Hardware Purchase Suggestion Requests
rajanmehta replied to hiteshkkk1's topic in General Technical Discussion
Why spend so much for a large size monitor? Buy a 32" Full HD LCD or LED TV from a good brand and use it as a large size monitor. You won't get any such large size monitor at a similar/less cost. It's the same LCD panel but monitors are sold at a much higher/premium price. Ek Teer Do Nishan. -

^ ^ ^ Covering each and every corner of two floors may be a hit and miss affair with even good quality consumer grade routers, leave aside those poor Beetel ones. Laws of physics in terms of concrete/other blockages will affect signal travelling everywhere with same strength. Some routers are hackable with DD-WRT firmware that allows for increasing radio power from the source. However try either/any of the following, Place the router at a location from where signal can travel to most places without blockages. Try replacing your router antenna with high power uni directional like these >> http://www.ebay.in/s...86.c0.m14.l1514 Try these type of routers with multiple antennas totalling to higher db output >> http://www.tp-link.i...TL-WR941ND#spec

Router suggested by Arun is good one. You can get the same for a net price of Rs 1160 from HERE after getting coupon of Rs 250 by using method mentioned HERE Alternatively if you want to keep a future provision for attaching USB Data Card too, TP Link TL-MR3220 can be considered for a few hundred rupees more >> http://www.ebay.in/i...#ht_5573wt_1139 It may be cheaper by Rs 100-200 in the market.

Updated: Apple Sues Samsung - Apple Wins Patent Case
rajanmehta replied to sgiitk's topic in The Lounge
Lol. Some of those patents have already been invalidated by courts in other countries because they are laughable / prior art / not original. If Apple is so moralistic, original and does not believe in stealing, why it had to settle with Nokia with it's tail firmly between two legs when it sued apple? Compared to patents in Samsung lawsuit, patents by Nokia were actually valid/original without which apple could not have sold iPhone but it did so without bothering to pay Nokia for close to 2-3 years. It tried using them without any moral qualms untill Nokia sued and then settled out of court silently paying billions of dollars. (The actual amount was never disclosed.) If Apple is so concerned about values and aggrieved by others stealing their work, why no similar lawsuits launched yet against LG or Huawei or ZTE. They all use similar functions in Android. Point is Samsung dislodged apple in smartphone market share and is a real threat. Samsung sold double the quantity of smartphones in last quarter compared to apple. This is not much about any innovation/originality or copying. It's about trying to safeguard marketshare and thwart competition by abusing the legal and patent system which obviously has it's flaws. Will the strategy succeed? No chance. Majority of consumers don't buy smartphones after reading court verdicts. They buy a particular one which they think gives them the best mix of features/performance at a better value. Period. BTW one of the running theme in the trial was apple's arguement that customers bought Samsung phones thinking it's iPhone. Really? Apple credits iSheep smartphone users with such little intelligence where they can't even distinguish between two different phones! Unless apple again starts innovating & incorporates features like LTE, large screens, some other USP which the competition is offering since more than a year, this strategy of litigation is not going to work. With the rat like speed with which Samsung multiplies their models, apple could be chasing it for life without much success on the ground. By the time a device is possibly banned (That too only in US, rest of the world won't be affected) it's already run it's course and sold huge numbers. Apple is going to miss Steve Jobs more and more in the coming days. -

rajanmehta replied to sgiitk's topic in The Lounge
Particular US District Court of Appeals having jurisdiction has around 10% success ratio for appeals. Quite low. They also generally do not overturn jury findings. Jury findings are considered findings of facts and generally prevail. Samsung has to now concentrate on points related to findings/applicability of law. I was expecting this kind of verdict the way entire trial was going on. What better you expected from a highly literate country whose population thinks Sardars and Muslims are the same! Because both keep beard! -

Irresistable Deals In Electronics, Gadgets, Mobiles, PC Hardware

Regarding Ebay Coupon Above: The coupon mentioned above is issued exclusively to accounts which has no/minimal buying activity and not meant for ALL users. Usually Ebay Coupons are always account locked. Sometime like in the above instance, it may work for other accounts. First Come First Served means though Ebay has issued the coupon to multiple accounts, they reserve the right to disable the coupon once a certain quantity usage is reached. It may not work afterwards even for accounts which has received it. Using such coupon even though it may work on accounts to which it's not sent, one runs the risk of getting his Ebay account cancelled. Ebay does it regularly citing ABUSE of ebay system/policies as the reason. Recently in one book deal where only 1 copy per user was allowed, Ebay cancelled the accounts of users who ordered multiple in addition to cancelling the order. Earlier there was a discount code meant for a particular model of HTC mobile but due to some software glitch in Ebay, it was working for all mobiles. There was a mad rush and Ebay suffered around Rs 50 Lacs loss due to that. In that instance also, huge number of accounts were cancelled but not of all who used that coupon. So it's a distinct but not certain possibility. If you have only single long standing Ebay account with feedbacks and value it, consider the RISK before using such codes. If you've multiple accounts OR not at all concerned with possibility of cancellation, go ahead and loot Ebay.- 6,376 replies
