Airtel, Vodafone, Idea told to stop 3G services in all circles under roaming; slapped hefty fines
rajanmehta replied to sathishq's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Delhi High Court Lifts Stay Order On Bharti Airtel 3G Roaming Pact Ban Source The court has allowed Airtel to continue its 3G roaming until the next hearing, scheduled for 8 May. New Delhi: A division bench of the Delhi high court has vacated a stay order on the department of telecommunications (DoT) notice to Bharti Airtel Ltd, asking the telco to pay a Rs.350 crore fine and to stop offering 3G services in circles where it did not win spectrum in the 2010 auction. On 15 March, DoT had sent Bharti the notice that asked the company to stop offering 3G services in seven circles and pay the fine in 72 hours. Bharti was able to get a stay on the order from a single bench judge in the court by 18 March. The court also let the telco continue its 3G roaming until the next hearing, scheduled for 8 May. Bharti was able to offer the services through roaming pacts with Vodafone India Ltd and Idea Cellular Ltd who are also expected to receive similar notices. This stay was then contested by Reliance Communications Ltd which has led to the vacations.- 16 replies

Advice Required for Verizon BlackBerry Z10 on Reliance CDMA
rajanmehta replied to ami1's topic in Technical / OS related
Don't have answers to your query but making some educated guess just to make you feel happy that someone replied. I think none of the gurus can answer conclusively unless they have the handset in hand and check out the possibility. Most of the gurus may not get the handset in hand because of shortage of buyers for blackberry Z10 except die hards like you.- 9 replies

HTC One 802W For China Spotted With Removable Cover, Dual SIM Slots And MicroSD Slot Source Much like how three (or four) of the major US carriers will be getting the HTC One, China's three carriers will also be receiving the same treatment, according to the country's official device approval database. The three flavors are known as 802w, 802t and 802d, each heading to China Unicom (WCDMA), China Mobile (TD-SCDMA) and China Telecom (CDMA), respectively. For the record, the European version we have is 801n, so perhaps the third digit represents the number of SIM slots featured on the device. This is certainly the case for the 802w. Earlier today, a Sina Weibo user posted the above photo of said phone with its back cover -- between the two plastic lines -- removed, thus exposing not only its two SIM card slots but also a microSD slot just below the camera. It's worth noting that the European version of the One doesn't come with a removable back cover, let alone a secondary SIM slot or a microSD slot; but at least it has LTE, right?

Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

New Online Reservation Website For Indian Railways

Free Wi-Fi Internet Services in Trains To Be Launched Today Source NEW DELHI, APRIL 2: Train journeys may not be all that boring anymore. The Indian Railways is launching free Wi-Fi based Internet services today starting with the New Delhi- Howrah Rajdhani. Fifty other trains are expected to be connected this year. Train passengers will be able to browse the web, access email, chat, video services like YouTube and even play online games while travelling. Initially, 4 Mbps download bandwidth and 512 Kbps upload bandwidth is earmarked for internet facility in moving train. However, individual users may get much lower speeds because this bandwidth will be shared by all the passengers on the train. Nirav Dave, Managing Director, Techno Sat Comm (India) Ltd, the company which is providing the technology, said that in case the demand for bandwidth becomes high the network has the intelligence to prioritise traffic. “Critical communication applications like email or online transactions will be given top priority. Video downloads and gaming would be last, if there is a crunch on the bandwidth availability,” Dave told Business Line. “We had done trials with 120 passengers simultaneously accessing different types of Internet services on a 2 Mbps bandwidth and we found that there were no issues as far as download speeds are concerned,” he added. Access to porn sites will also be blocked. Technology Internet access to passengers has been provided using two-way satellite hybrid with 2G/3G and Wi-Fi. The system consists of on-board satellite tracking antenna, multiband antenna and Wi-Fi broadcasting equipment for on-board last mile connectivity. The primary broadband link to back haul the internet traffic is established via satellite and in the event of non-availability of satellite the multi-access router automatically switches from satellite to 2G/3G links to achieve 99 per cent connectivity. The satellite antenna is placed in one of the two power cars of the rake. This is linked through Wi-Fi radios provided outside of each coach. This is further distributed inside the coaches through indoor access point. Security To comply with the DoT’s extant guidelines for user authentication for public Wi-Fi networks, a detail log in process has been put in place. For accessing the service, passengers will have to provide mobile number, PNR number, Government ID (election card, Aadhar etc) for getting unique password by SMS on the mobile. The system will be scaled up to offer interactive multimedia entertainment with Internet Television in the future. In the Budget Speech for the Financial Year 2011-12, the Finance Minister had announced the initiative. “To introduce internet access in moving train was a technological challenge considering that the train passes through all type of terrain and continuous Internet access in all weather is to be provided. After due deliberations on various options for providing internet access, Indian Railways decided for satellite communication link to the train,” Dave said. This facility will be extended free of cost to the travelling passengers. The facility is being introduced for the first time on Indian Railways through the latest technology at a total cost of Rs 6.30 crore. The Railways intends to expand this service to other Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto express trains progressively based on customer feedback and acceptance. -

