This is what i like about Dhirajbhai. -His childlike curiousity to explore everything in great detail and taking great joy in sharing it with everyone. -Authentic, No nonsense findings and great writing style (Its the Fortuner that I always desired... will trample all the Marutis) And he has this Epic in his hand most probably since only last 2 days if i am not wrong. Shows what great commitment he has to the community in sharing the knowledge and enriching eveyone!!! +1 is not enough but that's all i can do!!

Vote For The Best Web Browser!
rajanmehta replied to Karthik R's topic in General Technical Discussion
Just for Speed Chrome. But still issues with some sites particularly epayments. For overall features, stability, close second in speed after Chrome, nothing beats Firefox. And someone wants to taste the real speed of Firefox (and the internet itself) , just check it out under Ubuntu. Hell it rocks. -

Request TATA Indicom To Activate EVDO on Non RUIM Handsets
rajanmehta replied to gaurangbhartia's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Reliance & Tata both CDMA subscribers are unhappy precisely for the points mentioned by Kanaga. Now if subscribers of both operator will migrate, most probably it will be to a GSM operator as MTS CDMA still does not have a good nationwide network. One possible fallout i see is drastic reduction in prices of CDMA handsets (Atleast in resale market) as all such users will have to dump their CDMA handsets and buy a GSM one. -
Dot Rings Mobile Number Portability
rajanmehta replied to coolrajiv's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Interpreting Mr. Raja's announcements "He also said that in the first phase, MNP will be launched in 11 circles and the implementation will begin from the second or third week of November. An official announcement about this will be made on November 1." So when the official annoucement is only to be made no chance of it being launched on November 1. Implementation will be from 2nd or 3rd Week of November. Does not matter as now they are committing officially to launch it without any further excuses!! For people interested in knowing which 11 circles will get it first, here are the details of the licencees as originally awarded. Syniverse ZONE-1 comprising Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh (E), Uttar Pradesh (W), Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir Telcordia ZONE-2 Kolkata, Tamil Nadu including Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, North East, Orissa Now Telcordia's license is already revoked and DOT is going to ask Syniverse to manage for both zones but at the moment Syniverse will need time to put infrastructure in place for Zone 2. So areas mentioned in ZONE-1 are getting it first -

@sumru Instead of shooting in the dark like this, the easiest option for you will be to walk into the nearest Reliance Webworld alongwith Identity and Address proof documents required for a new connection and ask them to activate a new number for you. If the handset is not usable, you will come to know from them, otherwise job done. Also ask your friend what was the reason the number was deactivated. Was it because of some payment default or he instructed for deactivation himself? If he himself deactivated ask him whether he followed the handset change method by using HCC and *228. If yes, this handset will be ready for activation on a new number.

Spice Launches 3D Phone For Rs 4,299
rajanmehta posted a topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Source: Techtree After conquering the cinema theatres, TV sets, computers and cameras, 3D seems to have broken another bastion with its entry into handsets. Budget mobile phone manufacturer Spice Mobile has released what it terms, India's first 3D phone christened View D. Listed officially as M-67 3D, the phone will feature a 2.4-inch auto-stereoscopic display, which is a fancy name for 3D displays that don't require stereoscopic goggles. Spice, however, doesn't mention the exact kind of auto-stereoscopic technology employed in the LCD screen, but almost all of them have limited viewing angles, which is not a problem for cell phones though. The phone is also dual SIM (GSM+GSM) capable. The 3D display is complemented by 3D enabled video player, image viewer, and a 3D capable user interface. Also bundled is a 2 megapixel camera, FM radio, 3.5 mm audio jack, and memory that is expandable up to 16GB. Priced at Rs. 4,299, the handset will be sold through 50,000 retail outlets, including 750 Spice HotSpot stores. Link For Specifications: http://www.spiceglob...del.aspx?Id=171 -
Spice Launches 3D Phone For Rs 4,299
rajanmehta replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
The description on Spice Website, 3D PhoneYet another remarkable achievement of Spice with the launch of the India's first 3D PHONE M-67 3D. Integrated with an auto-stereoscopic display, the handset allows you to view 3D videos with perfection and yes you DON'T REQUIRE SPECIAL GLASSES. Not just the videos, the cell phone is indeed entrenched with 3D Image Viewer and also the 3D User Interface…making the phone experience all the way new & enliven.Auto-Stereoscopic DisplayM-67 3D is bestowed with Auto-stereoscopic Display, which facilitate users to view three-dimensional images, enabling objects to appear more real & physical. The dedicated 3D shortcut key on the phone key lets users to switch amid 2D and 3D mode instantly. Further, the phone supports parallel version of 3D Image and Video format for that perfect viewing. They are promising for a 3d experience in watching videos and images. Auto Stereoscopic Display is different just from the UI. It's an emerging technology which many companies are adopting in Television Sets and Mobile Display Devices. However it will be interesting to know how Spice has implemented it here at such a price. Funny thing this news is all across the web and even The Inquirer has noticed it. Will be interesting to see when an actual user posts something. -
Dot Rings Mobile Number Portability
rajanmehta replied to coolrajiv's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Just checked the DOT Website. No info there under MNP annoucements for delay to December. May be they will update late. This MNP Drama has all the elements of Epic Mahabharat!! But October end implementation sure looks unlikely as DOT has not still asked officially the other MNP implementing company to manage it all across the country till now and we are already on 25-10-2010. -

