  1. Instead of searching for a new music system all over again, can't you think of using a digital photo frame with AV Input OR portable dvd player with AV input to be used as a folder display unit for Philips MCD 388 which you like otherwise in all respects.
  2. Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestions

Good practical observations from Arun as always. As you rightly said, it was a "rarest of the rare" case and i do feel that any/all of the proposed changes under consideration should surely work for 99% of the transactions. Even Ebay with all its systems/control in place and being a commercial organisation has certain number of fraud cases. We being a non commercial community can't ever have something which can totally avoid cases like AP. We started the discussion just to improve/modify things in light of past experience gained. Our past experience suggests that even with the current guidelines, majority of the transactions have been trouble free. So the changes can make it only better. This can be done but i doubt whether it will work in practice. Majority of the people may finish the transaction through pm & such thing. As we had seen in AP's case, even some of the older members rushed & bought. The motivation was purely because the items looked cheaper, nobody considered the safety aspect. Human nature is like that, saving a few bucks. We may consider Ebay listing as optional upon the buyer's choice. Those who like the safety can request the item to be listed on Ebay. Those who are OK can go ahead with the transaction as it is. As we have observed, majority of the past transactions here have been trouble free. Completely agree. Escrow service is a non starter. Don't think there is any express legal provision OR privacy law in india which makes it illegal for us to demand ID/address proof. User's IP addresses are alreadymonitored/recorded to identify the persons for any troublesome posts OR for complying with any request/direction from the authorities. All Users consents to this when they agree to our "Terms of Service". The "Terms of Service" may be suitably modified to mention that the user consents to provide ID/address proof for availing additional member facilities like Buy-Sell. Good idea worth trying.
  3. Advice for buying LED / 3D / Smart TV

PASSIVE 3D AND ACTIVE 3D - WHAT ARE THEY? >> http://www.avforums.com/home/Passive-3D-and-Active-3D.html First decide whether you need 3D itself or not. If 3D is not needed, buying a non smart LED Full HD + smart android box separately may turn out somewhat cheaper. Another possible advantage of having android smart box/stick separately is that you'll get the standard android experience+services instead of each manufacturer's proprietary interface. If 3D is needed & you have 1 Lac+ budget, 55" Samsung suggested by DK is very good. It's this model >> http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/tv-audio-video/television/led-tv/UA55ES6200RLXL

^^^ Haha.. Sell threads are open to be posted and you fulfill all the eligibility criteria! But your post is meant more as a black humour! Which was really enjoyable!!
  7. Ashok Karkera has already updated time as 4.30 pm in the FIRST Post. After that update he has not posted anything probably because he already mentioned he was travelling at a place without net access. If someone else misunderstood it at 6.00 pm, why you all guys are getting unnecessarily confused? You have to go by the event organiser's FINAL post. In any case, even if the time would be 6.00 pm... You all can reach at 4.30 & discuss, enjoy beauty/ies in/of Jogger's Park!!! 1.30 Hour will pass in no time... 17. The issue is not in the hand of the government whether Putin/XYZ or anybody raises it at whatever level. Unless the supreme court admits MTS's curative petition & grants any relief, nothing can be done. MTS filed curative petition in April 2012 after it's review petition was dismissed & till date nothing has been heard. For reasons mentioned earlier in another topic , i don't believe it will be allowed.
  18. RIMweb.in 9th Anniversary!

    Happy Birthday Dear RIMWeb!
  19. Reliance provides ADSL as well as Ethernet based broadband. May in your area it's Ethernet based so you're told to go for router without ADSL modem. 150N or 300N won't make any difference if you're going to use the router for internet sharing only. For large file copy between devices on your WiFi Network OR HD video streaming, 300N should give better throughput. Though this is true only for a limited area near to the router. As the range increases & signal weakens, the speed goes down in 300N also. 150 or 300 does not have much to do whether the router can cover a larger WiFi range area. 300N routers generally may have better range mainly because they tend to have dual/high dbi antenna compared to single/lower dbi antenna in most 150n routers. There is no definite prescription as to which router can cover your entire 2000 sq ft. area. Most (including 300N) consumer grade routers generally won't be able to give blanket coverage in every corner of your premise. The coverage depends on placement of the router (higher level/in center of premise should be better), wall obstructions, router antenna etc. Higher dbi/External/detachable antenna routers are preferred for better coverage. Would suggest to skip belkin. Netgear is also good. TP Link are currently the most selling/more bang for buck kind of routers. Range is between approx Rs 1,050 to Rs 2,800. 150N TP Link TL-WR740N - Rs 1,050 Netgear WGR614 - Rs 1,200/1,300 300N TP-Link TL-WR841N - Rs 1,800/1,900 TP-Link TL-MR3420 - Rs 2,600/2,700 If you want to keep future provision for using USB Dongle Data Cards also in addition to RCOM wireline broadband in a failsafe mode, TL-MR3420 can do that. If you don't need that functionality, probably go for a low cost one and keep a future provision of adding one more low cost router as range extender if the first one is unable to cover your entire house.

  25. Left YOU Broadband 12mbps/25GB plan because it rarely delivered that speed. Never consistent. Download speed was around 1-2 mbps most of the time. Even normal resolution YOUTube videos used to buffer. Used it for 3 months, lodged many complaints but there was no improvement whatsoever. However your mileage may vary as i have heard that in other areas of Mumbai, some users were happy with this plan of YOU. Don't know much about Chennai ISP options. May be if Reliance Broadband is available in your area, their new Thunder Unlimited 4mbps plan has become quite a hit at Rs 1,099 >> http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/personal/internet/wired_postpaidplans.html