Reliance Jio - Pan India 4G / LTE network
rajanmehta replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Jio 4G LTE (Prepaid & Postpaid)
Reliance Jio Infocomm, RCom ink pact to share fibre optic network Source NEW DELHI, APRIL 2: Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd and Reliance Communications Ltd today announced the signing of a definitive agreement for approximately Rs 1,200 crore for sharing RCom’s nationwide inter-city fibre optic network infrastructure. Under the terms of the agreement, Reliance Jio Infocomm will utilise multiple fibre pairs across RCom’s 1,20,000-km inter-city fibre optic network to provide 4G services. Under the agreement, Reliance Communications will, in turn, have reciprocal access to optic fibre infrastructure to be built by Reliance Jio Infocomm in the future. The agreement provides for joint working arrangements to be put in place immediately for upgradation of the optic fibre network. "This agreement is the first in an intended comprehensive framework of business co-operation between Reliance Jio Infocomm and Reliance Communications to provide for optimal utilisation of the existing and future infrastructure of both companies on reciprocal basis, including inter alia, inter-city fibre, intra-city fibre, towers and related assets," said a statement from RCoM. This is the first major deal announced by the two companies after the Ambani brothers split the Reliance empire. Earlier this year RCom had signed a billion dollar deal with Alcatel Lucent for upgrading its telecom network, including optical fibre. -

HTC One Battery Life Test is Complete, Breakdown is Inside Source Now that we finished with our HTC One review, we took our time to give you the detailed breakdown of the smartphone’s battery stress tests. The HTC One is powered by a 2300 mAh Li-Po battery unit that handles the latest quad-core Snapdragon 600 chipset. So, how did the HTC One do? Here we go. Our first battery test is all about 3G calls. The HTC One battery went out after 13 hours and 38 minutes, quite an impressive result and very close to the Galaxy S4′s talk time despite the 300 mAh battery advantage of the Samsung flagship. HTC One did an amazing job with the web browsing test. It outlasted every other smartphone we’ve tested so far and took the first place in the chart coming just a couple of minutes short of the 10 hours milestone. Nicely done, HTC. Finally we’ve put the One into an endless video playback loop to see how long it’ll take for it to lose 90% of its battery charge. We were in for yet another impressive result with the HTC One matching the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Apple iPhone 5. The battery drained after 10 hours and 2 minutes, which is quite an impressive result sufficing for sixth place in our all-time chart. With the kind of performance we witnessed in the indivudual tests, we were preparing to see the HTC One post a record overall score. Alas, the smartphone was led down by its standby efficiency and only manged 48h. That’s as much as the Sony Xperia Z, but seriously short of the Samsung Galaxy S4 achievement. This means you’ll only need to charge the HTC One every 48 hours if you use it for an hour of talk-time, an hour of web browsing and an hour of video-watching per day.

Reliance Infotel LTE Ready Tablet for Rs 8,000
rajanmehta posted a topic in Reliance Jio 4G LTE (Prepaid & Postpaid)
Mukesh Ambani's company Reliance Infotel, which is the only company with pan India spectrum to launch BWA services, has plans of selling tablets at less than Rs 8,000. Long Term Evolution on paper supports downlink peak rates of at least 100 Mbps, an uplink of at least 50 Mbps Just to have an idea how cheap Infotel's proposed tablet will be, consider that it will be about one fourth the price of a high end device such as Samsung's Galaxy Tab, which costs Rs 35,000; or a third of the price of a medium range device like the Olivepad from Olive Communications, which sells at Rs 27,000. Of course, prices in general might go down by the time Infotel's tablet is available. Our sources tell us that the company is currently testing tablets from almost 15 Taiwanese vendors. It has already decided that it will use LTE technology for its network. Infotel is likely to announce its plans in the first quarter of 2011 and will start network roll-out soon after. While the specs of the tablet are not known, our sources are certain that it will use LTE, or Long Term Evolution high speed broadband technology. Apart from that some of Infotel's tablets are expected to run on Android OS and the cheapest ones might use custom Java based operating systems. It is said that tablets will be key to the mass market adoption of broadband and Infotel is expected to ensure that access devices are cheap, the same as Reliance Communications did when it entered the market with CDMA almost a decade ago. Considering the rumor of investment from Reliance in Notion Ink, we might as well see the next version of Adam, which is being called Eve to support LTE and might land on Reliance Infotel, but it seems a long shot. India has been a laggard as far as broadband adoption goes, and analysts have pointed fingers at two main aspects, device cost and lack of content. Infotel hopes that it is solving at least one of these problems. The company said in a presentation to its investors that it will also concentrate on creating an eco system to ensure quality content, and we expect them to already be working on it. Telecom Yatra