Source: Techtree Google has done it again. It has surprised everyone who thought they could crack Google's nomenclature and versioning rules. Following the current Android Froyo 2.2 update, the next major release was rumored as Gingerbread (version 3.0). However, AndroidCentral guys spotted a reply by Android Security Engineer in Google Android Code Issues thread that stated Android 2.3 is a "major release" and this patch will be available then. Next major Google Android released version 3.0 has been reportedly dubbed as Gingerbread. But before that update arrives, several patch family updates succeeding Froyo 2.2 would be released by Official Android Project Developers. Google Android's "issues" repository carried a Wi-Fi related bug problem thread. In that thread, Android Project Member stated: "Yes, Android 2.3 is a "major release", and this patch will be available then." So it's obvious that the Android 2.3 release will be available soon but it's still not clear whether it would be called Gingerbread or something else. But the emphasis on "major release" has surely got us interested. We did report about Android 3.0 version in works and specific details like at least a 1GHZ CPU, 512MB RAM and a 3.5-inch or larger display (1280x760) were listed too. The Gingerbread update was rumored to be released by the end of this year or early next year. As of now, it's unclear whether Android 2.3 is Gingerbread update. Google Developers write their own rules to name any update. Watch the official Android Developer video that shows the arrival of Gingerbread Effigy at Google office.

Image Quality of DSLR vs Compact Camera

Get hold of a professional photographer (Many marriage photographer do have DSLR) and ask him to shoot pics of your kids and you shooting at the same time with your current camera. This comparison will give you the perfect idea rather than anyone posting pics as every picture will be different. -

Image Quality of DSLR vs Compact Camera
rajanmehta replied to drali's topic in General Technical Discussion
I think the point here is also not about whether DSLR is superior or not to Compact. Yes they are and perhaps will always be. Honda will be better than Maruti, BMW will be even better than Honda and may be an Alfa Romeo will top the list. The primary function of all will be to transport people from place a to place b. The important rational point is the context of use, budget of the buyer, technical expertize to utilize the full functions of the gadget etc. Generally in all such debates the geeks will prove the superiority of the costly product (and yes they are superior) and a normal budget buyer will sheepishly stand in a corner feeling, Oh My God, I am missing the best things in life and will go ahead and spend needlessly without realising that his purpose could well have been served well with a less cost product. -
Please suggest Scanner/Printer For Home Use
rajanmehta replied to kkdeep's topic in General Technical Discussion
Most of the Canon/HP and other brands also now a days come with a chip which identifies whether a new original cartridge in installed or a refilled one. Problems ranging from either showing empty cartridge or not allowing to print happen due to this. It is wise to check with the model selected whether this will be the case as one will end up spending huge amounts on costly original cartridges otherwise. Some software tools are available on the net to fix this issues but it can be messy sometimes and can void the warranty and damage the firmware. -
Image Quality of DSLR vs Compact Camera

I forgot the DSLR Compact debate and enjoyed the stunning image of that cute girl's expressive joyous emotion captured at the very right moment. Heck we all get so messed up in debating things technology threadbare forgetting that human beings are still analogue creatures in this digital world. -
