  1. iPad Mini CDMA Query

There are two different models of iPad Mini with Cellular Radio. >> http://www.apple.com/in/ipad-mini/specs/ Model A1454 has only GSM 3G radio whereas Model A1455 has CDMA EV-DO Rev.A and Rev.B + GSM 3G. Looks like you're lucky to get your hand on model A1455. Just try with a CDMA OMH SIM Card (Which is EVDO activated from the backend) to check whether data works. Since this model also has LTE, my hunch says that it should work with CDMA SIM data in the same way as some other imported LTE phones are working. Because theoretically iPad MiNi is sold unlocked in india and should not be specific operator configured/locked.

Nokia Lumia 520 Launched in India, Becomes Most Affordable Windows Phone 8 Smartphone Source Along with the Lumia 720, Nokia today also launched the Lumia 520, the successor to the Lumia 510 and the most affordable smartphone running Windows Phone 8 in the market. The Lumia 520 features the third-generation Lumia design and looks similar to the Lumia 620 with its curved corners and back, something that the company calls the human design. The Lumia 520 features a 4-inch WVGA IPS display that comes with the super-sensitive mode that enables users to use the touchscreen even while wearing gloves or with their fingernails. Like the Lumia 720, it too comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz, 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot. It comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera that can shoot 720p videos but omits a front camera. It also does not have NFC connectivity. However, the Lumia 520 still offers great value for money as it comes with Nokia’s music and navigation services. It also comes with pre-installed lens apps to add more value to the camera. It sports a 1,430mAh battery that Nokia claims will provide up to 14.8 hours of 2G talktime or up to 9.6 hours of 3G talktime. Users will be able to browse the Internet on cellular networks for up to 6.7 hours or on Wi-Fi for up to 6.1 hours or play music continuously for up to 61 hours. The Lumia 520 will be available in India in early-April for Rs 10,500 approximately. http://youtu.be/9SwdMx94qf0

The smartphone, which carries the model number 603e will soon go on sale in the country with a price-tag of 1,799 yuan ($290). HTC E1 features Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, HTC Sense 4+, 4.3-inch WVGA Super LCD 2 display, and 1.2GHz dual-core processor. The smartphone also comes with 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, dual-SIM connectivity, 5MP rear camera and 2.1MP front camera. Among other features, HTC E packs 2100 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi, DLNA, NFC and HDMI. There is no word if the phone will be released in markets outside the country, but given the fact the HTC is yet to be announced any other models apart from HTC One this year, we would expect to see the phone to cater to the mid-range segment in other countries too.
  4. Samsung Galaxy S IV - The Next Big Thing!

Samsung Galaxy S4 Costs US $244 To Make Source Samsung’s latest flagship Android smartphone, the Galaxy S 4, costs $244 to make, a preliminary virtual tear-down by IHS reveals. The research firm estimates that the build of materials cost $236 with an additional cost of $8.50 to manufacture and assemble the smartphone. This is 15 percent or $30.40 higher than the equivalent version (16GB HSPA+) of the Galaxy S III. The higher cost in build of materials is being attributed to a larger and higher resolution display, an array of new sensors and Samsung’s new Exynos 5 Octa processor. “While many brands have released smartphone models using full-HD LCD displays, the S4 represents the first with an AMOLED display at this resolution,” said Vinita Jakhanwal, director for small & medium displays at IHS. “Reaching a true pixel density greater than 300 ppi has been a challenge for AMOLED display makers. However, Samsung was able to enhance AMOLED display performance by implementing new technologies that also drove up the cost of the display.” The cost of the Galaxy S 4’s Octa processor with ARM’s new big.LITTLE architecture is estimated at $30.00, compared to $17.50 for the chip in the Galaxy S III. The Galaxy S 4 also has new humidity and temperature sensors along with an IR gesture sensor, which drove the sensor subsystem price up from $12.70 to approximately $16, the research outfit claims. The big story here, however, is most of crucial and expensive components that go into the Galaxy S 4 have been manufactured by Samsung itself, which is one of the biggest advantages the Korean electronics giant has over its rivals, including Apple and HTC. Samsung manufactures the display and touchscreen module, NAND memory, processor and power management integrated circuit that gives the manufacturer flexibility in terms of component availability and customization. This gives Samsung an significant edge over HTC, which is struggling with component availability for its flagship One smartphone, which is reported to have been delayed and has now been pushed back to end-March and even April for most markets.

