  2. HDMI Through Laptop, TV & 5.1 System

Unless you are a true audiophile and have very good budget, i will not recommend HDMI Receivers. You also need matching 5.1 speakers. You also need to have space to put receiver and speakers in your room as well as a sufficient size room without much obstructions to enjoy it. Once you go into Receiver and speaker chase, believe me your budget will keep on shooting. Again suggesting you on Receivers is very difficult because there are so many of them with various budgets and many people have individual choices also as far as audio is concerned. Instead why don't you explore good range of Upscaling HDMI Home Theaters available in Sony,LG, Philips and Samsung with good features and the range starting may be at around Rs. 15,000/-.
  3. HDMI Through Laptop, TV & 5.1 System

See in the description it says "In digital playback mode, it receives audio stream from PC via USB Interface". Then it says only R L Channel PCM audio in 5.1 channel can be conveyed in digital playback mode. So when you will connect this to this laptop through USB, it will play stereo only. The Device has Line In. If you connect this to Line Out or Headphone Socket of your Laptop, again it will receive Stereo Input. Because in a single analogue port, you cannot transmit 5.1 Channel Data. This input it may output through its Front Out, Rear Out and Cen/Bass out but it will be Stereo audio multiplexed to 5.1 and not true 5.1 Audio which you want to enjoy in original DVD with 5.1.
  4. Company named BlindType has been acquired by google which claims to have developed a breakthrough touch typing technology. Here is the company website BlindType Watch the video. It is really fascinating.
  5. Source: Techtree Remember the twin dual SIM handsets from Motorola that were released in Europe a few weeks ago? Just as we thought, these handsets have now arrived in India - one of the world's fastest growing mobile phones market. The new handsets are the Motorola EX115 and the Motorola EX128. The former is a QWERTY keypad laden device while the EX128 boasts of a touchscreen Let's see what these new devices have on offer for you. We start with the EX128. The device is a touchscreen handset which is just 12.8mm thick. The screen on the device measures 3.2 inches across and is arguably one of the largest screens you would find on a dual SIM phone in the country as of now. Apart from the screen, it also has a 3-megapixel camera with digital zoom and support for video recording. Its memory is expandable up to 32GB and it offers a talk time of up to 300 mins and standby time of up to 350 hours. The EX 115, on the other hand, is more of a messaging handset boasting of a full QWERTY keyboard. Like the EX 128, this too boasts of a 3 megapixel camera at the rear. It also supports up to 32GB of external memory. The EX 115 offers up to 200 minutes of talk time and a standby time of up to 250 hours. The screen measures 2.3-inches across and boasts of QVGA resolution. Both the phones come with a 3.5 mm audio jack and support for FM radio as well as Bluetooth 2.0. Both, the Motorola EX128 and EX115, are available at retails outlets in India. The Motorola EX128 and the EX115 are now available at best buy prices of Rs. 5,990 and Rs. 4,990 respectively. The MRP of the EX128 is Rs. 6,990 and EX 115's MRP is Rs. 5,990.
  6. Motorola Debuts First Dual SIM Phones In India

Atleast this Motorola models specifications and looks are way better than the trash dished out by Nokia in the name of Dual Sim. So Brothers, we are making progress and can expect better Dual Sim handsets from Branded Manufacturers. The manufacturers may have a wrong notion that Dual Sim handsets might be used only by Budget Conscious people and so they may want to restrict features and price point only upto a certain limit. But in India we see many premium customers also who use two handsets and will be willing to pay for higher priced dual sims if they take care of their feature requirements.
  7. They made the announcement of acquisition on 1st October 2010 only. How long they take to actually put up the application in Android Market is anybody's guess.

