MediaTek Powers World’s First Triple SIM 3G Android Smartphones Source TAIWAN, Hsinchu – July 25, 2013 – MediaTek Inc., a leading fabless semiconductor company for wireless communications and digital multimedia solutions, today announced the world’s first triple-SIM technology for 3G Android smartphones. The cutting-edge solution, which comes in response to widespread demand for multi-SIM devices in emerging markets, was recently commercialized in Brazil by Optimus L4II smartphone from LG Electronics. Building on the success of its popular dual-SIM predecessor, 3G Triple-SIM technology allows for three SIM cards to be used simultaneously. Each can receive calls, transmit data, send SMS messages and remain in standby mode concurrently without consuming excessive battery life. A key feature of the 3G Triple-SIM solution is its high level of stability, which prevents the occurrence of dropped or poor-quality calls, and reaffirms MediaTek’s reputation as the leading producer of multi-SIM chipset technologies.

  3. iPhone CDMA Likely To Be Launched By Reliance Communications Source RCom is planning to launch the iPhone for its CDMA network in India, BGR India has learnt. Multiple people with knowledge of the matter have confirmed that the two companies have signed a deal and an announcement is likely to be made soon. With increasing data revenues across carriers, RCom hopes that having a high-end device like the iPhone would help it retain subscribers and also increase its data revenues. “We have always believed that CDMA is a better technology for data services and we will introduce high-end smartphones across both GSM and CDMA networks,” an RCom executive told BGR India on condition of anonymity as he is not authorized to speak to the media. Apart from Apple, the carrier is also looking at other vendors like HTC and Lenovo to offer smartphones for both its GSM and CDMA networks. Currently, all iPhones and GSM smartphones from other vendors are available unlocked so it is unlikely to make much sense for RCom to procure GSM smartphones. In all likelihood, it would launch the CDMA variants and probably offer some regular data bundling deals for its GSM subscribers. Earlier RCom had entered into a marketing agreement with CoolPad, a Chinese brand, to sell low-end Android smartphones from its own stores. However, the carrier now believes it needs premium smartphones in order to entice high value subscribers to increase its data revenues.

^ ^ ^ Most Gujarati newspapers generally print such fiction. There is no such plan.
  5. Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestion There are requests for changes in buy-sell guidelines due to some recent not so good experience from some newbie sellers. I thought of opening a fresh topic where we all can put our view forward and then Admin/Mods can take a final call. Background: As we all can see, recently there is increase in number of sellers who come on this forum ONLY for selling/making a quick buck/treating it as more of a BUSINESS. Getting a properly configured imported handset at a great price has been one of the unique attribute attached with this forum. This is enhanced by the fact that there is a reputed seller system where certain things are pre assured. Even for sellers who have not been in the reputed seller category, most of them are regular on the forum, contribute/help in various technical/other discussion. All this has resulted in most of the buyers attaching a much higher TRUST level to ANY sell topic here on this forum then others. Presumption from most buyers is always that every sell topic is good, buyer will get the items quickly, as described and with proper communication. Objective: The first objective of the forum is sharing of knowledge, help in technical matters. Buying/Selling though very important but is not THE primary thing for which the forum stands. It will be good if there are more reputed sellers but NEWBIES/Non Serious players who are here to make a fast buck/extra/side income can't be encouraged/allowed. Ofcourse if they are serious & continue with the forum, they will surely migrate to the next level in the long run. The system has to be designed as such. Regular Members who are selling occassionally OR single handsets (Upon changing/upgrading the handset) should face no difficulty/obstruction in posting their sell topics. (Ofcourse should comply with all rules) Proposed Changes in Buy-Sell Guidelines: Minimum number of posts for opening a sell topic for a single item should be 25 & Member since not less than 2 Month. (Applicable for All Members). If someone wants to open a sell topic with multiple items at a time, then the Minimum number of posts should be 100 & Member since not less than 6 Month. Someone wanting to sell multiple items but not having 100 posts but having 25 posts can post sell topics with a SINGLE item only, finish the transaction, receive the feedback & then open another topic for another item. No multiple ITEM sell post in the same topic to be allowed. All instances of sellers posting that he is having x phone/phones in stock for sell without actually giving complete details as per Buy-Sell guidelines should be strictly prohibited. There have been multiple instances of such practice recently with even the current problem sell topic of the fella with less then 10 posts having such post. See HERE in the third post he is mentioning handsets for sell without mentioning any details. This was not NOTICED/ACTED/ UPON. Not trying to blame anyone. Admin/Mods here do a wonderful job always. But we have only 2 Active as of today. Arun & Kamalbhai. Pretty busy too. Also this is complete free SEVA. It's entirely understadable that every topic may not receive every attention all the time. But then we should think of APPOINTING additional MODERATOR/s who can contribute. For used phone sell topic, minimum of 6 photographs compulsory displaying front/back and all 4 sides. As soon as the sell is closed, the posting member asks for closing the topic and it's closed immediately. No sell topic should be closed untill the buyer has posted the feedback. A separate TOPIC named Buyer's Checklist for Online Imported CDMA Handset Buying on RIMWeb should be created and a link to that topic should be made mandatory to be placed in all sell topics in RED Color (Except may be of Reputed Sellers). Possible Content of that topic given below Buyer's Checklist for Online Imported CDMA Handset Buying On RIMWeb Have you taken complete details of the seller like Full Address/Contact/Email/Numbers? Have you confirmed with the seller all details regarding MEID Registration/EVDO Data/Configuration/Activation? Have you confirmed with the seller regarding what services he will offer regarding above during initial sell & at the time of resale? Have you confirmed whether above services are free or chargeable? If chargeable, What will be the charges? Have you kept details of all communication with seller whether through pm/email handy? This will help in the event of a dispute. Have you satisfied yourself with the seller credentials/reputation/regular availability on the forum? Have you verified how long the seller is on the forum & checked the past feedbacks if any? Request all members to please share your inputs/suggestions regarding any of the above.