  9. Android Updates For Your Phone

[GUIDE] Upgrade your Micromax Canvas 2 A110 to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean Source Thanks comp@ddict Attention all Canvas 2 owners, Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean has officially arrived for your phones. However, to get the update you need to either take your phone to a Micromax Service Center (and pray that they have heard of the update and have it with them), or install the ZIP via CWM recovery (we’re gonna avoid this method as for this people need to root their phones and install CWM recovery) or just download the official ROM off Micromax’s FTP and flash it yourself. For this guide, we are going to follow Method 3. So get your laptops, USB cable and your Canvas 2 ready. Jelly Bean, here we come! Upgrade your Micromax Canvas 2 A110 to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean Step 1 First and foremost, you need to download the Jelly Bean firmware off Micromax’s website. So here’s how you do it. Go to Micromax FTP page (click) Login using USERNAME: mxlive & PASSWORD: M!cr0m@xlive Once inside, navigate to the A110 folder. You’ll find 4 different folders. Download all contend under the folders “DOWNLOAD TOOL“, “DRIVERS“, and from “SW VERSION” folder, download the “V3 Update to Jelly Bean” folder content. The file size is 282 MB. Step 2 Unrar the Software File you got to any Folder. Install both the softwares which were under DRIVERS folder. Also install the drivers from here. (for Windows 8 users, you need to allow installation of unsigned software. Now to go DOWNLOAD TOOL folder and Unzip FLASH_TOOL.zip file. Now you have the drivers installed (connect phone to PC to check). Also you have the Flashing TOOL that will flash the new Jelly Bean software that you just downloaded. Great, the preparation portion of this guide is done. Now, on to Flashing Jelly Bean on to your Micromax Canvas 2 A110. Step 3 Open Flash Tool. Enter the directory (address of your folder where you saved your downloaded software update file) in the “Download Agent” line. Enter the scatter-loading file into the next address line (you will get the scatter file with the FlashTool folder download. Just copy the address link to it (make sure you include the file name in the address as well). The file name will be “MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc” found in the “S9081_MP_F4_B1_IN_MMX_0.16__flasher_user” folder. Now click on the easily noticeable “DOWNLOAD” button. Switch off your phone and connect it to the PC via USB. The entire process takes very less time. After the flashing process is completed, give the phone a couple of minutes for the first boot. After that, enjoy Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean on your Micromax Canvas 2 A110. Troubleshooting Here’s what could have gone wrong if you are unable to flash the latest software update: You didn’t install the drivers properly, or didn’t install them at all. You didn’t write the complete address of the ROM file. You didn’t write the complete address of the scatter file. In either case, your flashing won’t occur. So just check these parameters if you are getting any error. Good luck!
  10. Actually US warranty for Nexus 4 looks like useless for buyers in india who are buying from any third party and are not direct buyers themselves from Google Play Store. DK mentioned the method of how to get Nexus 4 through play store sitting in india in this post >> http://www.rimweb.in/forums/topic/34955-nexus-4-the-next-google-flagship-phone-is-official/page-3#entry287783 From what i have read online, Google is offering complete replacement for warranty claims of Nexus 4 (No Repairs). For that if you're the ORIGINAL buyer from play store, then your google wallet credit card will be blocked for the full sale price amount of Nexus 4 model once you initiate a warranty claim in US & the replacement device will be shipped to you (At US address obviously). Once google gets back the faulty device from you, the credit card hold is lifted. Obviously with the above method, no mass seller on sites like Ebay can offer any warranty support for Nexus 4. In cases of individual sellers in india who have imported their device directly from Play Store & selling here, they should be ready to get their card blocked for the amount if the potential buyer has a warranty claim during the 1 year period. Even if the seller is ready to offer this facility, there is one more problem. Read somewhere that the device needs to be linked to the Playstore gmail ID of the original buyer as the warranty is not transferrable. Obviously this will never be the case. So from what i understand, US Warranty is useless for buyers in india whether they buy from Ebay Sellers or direct play store import individual sellers.
  11. Hope so...Experts pls post your comments regarding the compatibility of foreign handsets with the proposed LTE tech of MTS! Current crop of imported LTE CDMA phones won't but when phones with RF360 chip will start coming, it will. Finally, an LTE Chip That Will Work Anywhere in the World
  12. Great great Deal really. If one year USA warranty and sealed box is not required then there is just no beating this price. For this Ebay listing, Seller is mentioning 1 month seller warranty (For India) but that does not mean 1 year USA Warranty is excluded. If the phone can be sent to US, Warranty in US should be applicable on all Nexus including this one.

  24. @Vipul Agree with views above. Samsung 3206W is good choice for 11K. It even has Ethernet Port in addition to WiFI, USB so can also be made a wired network printer. But i think toner cartridge has a smartchip so can't be refilled without replacing it.