  9. HDMI Through Laptop, TV & 5.1 System

:previous: This may not work for a true 5.1 Surround sound if one goes by the following description given on product page, In digital playback mode, it receives audio stream form PC via USB interface and transmits audio data according to the AES\EBU, IEC60958, S\PDIF cnsumer interface standards. Only R L channel PCM audio in 5.1 channel can be conveyed in digital playback mode.
  10. HDMI Through Laptop, TV & 5.1 System

If you have a receiver which is HDMI capable, then it will have both HDMI In and HDMI Out ports. HDMI In will take your laptop input and decode sound in 5.1 or 7.1 as per feature of your receiver and no. of speakers attached to it. HDMI Out port will be used to pass on Video to your TV. Some Receivers will allow Component Out port also to be used for passing video to TV with HDMI Input as Source. If your TV has only 2 audio Channels, you cannot have 5.1/7.1 sound in it even after using HDMI.
  11. HDMI Through Laptop, TV & 5.1 System

Please post your complete configuration. Do you have a receiver with 5.1 Speaker Sytem and with HDMI Input?
  12. Nice reading your experiments. Keep them coming. You are one hard working fellow. Wish you success in your efforts. Still my instinct says that you will find the perfect performance only with Full Fledged PC's and Server.
  13. Dot Rings Mobile Number Portability

Just look at the hypocracy of the Indian Government. They just wanted anyhow to put one more spanner in MNP rollout which has been done since last one year. The reason given is that Telcordia has some software firm in Pakistan and this may have security concerns. What rubbish!! All other international telecom vendors will have some or the other presence in Pakistan. Has anyone of them been banned? No. Would not a mobile operator in Pakistan be using Alcatel, Nokia, Siemens or Huwaie equipments in their networks? An IBM Software services or many other companies will be present in Pakistan in one form or another. A blackberry will also be present. None of this impacts security? More than the outrageous nature of this argument, what provokes me more is that this will be accepted without any questioning by everyone including the so called important pillar of our Democracy, Media. (Except guys like us at RIMWEB and other internet media.) When the Telecom Licenses were given by A. Raja, he kept a window of Just 2 hours for submission. Now in this case the notice to Telcordia was issued in August and Answerable by October perfectly in sync with the MNP rollout deadline. What a good co incidence that the license is revoked just now.
  14. This is frightening!!!! If they refuse to reverse the charges in final bill, one can be in serious trouble.
  15. @Hitesh Post your experiences. Where have you reached in your project?
  16. Anyone from the RIMWEB community who has actually bought this phone should post a user review! Will help all!
  17. Source: Techtree News Staff, Sep 29, 2010 1320 hrs IST It's a known fact that India is one of the fastest going mobile phone markets in the world. The growth in the sales of mobile handsets too has been consistent over the past few yeas and has reached an all time high in the last quarter. According to advisory firm IDC, 38.63 million mobile handsets were sold during the period of April-June 2010. This is a growth of over 6.3 percent quarter on quarter. As expected, most of India's sales come from low-end, high volume handsets. While Nokia and Samsung still hold on to the No.1 and No.2 positions, according the report, Chinese manufacturer G'Five is at number 3 - garnering 7.3 percent of the market share. Nokia and Samsung hold 36.3 percent and 8.2 percent respectively. Micromax Mobiles and Spice Mobiles are at the 4th and the 5th spot respectively. What has come as a surprise to us is the growth of small players like G'Five and who are now right at the heels of far bigger players like Samsung and Nokia. Other erstwhile biggies like Motorola, LG and Sony Ericsson, who used to prominently feature in the top five list of the yesteryears, are no longer up there. The report also adds that multi SIM handsets are getting popular by the day in India. In fact, sales of dual SIM handsets have increased from accounting for less than 1 percent in 2009 to garnering over 38.5 percent in a span of just one year! We wonder what took Nokia so long to introduce its dual SIM handsets in India. They are obviously late to the party with arch rival Samsung already having a plethora of dual SIM options. Going by the rate at which these small players are advancing, who knows if you see Micromax, G'Five or Spice ending up as the top phone makers in the country in the years to come.
  18. Mobile Phone Sales At An All Time High

