's proudly shown off in Hong Kong recently. It's incredible to see it running Froyo and includes a 4.1 inch display. And it's got HD video recording too. Huawei Ideos was first spotted at IFA last month, and we could not believe Huawei is actually planning to launch a full series of Ideos Android smartphones running on Android 2.2. So, this Ideos X6 is the king of the line, featuring a 4.1 inch capacitive display (800 x 480), Qualcomm MSM8255 SnapDragon 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 2GB of ROM, FM tuner, 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, flash, and 720p HD video recording, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS support, HDMI output, Wi-Fi, and a microSD card slot. It measures up at 10mm thick! Here's the full spec sheet. Huawei Ideos X6 is expected to launch first in Hong Kong in January 2011, and later in other countries. It will come with a non-so high price tag. What's more, Huawei presents one more Android smartphone, the Ideos X5, which includes a 3.8 inch touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and HSPA+ high-speed data. -
I am curious to know from the Android Gurus here how easy or difficult it is to upgrade the Android Version of GSM Android Handsets even if your manufacturer has not supplied it? What i am trying to say is that all gurus are using some custom roms for Android Handsets where official upgrade is not available in case of CDMA Androids. Since most of CDMA Androids are imported ones and involves unlocking part and may be Custom ROM installation is not very easy for newbies or you may loose some hardware features. In case of GSM Androids, there is no unlocking involved since they are all SIM based and free to use with any operator. In such cases if the Hardware requirements are met, can one easily upgrade Android from 1.6 to 2.1 and 2.1 to 2.2 without losing any major functions. The GSM Android handsets i am talking are similar to this http://www.rimweb.in...phone-in-india/ And this http://www.rimweb.in...roid-21-mobile/ and this http://www.rimweb.in...roid-21-mobile/ Are all generic official android versions available from google for anyone to download and install?
-
Thanks Gurus. Easy to understand. One question about "Bricking". What i understand by the term bricking is to render your phone unusable and it remains a piece of dead hardware thereafter. Is possibility of bricking your phone remain the same in CDMA and GSM androids? OR you just cannot brick your phone in GSM Android? Say install Custom ROM. Use it if works or otherwise again shift to your official ROM.
-
^^ Thanks for reply but i am asking for GSM Androids and not CDMA Androids. Let me make it more clear. In case of all imported CDMA Androids currently used in our forum, they are all tied to a particular operator like say Verizon may be having Samsung Epic. This handset is tied to the Verizon network by programming in CDMA and generally a normal user is unable to use it on other networks unless he has some programming experience and has access to the so called Custom Roms. By Customs Roms what i understand is that this are the ROMS developed by enthusiasts and wherein the limitation of not being able to upgrade the Android Operating System Version to a latest one is removed if the manufacturer is not providing the upgrade say from 2.1 to 2.2. This may also involve additional programming for such handsets to be used here in India for Reliance and Tata to remove the verizon locking part. Whereas in case of GSM Android handsets i mentioned in my link which are available at the moment in India, they all are not tied to a particular network operator and are SIM Card Based. Means if you buy it you can use it on any GSM Network without doing anything if you are happy with the version of Android it provides. Now if you are not happy with the version of Android it provides, let's say 2.1 but the hardware specifications of the handset is able to support Android 2.2 but the manufacturer of your device like Videocon, Spice or Motorolla has not made an official 2.2 update available or not going to do so anytime soon, my question is that is it easy for an end user to just download the latest Android version from google (I don't know whether google makes available a generic version of Android to all) and install it on your such GSM Handset? The specifications for all the GSM handsets referred by me in the post are pretty similar and one another question arises is that do Generic Official Version of Android ship with standard hardware drivers for majority of devices like camera, processor, accelometer etc. If this is the case then a normal user can upgrade his Android OS in such GSM handsets without losing much of the hardware functions but may be only some custom interface like Motoblur etc. Hope now it is clear what i am asking. And clear answers to this will be greatly helpful to all who are looking forward to take a leap to Android in GSM as very economical and almost full featured handsets are now available. Dr. Mufaddal, Dkaile are you listening?

^^ This looks like a breaking news!! Any Reliance insider to confirm this!!

Also with recent development of EVDO Data at economical rates as mentioned in another thread, this will help many to find all the relevant info at one place and evaluate whether MTS is a good option for their needs or not.

Which Is Better - 3G or EVDO?
rajanmehta replied to mailgujarat's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
"A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush," is a proverb saying that it is better to stick with something you already have, rather than pursuing something you may never get. EVDO one may never get. 3G GSM just 2 months away. Get it then. Till that time ye sab technicalities ko chhodo!! Abhi to 1x sabse beheter hai bhai!! -
Inspiring!! Voted.