  7. Movies That You Loved (Or Hated) - Part II

D Day - Rating 4/5 Stars Brilliant. Can you believe it's from the same director who made Kal Ho Na Ho! For a change, unlike other such films based on india-pakistan covert/overt war, he is able to keep the jingoism in check untill the very last scenes and instead weaves a gripping story of unsung RAW agents out on a mission which possibly every indian wants executed in their dreams! Despite the disclaimer in the opening credits that it's a fictional story, major part is intentionally based on real life events. (Lol:Indian Prime Minister answering calls from Madam!) Photography, art direction is impeccable. Despite shot in Ahmedabad, Surendranagar & Kutch in Gujarat, he creates the Pakistan ambience well. Action from Tom Struthers who has The Dark Knight & Inception to his credit is superb.

MF9 Update Rolls Out To Sprint Galaxy S4, May Lock Down Bootloader Source Sprint customers might just see the MF9 update begging for attention. Don't expect anything too major here, but after the download is complete, your phones should support installing apps from the Play Store onto MicroSD cards. Other niceties include HD Voice enhancements and additional wallpapers. Version MF9 includes enhancements and fixes to: HD Voice enhancements Audio Clipping with headphones at higher levels Enable market app installation on sd card Wallpaper modifications - removed one and added two new ones Corrected issue causing "Unfortunately Messaging has Stopped" ========================================================================================================= Verizon Galaxy S4 VRUAME7 Update Available Via Desktop Tool - Blocks Existing Root Methods And Patches Bootloader Source Samsung Galaxy S4 owners on Verizon, there's a new update available for your phones. But don't bother checking your Settings menu for an over-the-air prompt: it's only available via the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant after connecting the device to a PC. Standard users should be fine, but rooted users (or those who intend to root or flash a new ROM sometime in the future) should avoid this one. According to several posters on XDA, the VRUAME7 patches existing root methods, and flashes a new version of the locked bootloader that prevents users from flashing a pre-release kernel, effectively blocking another path to root. A similar update may have already gone out to Sprint Galaxy S4 owners. At present, no one has found a way of rooting the new firmware. At least one XDA user has stated that the update activates the Knox Agent, a Samsung-developed secure boot method intended for "bring your own device" solutions, but also works as an active block for SuperUser applications. Fortunately, the update seems to be limited to Verizon's proprietary Software Upgrade Assistant (available via a virtual CD drive when you plug the Galaxy S4 into a PC) or Samsung's own Kies, so it's fairly easy to avoid at the moment. ======================================================================================================== DROID RAZR HD / MAXX Update 9.20.1.XT926 Announced, RAZR M Update 98.16.3.XT907 Announced As Well Source Verizon has announced a pair of OTA updates for the RAZR HD (HD MAXX) and RAZR M, bringing a suite of enhancements and bug fixes to the two handsets.