I too was very surprised to find G Five at 3rd spot. But this establishes the fact once again that India is a unique market and value for money is the overriding mantra for millions of people. However hard the marketing machines of multinationals try to extract price premiums for their similar products, people are loathe to pay the same if they are going to get the same or even better features at a lower price point.
  19. Actually this high termination charges acts as an officially sanctioned entry barrier for new operators. For SMS atleast, it should be zero.
  20. Like a politician, i would say i was misquoted!! Lol No actually what i meant to say was the following, -Alcatel as of today has almost zero presence in india as far as handsets are concerned. So there will be associated problems like service etc. Secondly, if the product is very good, it is rarely the case that it will not succeed. It is not the case that Alcatel has never entered India. It did, tried and then wound up. When you are such a huge company worldwide but still are unable to succeed in a huge market like india, it says a lot about your products. Moreover Alcatel is very strong at enterprise level telecom products. It was never a significant company at the consumer level. -I have used not 1 or 2 but more than 10 Alcatel handsets either personally or through my company to other people. Every one of them had issues within less than 6 months. -I have also used more than one Alcated Cordless phones. One died within 2 months. Another within 3 months. After running around entire Mumbai and to their Service Center, it could not be repaired. This was officially purchased from Croma. Ultimately i gave this to my raddiwala for Rs.20 per piece as plastic bhangar. -How is Asus not successful in India. It is the top motherboard brand. HP is in Top three for PC,Servers and Printers. Acer as of today is in top 2 for Laptops. Benq is very strong in Monitor which is the segment they focus. Toshiba is strong in enterprise notebooks and in consumer electronics like LCD TV which it started focussing seriously since last 6 months, it is making rapid strides. Sharp is doing good business in Copiers and MFD's. Pantech and Palm is not present in India. Moral of the story, if your product is good, you will succeed. -Docomo is actually revered in Japan for the fantastic handsets they introduce carrying features which are introduced there first and then the world follows. Actually when Tata Docomo was launched, one of the first statement made by senior management was that they are looking forward to introduce Docomo's legendary handsets in India. It is in this context i am disappointed their launching a handset that too an Alcatel not different from many Chinese QWERT phones.
  21. Alcatel mobiles have not been successful at all in India. It's a dead brand. Wish they had chosen a better Company.
  22. Non SMS Stuff

    @KumaarShah :rofl_200: This is called living a dog's life!!
  23. Stock has been sold but now it will be the turn of phone also. RGSM: They are now pinning their hopes on 3G rollout but it is not going to add any substantial revenue in the near term. 3G adoption is going to be a slow process particularly in India if the tariffs will hover around Rs. 800-900 minimum as predicted by Sunil Mital. In % terms for the initial year 3G adoption is expected at less than 10%. Spectrum auction cost and rollout cost running into thousands of crores can not be recovered atleast for the next 5 years. Any real revenue starts only then. The poor quality of RGSM network in many part of the country inspite of having one of the largest tower network also does not help in attracting new customers as well as retaining old ones. RCDMA: RCDMA had such a wonderful advantage for data for so many years but could not turn it into real revenue due to horrible data pricing. Today when all GSM operators are offering Rs. 98/- GPRS plans with 2 GB to 6 GB data download, RCDMA is still struck into costliest plans with Network Usage Charges on top of that. The principle of penetrating the market with lowering cost barriers employed so successfully by Mukesh Ambani with Rs. 500 handsets is forgotten. Many of the occassional users of data simply do not use any plan for fear of high bills. If same plans as GSM data is offerred, almost all CDMA users will subscribe. The spectrum congestion bogey in CDMA due to highspeed is also a bogus one. In the Indian context, very few users in GSM exhaust their quota of 2GB but that additional revenue of Rs. 98/- matters a lot especially when you have ARPU's in the range of Rs. 130/-. Troubled times are ahead for Reliance Communications.
  24. It does not matter that you have downloaded the drivers via different computers and installed on your laptop. Read my reply properly. In case of USB Devices, the drivers do not get installed properly if the device is attached to the computer when you are installing the drivers. Follow the steps and see if it works, -On your Laptop, do not connect the phone through data cable. -Now install the spice modem drivers which you have downloaded. If the OS asks for a reboot do it. -If you have already not done, configure network connection on your laptop as mentioned on R Com Website. -Now connect the phone through data cable to laptop and try connecting. And post whether this was successful.
  25. Kapil's solution is perfect.
